WOOD Restaurants offers a unique style of dining. We will be bringing complexity using various culinary influences while retaining our classic seasonal flavour combinations giving our guests an elegant, contemporary dining experience with a strong balance of flavours, textures and temperatures.

The Menu at WOOD will be served by the entire Kitchen and Restaurant Team led by Chef Patron Simon.
All bookings cancelled on the day will be subject to the full menu charge per person.
Bookings cancelled within 48 hours before the date of the reservation will be subject to a £30 charge per person.

We have no complaints over the quality of food. We both had the taster menu and each course was delicious. However, after being seated at 7:30 we did not leave the restaurant until 11:15. We chose the wine pairing and after being served with our first course we were told that our first drink would only start with the second course. We ended up with three glasses of wine on a five course meal. The service was poor. The redeeming waiter was ciaran who seemed to be the only one actually servicing customers, whilst others stood around. There were numerous complaints on the night we were there. There was no “special” feeling as there often is at fine dining restaurants. We paid fine-dining prices for mediocre service.

Fantastic cocktails to start off the evening. The food was superb and beautifully presented, fantastic combinations. The wines were excellent. We would definitely recommend Wood.

Regrettably, this was such a poor meal, I haven't experienced many like it. We visited on a Saturday night. The mains took 2 hours to arrive and some elements were sent back twice as they were cold both times. The sides were unbelievable priced. £11 for a Carrot (yes, one) and £11 for a small pot of broccoli You don't feel like a valued customer, you feel as though you are there to be milked and the service and feed simply don't follow the pricing model. Mains are close to £40 and portions are very small. There are so many better places to eat and drink in Manchester. I really wanted to like Wood, but there are too many elements of experience which are way behind where they should be. We were given our money back and left before dessert, which is the most the manager could do, and was a fair outcome. We weren't the only complainants on the night and several others were also asking for refunds. Its hard writing reviews like this but I hope it helps other diners make an informed decision.

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at this gorgeous venue. The food was absolutely exquisite and the service was spot on. It was lovely that Simon Wood came over to check we were happy, which we most definitely were! If you're looking for a special meal, don't hesitate to book this gorgeous restaurant.

We ordered the spring taster menu with the additional wine pairing. The food was outstanding, so much flavour in each dish. The wine was divine and we were glad we tried this as its something we've not done before. However, next time I would just order a bottle as we found the glasses too small, especially considering the price per person. Overall, we had a wonderful evening with amazing food and would return to sample more of the menu.

Perfect for fun with friends and family or extra special for a romantic occasion. Fine dining at its best with imaginative dishes, small plates or a la carte. Food is diverse, beautifully presented by friendly and helpful staff. You can see the dishes being created whilst you done. I like multiple small plates to taste more of the food and pair them with specially selected wines. There are cocktails, mocktails and hot beverages too. Speciality cheeses are great to finish with.

This is the first time we’ve been to Wood and had the a la carte menu instead of his tasting menu. I can honestly say the the food was outstanding. There was a lovely ambience but not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation . The staff were all excellent and extremely knowledgeable . We will definitly return very soon….

The food was exceptional! So inventive and absolutely delicious. The staff were warm, professional and enthusiastic. The restaurant had a fantastic ambience and we couldn’t have enjoyed our evening more. We drove all the way from Bristol to have a meal at Wood and it was worth it!

A long awaited return, we were greeted at reception by a lovely young man who made us feel really welcome and provided a great recommendation re a Rose Wine (Folc). Both our server and the Sommelier were very helpful and knowledgeable and are a credit to your establishment. The food as always was excellent and very different to anything we have had the pleasure to experience here before. If you haven't been here before I would highly recommend you give it a go and if you have been before don't leave a return visit as long as we did. Finally, for us the background music creates a great ambiance and adds to the overall experience.

The quality, flavour and presentation of the dishes we had was superb. What a fabulous place!! We had a booth that faced the kitchen so we were able to observe all the preparations. Amazing!

Lovely celebration lunch. Food was excellent and tasty. Toilets could do with some TLC. Service was acceptable but could be better since the restaurant was not full. Staff were very friendly and polite.

Food was really good but wouldn't say exceptional, although the sticky rib was delicious. Had total food envy of diners chose the duck but as one of us was coeliac was gutted that we couldn't have it unfortunately, so hope this can be fine tuned for GF one day. However what really let it down was the disjointedness of the bar service compared to the food. We'd ordered wine before the food and the starters arrived before the wine had actually been served, although to be fair the drinks were knocked off the bill when we complained. We probably won't be hurrying back but might leave it a bit in the hope that service problems are ironed out in the future.

Outstanding! Our first visit here, after wanting to come for so long, it most definitely will not be our last visit either. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we were welcomed by Dan at front of house through to when we left. Both me and my husband were made to feel like regulars in a very warm and relaxed setting. We were walked through both the food and drinks menu with recommendations on both before settling for the Folc rose, Salford rum and we each had 3 plates for £25, it was a lunch seating. When the food came the chefs explained each dish: truffled mushroom with brioche toast x 2, stonebass, sake sticky beef short rib, mini milk roll with beef bits and baron bigod with crackers. None of the dishes disappointed, they were beautiful and we would have paid more than the £50. Even when there was cheese left we were brought more crackers out The staff were very friendly and spoke highly of the restaurant and Simon's ethos, which shone through. Simon himself was a pleasure to talk too also. One shout-out is Dan, who really is a credit to the restaurant.

