Very impressed coming into the restaurant area. Food was good, but not the best. Especially way over priced for the food taste results we encountered. Was just okay but was more a tapestry style. For a 5 course meal we were midly disappointed. Wine was good but again over priced for the tastes. Service was stupendous with knowledge and presentation. So sad the food outcome was not impressive for two foodies. It will be a very long while for us to return. As there are a minimum of twelve other equal and or greater, food experiences in Winnipeg for equal and or less costs. So yes we were quite disappointed upon our reflection of our evening. Unfortunately, the Venue wasn’t up to expectations! We were very excited to try Michelin inspired food, although, the presentation that I thought will be the biggest Wow effect, was very plain or had no garnishes at all, for example pasta. Only Mozzarella Ball had interesting presentation and looked good. Food was too salty, may be because of seafood, but that was too much, we even refused from 1 starter (although, lady server did change it for other one, which we appreciated). Mix seafood appetizer had good texture and was the one that we enjoyed the most. Moz Ball took 55 min to be made (although we were informed that it will take 20 min). I ordered rose wine, gentlemen kindly offered to bring it from other outlet, that was great touch, but upon serving: bottle wasn’t presented, he didn’t give a try and even didn’t name what was it. And the other thing: it’s was bday of our daughter, 2 staff mentioned it to us, but even little candle in a pasta if you don’t do cakes wasn’t served. Server was nice and professional, she did check on us several times. You have beautiful glass ware. Also kids menu/ chair wasn’t available at all, although thanks to our waitress she managed to get spaghetti with butter and Parmesan, our girl really loved it.

The pricing is rather high but it is to be expected for a restaurant like this one. The food was very good and made better with great service, particularly the sommelier, Daniel. Very attentive server as well.

A great experience. Staff are wonderful. Portions are large. Presentation was lovely. Overall food was disappointing. Although well cooked, no taste on the veal. Breading not needed on the Octopus. Breading not needed on the vegetables. Gnocchi sauce not great.

Where do I start? The service was a little slow to start but once it started everyone was very attentive throughout the evening. The courses were amazing. Presentation and flavour were excellent. I thought that because it was a tasting menu that the portions would be small but we were very satisfied. We requested the wine pairings with the meal and the sommelier was more than happy to impart his knowledge of his selections and fine Italian wines. Chef Marziale visited with each table and it was a pleasure to meet her! We would definitely return.

Vida Cucina Italia is for a very tasty time and perfect for a special occasion. It is not usual. The feel of Vida is welcoming, elegant, celebratory. The room is beautiful. The service is smiling , attentive. The food preparation is unique. We went for the pasta tasting event, which was original treat after original treat. And loved the quiet, seductive Italian music.

If you like salt, this is the place to go. The carbonara and beef shoulder was so salty that if I wasn’t paying for it, they wouldn’t have been consumed. The antipasti of prosciutto and gran padano were ambiguously described and over priced for what you received. If I wanted to, I could also put prosciutto and parm on for a fraction of the cost. Definitely not worth 40$. The carbonara was a good portion - larger than anticipated, but the pasta was wrong and tasted like it was from a box. The salt content was excessively high and overall not worth 45$. You could cut the salt in half and it would still be too much. The beef shoulder was salty and dry. I suspect the beef was salt cured like on an ancient pirate ship, and then paired with a red wine reduction that was sparse in its application and unbalanced in its taste. The polenta was cold and had the consistency of uncooked cornmeal. Overall the concept is there and with adjustment to recipes and cook times, this restaurant could be something. At this moment, the service was impeccable, but the valuations for dishes is an issue and the food needs to be corrected. None of this is what I expect from a Michelin star rated chef.

It was a quiet weeknight, but from start to finish staff were kind, swift, and accommodating. We both enjoyed our appetizers and mains. Lovely to have somewhere in Winnipeg so dedicated to high dining in Italian cuisine. As someone who doesn't eat wheat, there were still plenty of great options for me. Dessert was probably a bridge too far, but still delicious. We ordered cocktails and wine, with cocktails coming from the Oval room. The Italian chardonnay and sauvignon blanc were both excellent. Absolutely no regrets. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions, business dinners and for spoiling friends from out of town. Thank you to the staff and kitchen. Much appreciated!

Fantastic service from start to finish! The hostess, Amy, made us feel welcomed and special as soon as we arrived and again at the end of our meal. Our server, Brian, did a wonderful job of explaining the menu and highlighting the specials. Daniel, the sommelier, help us choose the perfect Brunello to accompany our meal. The food was outstanding. The caccio pepe was some of the best we’ve had and the black cod special was truly a delight.

First off, beautiful room, great ambience. Service spot on, Dan the sommelier was great too. We had the foccaccia, spaghetti carbonara, and the veal milanese. First 2 were terrific, would not have asked for better. The veal was dry, overbreaded, not super tasty, came with no vegetables, and for $80 for 2? Really, that needs to be improved. Very little veg dishes, we would suggest some side offerings be made available if you are not going to include them in many dishes. Overall we had a great evening, but value for $$ not great, and when you are paying top $$, you have not much room for disappointment.

Walked in and was greeted, staff took our jackets, walked in, was escorted to our table. Our server explained the dishes we were curious about and when ordering drinks my partner asked for beer instead of wine, which they didn't carry, but the waiter went to another resturant in the hotel to get the beer list from their resturant which we really appreciated. Our cup was never empty, they were very attentive while maintaining our privacy.

Our second visit to Vida Cucina Italia was as memorable as the first, if not more so. This time it was Valentine's Day! Our waitress was more the helpful in our selection process and encouraged us to share. We opted for one of the chef's specials and it was unique and extremely tasty. All in all, another wonderful night at the Fort Garry Hotel. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely experience. My only issue was that I had requested gluten free when making the reservation and gluten arrived at the table twice. The chef accommodated very well in the dishes we ordered but it was disappointing that a cheese dressing for a salad contained gluten (disclosed well but is wheat flour necessary?). Overall I enjoyed this restaurant very much and will return.

It was a perfect night even though the restaurant was full by the time we were done, there was no difference of service. All the staff served us as we were the only people in the restaurant, our server Patricia was excellent as was the rest pf the staff. The wine the wine recommend was perfect. The only bad part was this was a business dinner. Wish I was on a date, it would have been a memory worth keeping in our mind more than now. Will be back soon.

The atmosphere and staff are like no other. The ambience was perfect and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. So many little extras at the beginning of the meal to set the stage for an incredible evening. The food, oh my goodness the food! You will not be disappointed, the flavours were out of this world and the meat and pasta were cooked to perfection! And don’t forget to divulge with a cappuccino and dessert to end the night. Best experience I’ve ever had!!

Food was delicious, customer service was stellar, ambiance was beautiful. An authentic Italian cuisine dining experience. Highly recommend! We will be back soon!

Had the chicken. Sounded great on the menu but fell short of expectations. For one the portion was too small and flavour was not there. No vegetables either. Family had the pasta and enjoyed it.

The room is attractive. The service is attentive. The pricing is a mixed bag. Some dishes are well priced and others seems overpriced.
