Stationed in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Virtue is a Southern American restaurant that leads with a culture of hospitality & kindness. We’ve worked hard to create a warm, honest & thoughtful space. We pride ourselves on unpretentious service, timing & most importantly providing great value. At Virtue we use heritage techniques to create some familiar flavors, & some new ones. We hope to see you soon.

Joe was our server, and he was fantastic. He took time to find what our preferences were on drinks and food, and we weren't disappointed by his recommendations. We met their chef de cuisine, Demarr Brown, who we originally saw on Top Chef, and he was extremely gracious. The food was everything we hoped it would be, and then some. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this!

Amazing meal and hospitality. Gumbo, Snap Peas, and Banana Puddin is a must. Great cocktails as well.

This was my third time here and it is always a good time. Anthony was our server and he was such a joy. I’m not Justifying nothing but you have try the cocktail Justify!!!! The fried green tomatoes and shrimp are delicious. We will be back. Thanks for another wonderful experience.

Delightful variety of excellent tastes and textures. The four of us all had different entrees and loved them all. The short ribs were the best my wife ever had and the gumbo was very flavorful and tangy to the edge of too spicy but not over the line. The only issue is that the main dining room is noisy to the point of being painful making conversation very difficult. If you go book the smaller and quieter bar area.

Best meal I've had in a while. Everything was delicious - gumbo, cornbread, greens, blackened catfish, short ribs. The service was fantastic. Highly, highly recommend.

I truly enjoyed my experience at Virtue. I was nervous about feeling rushed because it was Mother’s Day but our server was attentive, our meal was well paced and the food was delicious. I’m adding this restaurant to my list for my next visit to Chicago!

I had heard nothing but excellent things about Virtue and this rings true in my experience. One person in our party did have an issue with her meal, but she was offered another option. Overall, the fine dining experience, atmosphere and level of service is pretty superb. The menu offers several options even for someone with picky preferences like me. I look forward to going back to try more options. That cornbread is divinely delicious and the biscuits are exceptional.

Virtue is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The food is , delicious, homey, perfectly paced & presented. I have never been to a restaurant with such great service. It is obvious that the staff cares about you & your dining experience. The atmosphere is comfortable & unpretentious.

I’ve had many friends make recommendations to dine at virtue. My fiancé and I decided to take our visiting family. And it was definitely worth the hype! The food was incredible and full of flavor. With every bite we could taste the detail that the chefs put into making sure our meal was memorable. The service was also worth noting. 10/10 recommend.

Virtue is consistently good. The food is always delicious, and the service from Rog was outstanding. The restaurant is always crowded , but we were comfortable.

The food and drinks are high level. This is a top notch restaurant. So glad I can walk to dinner here whenever I plan ahead with a reservation. Spoiled!

Always a pleasure dining here. Service is spectacular and it compliments the delicious southern food. If you haven’t been here, get here quick! Make reservations a few weeks out for a weekend as it gets packed quickly.

The food is individually prepared and the service was attentive. A drawback was the noise level which made it difficult to have a conversation. The restaurant was packed and busy. My companions each had gumbo and commented it need we more crab and shrimp. I had fish and grits, fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade on top and cornbread served with a huge dollop of butter. The fish and grits was good, prepared with lots of butter. I took some home. The fried green tomatoes was a good and I took some home. Cornbread was great. The food overall was very good. I am recommending this restaurant as a good southern cooking place in Hyde Park.

Our experience was excellent as usual. Our waitress was the best. Food was superb everything was beautiful from the time we entered. We had two new comers that were equally impressed! Thank you for a beautiful dinner. ❤️

Virtue is an amazing place. The food and service were beyond anything I expected despite wanting to go for 2 years. Joe, our server was so knowlegeable and helpful. He already knew I have a dairy allergy was prepared to help me find the right choices. I have been a fan of Damarr Brown since Top Chef and he was kind enough to stop by the table and say hello. Dont wait like me. Go to Virtue soon!