Fantastic food, great to watch the chefs at work. Good service and totally delicious...wanted everything on the menu! Will be going back, only request is, please open anothe in SW so the journey isn't 250 miles for us the next time...maybe Winchester!!

Wood Manchester is always something to look forward to and the Chef's spring menu at lunch time didn't disappoint. We enjoyed each of the six courses but the stand out, for us, was the main lamb dish with duck leg ragu. That ragu was truly memorable. The lovely rhubarb dessert finished a most memorable experience. Service was excellent, as it always is, the restaurant just lacked a little ambience as it was very quiet. They need more people to try that spring menu!

Booking for 4 for two birthdays, I was worried about the food being to fancy and small but I no I had to put my trust in the chiefs. My partner is super fussy and I’m a massive foody. What a nite of complete satisfaction, the food was beautifully fantastic, tasty filling and I didn’t season a thing. I was a pain fascinated by the chiefs cooking in full veiw and I was made more than welcome to stand and watch, and the knowledge of the cocktail man blew my mind I must of talked to him for 20 minuets. I could go on for pages about how far the staff went to to make my note fantastic and £395 for a table of 4, and I had multiple spell plates Main and desert and at least 3 cocktails a bottle of wine and 3 beers I thought was a steel. And to see the actual owner there cooking for us all nite and he even came over for a chat after service. What a great note would recommend to all… Thank you wood and team.

Whilst lots of reviews mention poor service, we found this wasn’t the case with great staff etc. However, it’s a shame my wife’s main wasn’t cooked. She chose to have the halibut and upon being served she quickly discovered a good portion of the fish was completely raw and uncooked. It was duly sent back only to be served again slightly less raw and just about warmed through. We were offered an alternative but by this point we decided there was no point changing to another dish, as I’d already finished mine due to the delay. The dish was removed from the bill along with any service change and we were offered free deserts, but this isn’t why we eat out. Really disappointing and we won’t be going back.

Food was lovely and great seeing the chefs in the open kitchen! Our only feedback was we felt rushed. At one point we had the waiting staff queuing! So we were over and done with in 50 minutes - actually took us longer to finish our wine. We had a small glass from the deal, a bottle we ordered and then a free sample. Fantastic value but perhaps not ideal being triple parked so early in the evening 😂😜 The service wasn’t bad at all, actually very good - we just had too much interaction for our short visit. This was the main reason we decided to wrap things up early and go somewhere more intimate closer to our hotel. We must have been served by at least 4 different people? And that’s a lot of interruption with each one asking if we’re ok, topping our water, refilling our wine glasses. Almost too attentive. It didn’t distract from the food and they were super polite, young professionals. To get to ‘great’ service, they just need a bit of support on how to work as a team to be seamless (so don’t try and take a tables order twice or interrupt the sommelier!) and learn when to interact or when to be invisible. It’s an incredibly difficult thing to do and perhaps it’s just our personal preference - some people enjoy the interaction so I don’t want to take away from their efforts. We would come back - we just know what to expect. And portion sizes are absolutely fine if you want to try lots of little bits so prefect for us. But I can’t say you get a lot of bang for your buck. The short rib was divine and worth every penny.

Service from all staff was impeccable - from before we even arrived and called to try and find the restaurant, to cloak service, welcome, impressive knowledge of dish ingredients and sources by all - including a lovely articulate waiter who was young but had great knowledge and confidence in introducing dishes from the Taster Menu. Lovely venue and decor with open kitchen and ambience. Wonderful to try new food and ingredients!

We felt that whilst the food was of a decent quality the format of the menu and cost was excessive. We have eaten at many Michelin Star restaurants and Wood was more expensive than many of those. The night we were in, Valentine’s Day, it was clear the kitchen was not up to the job from a timing perspective. We waited around 45 minutes between starters and main and one of the dishes, Hake Kyiv I think it was called was cold. Waiting staff were nice.

I’ve given some real thought towards posting this as I rarely leave negative reviews and understand the impact they can have. However, there were several elements of our experience that I feel should be highlighted. Firstly, we did receive a very warm and kind welcome from the front of house staff who saw that we were celebrating our engagement. Sadly, it was downhill from there. We were seated at 8pm and it was almost an hour before anyone even came to take a drinks order despite our attempts to catch their attention. I’ve never been to a restaurant of any standard with service this slow. There was also no apology for this. In terms of the food - enjoyable, but the portions were SO small. I’m no stranger to small plates at higher end restaurants but we left so hungry that we had to get a second dinner elsewhere. Fair enough for the starter portions/bread, but we ordered two vegetarian mains and they were both absolutely tiny - particularly the celeriac shawarma (see photos). I really don’t believe that this can or should be classified as a main. I’ve wanted to come here for ages and this could have been a really special experience, but overall the service and portion sizes really let it down.
