XUNTOS, "together" in Gallego, is a Tapas Bar from Chef Sandra Cordero in the heart of Downtown Santa Monica, serving small plates of things we want you to try: from the farmer's market around the corner to traditional dishes of Galicia, Asturias, Catalunya & the Basque Country, as they're eaten in Spain.

The wines follow the food: natural, fun & unrefined, showcasing Spain & California, along with some others we love & want to share with you.

Feels a little bit like being in Spain. We were greeted by friendly staff and our server was engaging without being over the top. Small shareable plates, they say 3 - 5 per person but we were totally satiated with 5 plates between the 2 of us (and a cocktail). We both loved the flavors, lovely char on the artichokes, the lamb skewer was moist and juicy, empanadas (3 varieties to chose from and we tried tuna) was excellent. Great cocktail list, of which we both loved the one we tried. Many wines by the glass or bottle, but we didn't pay attention to that list. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Tapas were all delicious. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us with recommendations that were spot on. Our only suggestion would be to add sangria to the menu.

Like with all multiple dish meals like Tapas… some dishes are better than others. There were home runs like the Tortilla de Papa and the Gambas al Ajillo and the Pan con Tomate… all in all a great experience.

What a wonderful restaurant!! Ate there on Saturday night, 4/13/24, for the first time. The food and the service were excellent. Great decor and vibes, too. Looking forward to the next time.

I have been wanting to try this place since the fall. The food is very good and innovative. Four of us tried several things. Especially loved the chicken empanadas and the deviled eggs. My Granacha wine was good, partner loved the wheat beer. Will be back!

This one was a bit of a let-down. We love tapas. The place is very nice inside and the wait staff was friendly. I really liked the wine flight - found some interesting wines and learned a little. But - the food did not measure up to the price. First - the serving size was unpredictable. Some things were larger than necessary, others were smaller. Second - overall, the flavor was not there. Everything was competent but no stand-outs. We had the deviled eggs, empanadas, Iberian ham, garlic shrimp, squid ink pasta, and the egg/potato omelet. Part of the joy of tapas lies in discovering new and interesting flavors, but we didn't find that in any of these choices. Most things were a bit plain. Actually the little olive and sardine amuse-bouche was probably our favorite of the night. Third - more of a minor point, but I would expect a restaurant like this to have a full bar, not just beer and wine, and a few more coffee options.

XUNTOS was wonderful…delicious, lovely service, and ambiance were amazing. We enjoyed it immensely. It was full, but we didn’t feel crowded.

The ambiance is great. The restaurant is good for both a date dinner and family/friends gathering. Was disappointed with the food though. We tried the squid ink pasta (not much flavor in this dish), pork ribs (came partially burnt, tasted okay overall), shrimps were fine (probably the only dish that I would order again), deviled eggs (tasted okay). I would say everything was just okay, maybe just didn’t meet my expectations, but definitely not worth the money you spend (at least on the dishes I mentioned).

I don’t understand how this restaurant gets such high reviews. Bots doing reviews? It’s not that good. Food wasn’t very good. Very much fried and greasy. Not a good representation of Spanish/Basque cuisine. And expensive for what it was. Service was nice but really slow and untogether. I feel bad but I wouldn’t recommend. I’m perhaps more discerning than the typical person that attends this restaurant (likely lots of unsophisticated tourists).

I love the concept of this restaurant and the service was spot on great! We sampled several dishes from the menu and I can highly recommend the yummy ribs, the swiss chard, and the asparagus was super (done with a tangerine sauce that was amazing)! The deviled egg was delightful as well as the tomato puree on toasts, a nice palette cleanser...And the goat milk flan was a desert winner!! I will say a few dishes just weren't up to par - the skewered calamari was underwhelming, not well spiced and rather bland, and the garling shrimp was overwhelming with too much garlic (and we were all garlic lovers). I was glad we asked for a quiet table, tucked up in the corner of the upstairs area (we had a double birthday dinner), because the noise level in general was very high. I recommend seating up on the balcony if possible. All in all, however, it was a great experience and we'll certainly go back and sample some more dishes from this neighborhood gem.

