Verde Cocina brings the best of NW bounty to you with a fusion of Mexican flavors. Since 2009 we've been working with local farmers and purveyors to source the freshest ingredients we can find. Looking for a juicy steak, a delicious cheese filled quesadilla, AND a hearty vegan entree to satisfy everyone in your group? You've come to the right place. Our entire menu is naturally gluten-free and we offer options for a variety of dietary lifestyles. Paleo-minded and Vegans unite! Verde Cocina always nails it - the food is so fresh and thoughtful, steak was cooked perfectly, the chile relleno was outstanding, and our meal came out quickly! Tomas was a great server who took excellent care of us.

Amazing server and cocktails. All the veggie forward eats were great, but we got 3 different animal proteins and all were over cooked. Flavors were great, if I go back it will be to try the plant based meals and enjoy the very fine bar.

Delicious food, excellent vegetarian options and margaritas. My only feedback would be to please be transparent about the price of specials (post them somewhere or have a menu). Most dinner options were in the $20-30 range so we weren’t expecting to see $75 on our receipt just for the dish my husband ordered. Obviously it would be embarrassing for us to ask the price when the waitress tells us about specials (especially on a Valentine’s Day date).

Always a great choice. I’m a fan of really good veggies paired with spicy protein. They always deliver and it isn’t packed with bell peppers! Love this place.

This place seriously impressed me. The ambiance was pleasing with ample lighting and good seating options. Service was awesome! The food came SO quickly and was incredibly delicious. It’s a marvel that everything is gluten free and reasonably priced. I think this is my new favorite place to dine. So grateful it exists!

This is a go-to place for us, lunch, brunch, dinner, perhaps 6 blocks from our apartment. The food is always wonderful; the mashed sweet potatoes are things to dream about, the guacamole consistently excellent, the steak fajitas tender and wonderful. Nothing has ever been less than good, many things, including the cocktails have been just what we wanted/needed in any given meal. But the truly stellar aspect of the restaurant is the service., It has always been welcoming, attentive, responsive, without being hovering. This last time we had a waitress who was something special ... I think of her as Morticia, tall, black dress, glides across the floor. Knowledgeable and informative about the menu and everything on it, she's also funny enough to do standup, wry, witty, brash (we're originally from NY, brash is like mother's milk); she made the meal a total delight for all of us from the moment we sat down until it ended, and now days later I still thinly warmly about the evening. Plus there was a symbiosis between Morticia and her bearded manager that was seamless ... if even a tiny thing went awry (the guac came with the meal) they were both on it immediately and then didn't charge us for the guac. Together they made it an absolutely perfect way to spend an evening with our adult offspring. There's a chasm between dining and hospitality. So often restaurants focus on the former and don't seem to give a damn about the latter. But the truth is that if you eat out more than very rarely, it's all about how welcome you feel, how cared for, how at home. This is about the most comfortable I have felt at dinner in a place where I didn't have a tv remote in my hand as I can recall recently ... thanks to all there for a lovely and a tasty (and a filling!) evening (I had the 3 steak special and wobbled home content, having been warned by Morticia often enough that it was a LOT of meat, that I had to point out that that caution was not needed for a guy as fat as me).

I cannot eat quesadilla any other way anymore. The soft quesadilla over a bed of fresh beans and vegetables is simply divine. The ambience and the service is excellent.

John’s beef steak special was massive; enough to feed our group of five…. For an entire week! I’m not sure why the prevailing practice is to not post prices on specials ($75), but if this were the case, John probably would have suspected that it was much more food that he was ready to eat at one meal…. And that he would not have had to freeze it and carry it back to Texas the next day. at one meal

Very good food and fun atmosphere. We go out of our way to stop at Verde Cocina when in Portland. This place is great for celiac, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions. Margaritas made right - you can taste the tequila.

A pleasant vibe, great service, good selections. (We’re used to somewhat spicier food from that general region, though—what we chose that evening was a tad bland. Enjoyable, though, and we’ll be back.)

Nice fusion of Mexican and pac-NW flavor. Very creative. You can get traditional mex or Tex-mex anywhere (else). This was a nice twist to the usual.

Planned to go to Hillsdale location but Open Table reservations automatically go to the Pearl (that should get fixed). When I noticed the error I called Hillsdale and the guy on the phone was so rude we went to the Pearl. They also didn’t seem to have our reservation but it was nearly empty so it wasn’t a problem. Felt lucky for us to have such excellent drinks, food and service, but felt sorry for the restaurant, which seems to be just a couple blocks off the hot spot. Sangria was perfect - not sweet - and the chili relleno was unique. Guacamole was chunky, sauces were flavorful, portions generous, price as expected - not a deal, but fine for the quality. Not a part of town I frequent but if I did, I would go back to Verde Cocina.

We have vegans in our group and they were very happy with their selections. The food was delicious and visually appealing. Great place to bring people new to Portland.

We had a lovely time sitting outside at Verde Cocina. We had the surf and turf special which was absolutely delicious and a ton of food.

First and last time going to this restaurant. The food was not good at all. My husband ordered a rib eye and it was very tough he could barely cut it with a steak knife. The rice was instant rice and not cooked all the way. I ordered the Pozole, and it wasn’t good at all! This dish should be full of flavor with different spices and this pozole had no flavor, very watered down. STAFF: our server Gema, was very sweet and attentive. The bartender that brought our drinks had a dirty apron and he brought out our drinks with a dirty glove. TO THE CHEF: please put love into your food. Go watch your grandma cook and get her delicious recipes.

Absolutely the best guacamole in town - smooth and creamy - delicious! Love the passion fruit agua fresca. Get the mac n cheese and add pork belly and jalapenos. The perfect blend of cheesy pasta, veggies, and candied pork. Those 3 things will always keep me coming back!
