Having read some negative reviews, I was hesitant to return to Wild Dog. As for the ambience, we were seated next to the bathroom despite multiple open tables and us questioning the host. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised by the food, a mezze platter, salad and pizza. Although the salad was average at best, the rest of the food was fresh and delicious. For dessert, a lemon blueberry bread pudding was outstanding…made to order. The server was excellent which made up for anything that could be lacking. Will definitely return!

We celebrated our anniversary. Our table was in the center of a traffic area from kitchen. The waitress was fine. I felt like we were an afterthought to other larger tables. Very expensive for what we received for meal. I wouldn’t go again.

The Wild Dog was great!! New menu, everything we had was delicious. Only a little thing. We were splitting a salad and I think it’s really great when they split it in the kitchen. They didn’t. But it didn’t change the fact that it was delicious!!

NIGHTMARE Run away from this place. We were one of three tables in our section with food and drink problems. We are regulars in Saug/Douglas and this is the most il-prepared restaurant for the weekend. Waitress was overwhelmed and kept getting tables confused and indicated the bar tenders were slow and backed up and couldn’t keep up. Our portions and flavors of our dinners were tiny or awful. We complained about he3 oz portion of grouper for 38 in a small bowl with spaghetti. squash (cheap side) management said everything is measured to be more and it’s a chef issue. We asked to see the chef twice and she wouldn’t come out of the kitchen. Basically management and staff telling customer they dont care. the table next to us also had problems and we were joking about how bad this was and the new tables that were seated were left alone for a while and became frustrated. Side note - the waitress who was poorly trained and aloof admitted they couldn’t even brew the ice tea correctly and the bartender manager Chris knew it tasted bad and still said send it to the table. Same person who doesnt know salmon from grouper portions or wouldn’t help the backlog at the bar. Nightmare for sure.

I live locally and I am enjoying the new menu at Wild Dog. Tonight I tried the salmon with a pesto over pasta. It was truly delicious.

So excited ti experience the new menu, however, I’m not sure I can get past the delicious Pork with back beans and lime scented rice! I’ve had it three times in a row and it always is something that I can’t get anywhere else. Congrats on the re-boot, Wild Dog, Enjoy! Best, Bill

The waitstaff here is AMAZING so I hate to write this but as a local who would love to support Wild Dog year round I feel obligated to. We came here last night with our kids. The buttered noodles were $14, there was no cheese, just a small serving of cavatappi tossed in butter. No sides. Literally buttered noodles. My 4 year old was still hungry after eating all of them in approximately 2 seconds. We asked for more. They charged us $14 again. And brought us out another small bowl a whopping 20 minutes later. Again, no cheese, no seasoning. This feels…wrong? Especially since it used to be a restaurant with an above average kid’s menu that included salmon and steak bites. As far as our food went, the mezzo platter had great dips on it but claimed to have carrots and radishes for dipping. It came out with a single spring carrot the size of my infant’s pinky, and a spring radish smaller than that? My husband and I shared, left hungry, drank water and still spent $111 WITHOUT TIP. Very disappointing.

Lengthy post advisory. Summary review: Strongly recommend. Creative menu, good portions, comfortable and refined environment, attentive staff, pricing appropriate for quality and quantity served. Full review: A very nice experience at Wild Dog version 2024 with a new menu, updated decor, and a new drink and wine selection. We had four at our table and the appetizers (special of the day ravioli, and the meatball selection from the menu) were very good as well as the mixed drinks to start off the meal. Terrific and attentive service to get the meal orders in. All the main plates came out well-prepared, seasoned very well ,and are markedly more creative in composition and presentation with this iteration of the business. Portions were appropriately generous. I had the pappardelle from the menu and it came to me slightly too firm... like maybe 2 minutes shy of being spot on al dente. The server promptly took the dish back, and quickly returned to the table stating chef/co-owner Rachael agreed, and was putting another dish together. Chef Rachael brought it out in short order, and it was perfect! Wine with dinner was very good and the pours were generous. The restaurant was about 3/4 full in the main dining area (bar area and tables there completely full), and we were able to talk at a normal level. Gelato of the day was very good for dessert. So, absolutely recommend visiting for dinner, locals who have eaten there before should be happy with the updates, and visitors to the area can put this eatery (back) up with the better restaurant experiences in Saugatuck / Douglas. Very pleased to see Wild Dog at the front of the very strong pack of local dining spots again as the summer nears (Deck will open as it warms).

Food was amazing, but we were disappointed that the wine list had changed and prices increased. Only 1 chardonnay and 1 pinot noir were available by the glass and the chardonnay was not great. The previous chardonnay (that was no longer available) was exceptional.