Our first time here and we will definitely be going back. The service, food and ambience was exceptional. Our server made recommendations that were delicious and we highly recommend the fried eggplant.

If you're a fan of Spanish tapas, this place is a must-visit for a taste of northern Spain cuisine. The staff is friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations. The ambiance has a cozy Art Deco vibe that adds to the experience. We tried a variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. We started with a complimentary olive, pepper, and anchovy starter, which was a nice touch. Our favorites included the fried eggplant, garlic shrimp, and toast with anchovy. The lamb skewers were tender and flavorful, and the sea bass was cooked perfectly. The squid ink pasta was a pleasant surprise. While portions may lean towards the smaller side considering the price, this establishment is a fantastic addition to the westside dining scene. Overall, a delightful culinary journey through northern Spain awaits at this gem of a restaurant.

The hostess was not friendly. The waitress was rude and unhelpful. The menu was totally misleading. Squid that was filled with pork (never mentioned) sausage, beet, and chard was blood sausage. No matter the culture if you serve blood sausage you note in the menu as that is a very acquired taste. The plates were brought out in courses but tapas should be served all together. Meat served with no bread or anything else for that matter. Shrimp had ammonia taste. Super disappointing meal and experience.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We are an expert Tapas couple so we were excited to try this one out. We ordered (4) Tapas total - Gambas, Croquetas, Patatas and the Lamb Skewers. The gambas and croquetas were tasty and we enjoyed those. The patatas weren't that good, they were hard and pretty boring taste. The lamb one was good, my wife enjoyed it. The did serve bread, that was delicious and we had two drinks - a non-alcoholic sparkly one that was good. She had a glass of spritz, it was different but cool. Overall the ambiance and decor is delightful, they had nice music playing. The service here is top notch, very attentive and food came out in a series as you'd expect with Tapas. The menu is on the pricey side and the portions are probably 1 less of everything we ordered (except the gambas) compared to other tapas restaurants we've tried in the region. If we were in Santa Monica and wanted tapas we'd probably come back.....my wife says she'd recommend them to a friend - she enjoyed so it was a win!

This is a remarkably expensive place to eat! Four small plates, three of which were just vegetables, and a bottle of wine for two people was OVER $200. The food is excellent but the $70 bottle of wine wasn’t even very good. Service is spotty. We waited with no food for a long time. Usually with small plates, as you finish one, the next one arrives. Or two come out together because they are complimentary.

There was an issue with our long wait time since we had a reservation. It wasn’t the restaurant’s fault since the people who occupied our table took a very long time eating their meal and dessert. The hostesses, waiter and manager apologized and totally made up for our wait time over and beyond! All of the drinks, tapas and desserts our table shared were exceptional! Service was so swift. Our waiter was so nice and very attentive. Thank you to the kind manager who knew how to treat his customers. We will definitely be back the next time we are in southern CA.

Amazing experience! We were around Santa Monica and looking for an authentic Spanish Tapas restaurant when came across Xuntos! From the service at the entrance to the bill request, we were very well served. All the small plates we ordered were delicious! Looking forward to coming back!

my friend and I were visiting Santa Monica for business meeting, and wanted some thing that was different. This restaurant absolutely fulfilled that desire. The food was beautifully prepared, and the flavor was delicious. The service was impeccable and if I’m in Santa Monica again, I would gladly visit for another time. But I will certainly let people know about the restaurant.

Overall had a great time at Xuntos. The only part that was frustrating was we arrived on time for our reservation but it took 45 minutes to be seated. This was my first time here so I don’t know if that is a common occurrence. The hostess barely communicated with us this entire time (she was running around frenetically - not even at the hostess stand). At one point she said she’d be able to seat us in 10 minutes although it was still more than a half hour until that happened. We definitely got a little hangry during this time. I think this may have been a her issue though, as once we were seated the service staff was awesome, the food was delicious, and the ambience was very cool. But the rough start definitely took away from the experience.

We had a fantastic dinner and even discovered some new wine. Our serve Xavier was so knowledgeable and passionate about the food and drink. He made us want to try everything! We went with his suggestions and enjoyed our night. The place is very cozy and food was even better! A winner-
