Xacalli is a farm-to-table Mexican Restaurant that highlights regional Mexican cuisine located in historical mining town of Silverado Canyon. In the heart of OC is the community of Silverado with her majestic mountains, state designated scenic highway, and Cleveland National Forest. Silverado lies in the Santa Ana Mountains in eastern Orange County next to the cities of Orange, Irvine and Tustin. We are 30 mins from John Wayne Airport, 20 mins from Rancho Santa Margarita.
Xacalli's aim is to bring people and food together with authentic dishes that are modern and visually beautiful as well as entice your taste buds. We serve plates with the intention of sharing family style. Whether at the bar or in our dining room, we aim to showcase our passion for service excellence. Executive Chef Vincent Espinoza sources quality ingredients to create a seasonal menu alongside a craft bar. This place is a hidden gem. The food and drinks are fabulous. We had reservations and the only reason I gave it four stars is because when we walked in someone walked by said be right there and 10 minutes later they came back to seat us. We’ve been there for brunch which is a must. Dinner is more of a family style. We did the 24 oz for 4 people and was a perfect size. The chef’s presentation is artistic and plating is beautiful. Our waiters have been awesome. Very attentive. Farm to table and a must try!

We go here quite frequently. It is a limited menu. Everything is absolutely fantastic. Their mixed drinks are terrific as well. We are huge fans. I've introduced probably 20 plus people to this restaurant and they too have become devoted customers.

Xacalli was recommended by our son. The food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. The queso fundido was served with home made tortillas. We will be returning for another date night.

Fantastic meal after being waited on for 15 minutes to take me order with only 3 other tables seated at the time and two wait staff. But the food was amazing! Every taste and bite was just awesome! Loved it!

Very unique menu. Abraham was very good at giving us the details on how everything was cooked. Fun experience to go to an area we have never been (Silverado Canyon) and to try food we have never eaten. Great Thursday night date night.

We came here with friends last night. Sadly, we won’t be returning. I ordered the duck which is recommended to be served medium rare. This is my preferred temperature of most meats. I eat sushi, carpaccio, etc. My duck was delivered first and I wanted to wait for the others to get their meals before starting. About ten minutes later we finally all had our meals. My duck was in two sections. The first was about medium rare, delicious but a bit rubbery. The second piece looked more rare. I politely asked my server if the chef could cook it a little more for me. She said she would ask and came back and told me the chef was “uncomfortable cooking it past medium rare”. It was cold and rubbery and I could not eat it. Everything else was excellent. But to be told “no” to my request was insulting in the extreme. At the least, I feel like the chef should have come talk to me. It was not the server’s fault but she seemed to avoid our table after that and we had to flag her down just to order dessert. We will choose to patronize establishments who appreciate our business.

Highly recommend this hidden gem. Food was amazing and the service impeccable. Also the hibiscus lemonade is perfect. Do yourself a favor and visit this place.

This was our 2nd time to this restaurant. We booked a table for 4 people. Wife and I had a great time with our friends. Food was delicious, margaritas were freshly made and perfect. Thank you everyone at Xacalli Kitchen!!

Such a hidden gem and a true dining experience! Creative cocktails and food from a truly gifted chef. Amazing service by the entire team and Edgar always welcomes us so warmly. The cocktails we tried were the Piña Negra and the Agridulce. Then the most amazing eggplant (we almost ordered a second!), corn with beef bone marrow, duck and ribs. Then the super light and crispy donuts for dessert.

Outstanding flavor and beautiful presentation. Quality in the farm to table ingredients. Our server was knowledgeable about those ingredients and how they were prepared. Love the ambiance of the bar area. Service was excellent.

This is our 3rd visit. We took a friend, she was very impressed! Definitely in our top 10 spots. The plates and presentations are unique. A real find for our area! Always memorable, staff is kind and well versed in presentations and ingredients.

We all loved the food, very complex and unique flavors. Nice setting and decor. Innovative menu, great presentation. A creative and fun place to return to. No one understood the exotic menu descriptions, which turned out to be mostly sauces and garnish. Proteins are a home-run, but need salads and sides. Vegetables, please! Rice or street corn. We understand this is a highly personal, regionally selected menu by the chef, but they must have side dishes in the region, too. And, certainly, vegetables. Lastly, the website mentions sharing family style, but we didn't know where to begin. How about a break-out menu with family style suggestions for groups of six, eight, etc? Thank you P.S. Live music would be perfect in the dining room or bar

Xacalli is a hidden gem in the canyon. Located in the beautiful Silverado Canyon, the chef brings a very unique twist to Latin food. We have been a few times and have not found one bad thing. Their mole is excellent. The food is served "family style" so you can share. I highly recommend going with friends and sharing each item. It's a lot of fun. It would also serve well for a nice romantic night out. The inside of the restaurant is well thought out using an open floor plan giving it an energetic vibe. The bar area is also very nice offering street view and is well stocked. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants accessible from South Orange County.

After reading other diners’ online reviews, i was expecting a more unique dining experience. We were the only diners in the entire restaurant’s dining room. Despite completing the online diner profile in advance of our reservation, complete with my photo, no one called me by my name and no one ever acknowledged that it was my birthday. The drinks took longer to receive than one would expect given the fact that were only a few patrons to be served. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable of the food and beverages. The smoked Old Fashioned cocktail was exceptional as was the Duck Confit and the Smoked Pork Chop was flavorful but not very plentiful for being 16 ounces. The prawns were meh. The artistic presentation of all the dishes was stellar. We passed on the dessert as the 3 choices were a bit pricey and there was not much excitement regarding my birthday. The shaved ice was a nice touch but much ado about nothing. We opted to go to La Michoacán for flavorful ice cream at a fraction on the cost. Given that the chef worked at Gabbi’s in the past, it felt like he was going for a Gabbi’s-like experience but it fell short of that unfortunately.

The food was okay and slightly expensive! Our waitress was very nice at first but when we asked to add sides to our order, she got very hostile and annoyed with us. It was for my birthday! She nickled and dimed us for an extra side of sauce and tortillas. She did not comp the dessert or offer anything which is normal for birthdays at other restaurants. Worst experience due to her!!!!
