Excellent experience overall except seated to a loud, large and slightly overbearing group, hardly the restaurants fault. Food was delicious and service was fair. They were a bit tied up with the large group

Loved the location and ambience however the service was extremely slow. Perhaps they were understaffed but that’s not my problem, I always try to be polite but the staff were rather indifferent. Given how many other restaurants there are to chose from I’m not sure I’ll go back.

The food was good so good in fact we booked again the following night. The service was spot on, not too intrusive but attentive enough. Even the back ground music was perfect!

Poor is an overstatement for this place. Food was pretty terrible. Staff was unnatentive. Very very expensive for the size and the quality of the meal. This place should close. DISGUSTING

Food was pretty good but the main dining room was so loud and tables so close we couldn’t hear each other. We had to leave before dessert because it was so loud.

Right in the heart of tourist Edinburgh - popular and deservedly so but not overcrowded. Staff pleasant and attentive and food is a good standard well presented. Prices are fairly standard for most items though the salmon looked expensive to me. to be honest it is perfectly nice but didn't feel special and that is probably because it is in "tourist town" , in season, and there is more throughput than repeat business and both the ambience and the service reflect that. It probably has more ambience in the evening. Don't get me wrong - this is a perfectly pleasant and good place to lunch, just don't expect it to be outstanding or very special in my experience twice recently.

We had an early dinner before Hamilton which practically gave us the entire restaurant to ourselves. We had a few drinks and starters before our incredible mains - you must try the salmon - so good. The waitress was kind and helpful as we asked many questions. We also celebrated my dad's birthday and they were so sweet to bring our pudding with a candle. It was a lovely evening and I will be returning.

Needed a place with Scottish food in the Old Town to take visitors. Aware that prices have shot up in many places, chose this one on the basis of OT’s information that cost of a meal here is ‘£25 or under’. Unlikely: main courses in themselves range from £27 to £36. Food was not bad, but for these prices you could go somewhere genuinely good (La Garrigue, Cafe St Honoré, Escargot bleu, etc.). We paid £150 for three, two courses and one glass of wine each. Expensive tourist trap.

As a person that doesn't know anything about whisky, this was a great place to start as the staff helped us sort through the vast selection and made recommandations based on our taste. The place is cozy and the food was good so it's the perfect place to start in order to discover Edinburgh.

Truly special experience in Edinburgh. Great for talking with an old friend over a nice dinner, sipping on expensive whiskies. The venison was amazing. And highly recommend the premium whiskey flight (5).

We arrived early by about 15 mins but were seated straight away. We didn't have to wait long before the waiter took our drinks order and then our choice of food. Food was really amazing. Piping hot and so tasty. Nice portions too. Thoroughly recommend Whiski Rooms to anyone who has not visited before.

Fantastic from start to finish. Staff were lovely, attentive and welcoming. Food was to a high standard - all delicious. Tried two whisky flights, great variety to choose from. Only thing would have changed was the apple crumble - was delicious but it would more accurately be called stewed apples with a sprinkle of crumble on top. Needs a layer of crumble on top be considered an apple crumble. Will definitely be going back!

We had a very pleasant meal, very well served and presented. One star lost for chips not being very crispy and could have been hotter. Not enough to spoil the meal at all but just not quite the best. Also Cranachan didn't seem to have much if any oatmeal - again very nice flavour but missing that little crunch expected from that dish. Would still recommend overall.
