Outstanding view! I ordered the duck and was underwhelmed. Tasted good, however I did tell the waiter my zucchini strips were cold. And for the price point I was surprised how little was on plate.

Our go-to spot for lunch, and now dinner! First time trying their dinner and the food did not disappoint. Loved the mussels with bread and flatbread. Appreciated the thoughtfulness of splitting our ravioli onto two plates without us even asking (unlike other restaurants that charge for this service). The view and service were top-notch as always. The hotel doorman's warm welcome sets the tone for a great experience!

One of my favourite Victoria restaurants. I remember coming here with my Mum when it was the Parrot House. Great food and service. Limited wine list for a place of this calibre. Panoramic views of Victoria at every window.

Everything was lovely except that one of our guests couldn’t cut her pork. It was too ‘hard’ she said. But the waiter did bring her some prawns instead. Thank you.

We arrived at 630 and ordered our appetizers and entrees together as soon as we were asked, after looking at the menus ahead of time. It was a special occasion, with our parents in their 90s, so we wanted things to go as smoothly as possible. Our entrees weren’t served til close to 8pm. Food was cold. Wait staff barely checked with or refilled glasses, but assured us that they were following up with the kitchen. However 25min lapse between being told that our dinners were just being plated and when they actually appear the table. I never make a fuss or complain since I work in the industry myself (I always tip well), so it’s got to be really bad for me to say something and write a review like this. It’s unfortunate since at age 90, our parents only get out to restaurants about twice a year.

My experience at Vista 18 left much to be desired. The service was subpar, perhaps due to understaffing or disengaged employees. While the appetizers failed to impress overall, the Miso Chicken Wings stood out for their flavorful profile, complemented by a nice touch of tamago. Unfortunately, the Crispy Humboldt Squid was disappointingly rubbery and lacked flavor. On the brighter side, the mains redeemed the meal. The Sous Vide Duck was a highlight, boasting a delightful melt-in-your-mouth texture. Similarly, the Grilled Lamb T-Bone was seasoned impeccably and bursting with flavor, though it's worth noting that querying preferences in cooking style should align with execution. Overall, while the food merits a respectable 3.9/5 rating, the dining experience at Vista 18 was marred by lackluster service, detracting from the overall enjoyment.

Amazing food and our server was lovely. Only issue was arriving to a half empty restaurant and being seated as far from the view as possible. If I want to look at Fairfield, I will go to Fairfield. We asked to be seated at an empty table for two in the window. Eye rolls. We pointed to the empty tables looking out over the harbour and Sooke Hills. Condescending explanation of how the "system optimizes table assignments and if we take a nice table and a party of three walks in, they would have to move us." No such party walked in but we did get our window seat. Less attitude, more service would do justice to this talented kitchen. The tuna was perfectly seared and served on wasabi cauliflower puree. The butter fish was fantastic and we enjoyed some lovely BC wines and whiskies. By all means go, but if you are there for the view, specify that at every turn.

Ask to book table 48 for the best view. We had a great meal but it took some time to come to us. Our server responded by not charging us for the appetizer. Assume they were understaffed in the kitchen . We will go back. View we had was great but will try for table 48!

This was a fabulous spot for breakfast/brunch. What a view and the service was amazing. I have celiac and most of their menu was able to be made gluten free and I had no issues afterwards. Will come back every time I am in Victoria!

I've never had a bad experience at Vista, so was disappointed with our lunch on Sunday. First meal was a burger on a gluten free bun. The bun was rock hard and taken off half way through. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. Second meal was the spinach halloumi salad. The bowl was small and the wrong shape which made it awkward, so much so one of the halloumi balls went flying to the floor. That guest asked for a plate and put the salad on that instead. 3rd meal was the waffles with fruit compote. There was some confusion from that guest over what a fruit compote was, and was explained to them by another in our party. The meal was enjoyed, but small for the price. Last detail was the server was a bit rude and condescending. It seemed she immediately got defensive when our party was asking questions. They were not complaints, simply questions. Overall felt value was lacking. Again I'd like to note that in the past, meals have been thoroughly enjoyed, though it has been about 3 years since the last visit. At lunch it was nice an quiet and didn't feel like we needed to shout.

This is the only restaurant in Victoria with these kinds of city views - spectacular. The added benefit of delicious food (most of which can accommodate a GF diet) , a wide variety of wines at good pricing and wonderful service makes this a great dining choice in downtown Victoria. We had not been for many years but will certainly start to frequent again. Added bonus of duck on the menu!

The Vista 18 has beautiful views of the city and great servers. But the food was not up to par. Food was either overcooked, over seasoned or bland. Would recommend for cocktails but not dinner.

Instead of spreading people out, we were all near a very large and loud, drunk group of guys. We could not hear each other speaking. Menu choices were minimal. Server was abrupt and in a hurry. To pay that much money for "fine dining" and have that type of atmosphere was very disappointing. We were able to enjoy the bar area more than the restaurant

Great location with wonderful views of downtown Victoria and out into the straight Happy hour menu and price list is good The duck entree was chewy but the sides and service were great We enjoy the location and service

Steak was poor quality and chicken dish was bland , talked to manager and agreed to give them another chance , such a nice venue it would be a shame to cross it off our list of favorite spots to eat

Excellent food and a very pleasant atmosphere. Service was also very very good! Great views of the city. We will go back again to Vista 18!

Was a disappointment, and won't be back. Was expecting a fine dining experience, but my fish was overcooked, the promised view was disappointing (other tables would be better), and the overall experience was lackluster. It wasn't bad - it just fell short.

We had a wonderful time and our waitress was lively and we had a nice wine. The food was just ok. I had the chicken and shrimp and it’s just bland and not what I expected for the price

Waiters service was excellent. But due to a mix up in kitchen our dinner was delayed. Didn’t arrive till 2 1/2 hours from arrival. The waiter offered to comp only 1 drink. We both waited. It would have been better PR to offer at least 2 or the 3 drinks we had. However, probably 3 would have been more appropriate since it was only ordered because the wait was so long and there was none left for dinner.

We had another delicious meal at Vista 18. Wonderful assortment of veggies along with beautifully prepared mains. Very quiet, with few diners during the week compared to the weekend. The staff was participating in “Pink Shirt day” which was appreciated but rather unprofessional looking t-shirts. Our waitress was very attentive. We had a top notch evening.
