Verbena is a restaurant and bar located in the heart of W 6th Street occupying the street side ground level of the Canopy by Hilton hotel. The venue is comprised of a 36 seat bar and lounge, a 60 seat dining room with open kitchen, and wood-burning hearth, both which open to a lush open air courtyard. Brought to you by Chef Nic Yanes, owner and executive chef of Juniper and Uncle Nicky's, Verbena delivers a menu reminiscent of old-world farm to table fare that is artfully composed in a modern presentation to delight our guests. Whether plant or protein, our menu celebrates these ingredients with perfectly balanced seasoning and light sauces to enhance natural flavors. What grows together goes together, explains Chef Nic. A nice place with a kind of food which I could not connect with any cuisine type. Maybe they should look for another or new chef. I don't know. I don't expect to be excited at this price range but to be at least satisfied.

Our meal and our server were both great. We each had two mixed drinks, the Lil Gem Salad, guacamole, quesadilla, and the carnitas. All great. Restaurant was a bit cold and they sat us by the courtyard directly under an HVAC grille. $160 was a bit much, but the meal and the experience were great. We would definitely go back.

Fabulous service. My brazino was mediocre. The tenderloin was fabulous. Broiled rabbit was superb. Chicken had too much rosemary. Tres leche cake was good. Great ambiance. Fantastic service.

paul made our entire experience memorable! the beet salad was outstanding and i would go back for that alone. but paul made was very accommodating to my gluten free needs and made my birthday special with a gluten free dessert. he was nice to our four legged companion as well definitely check this place out! ask for paul, order the beet salad and try the pork chops!

We had 8 adults for a friend birthday dinner. The food and service were top notch - and we had a few different dietary restrictions that they managed well. The bar tender got creative and made an off-menu gin/cucumber cocktail that was excellent! We will be back for sure!

The steak, pork chop, cake, margarita and wine were incredible. But the “carrot salad” was 90% mushrooms which I didn’t expect XD. $147 (before tip) for 2 entrees, 1 dessert, a cocktail and a glass of wine.

I thought this place would be really great, and it wasn't. Started rocky, we got there fur an early dinner so the place is empty, but getting seated took a few minutes, getting the drinks took quite a while, but the drinks were really good. I got the cucumber mocktail, but added vodka, my friend loved the Flamenco Fusion. For the entree I was debating between scallops and the rabbit. I got the rabbit, and should've expected that there wouldn't actually be much to it because, duh, it's a rabbit, but there was very little meat to consume, or maybe I didn't work hard enough at it bc it wasn't an easy meal to eat. It came with these rounds of dense, not terribly flavorful potato, I think? There was a tasty puree on the plate along with a squash and little, dried figs. The filet was well liked. I didn't try it but it looked nice and my friend liked it. The Branzino took both gals who ordered it by surprise bc it still had the skin on. The server thought it was skinless, but came back to say, no, that is indeed skin. So, the server was great, offered an alternative, which came out undercooked, eeek, undercooked pork, not great. We did get showered with every dessert off the menu, which was really a nice surprise. I don't know what it all was bc I hadn't looked at it in the menu. There was a chocolate cake, really good, particularly with a bit of the sorbet that was a separate plate. There was a white cake that we thought was tres leches, but instead was just a dry, vanilla cake. I didn't try the other ice cream that came out but I think the others liked it. So, all in all, kind of a bummer, expensive bummer.

Celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday with her girlfriends. The staff was fantastic, setting was beautiful and food delicious. Could not recommend more! They were able to accommodate some last minute changes to number of people joining. The outside patio area was beautiful with lights on the trees. It would have been perfect if the wind had not kicked up at the end but they did bring out heaters. Had the scallops, flatbreads, steak tartare. It was all delicious!! They made the evening very special and I am so grateful for making it so memorable!

Solo puedo juzgar la experiencia en San Valentín. Fuimos a cenar y desde el principio un desastre. El menú era cerrado ($$$) y nos sirvieron antes el postre que los entrantes. El camarero fue muy simpático pero la comida no nos gustó. Teníamos muchas ganas de probar este restaurante pero nos decepcionó. Igual tienen mejores platos en la carta pero no sé si volvería.

Arrived before our reservation time waited for an hour, had to repeatedly ask to be seated. Server was not present did not greet or brought water for 45 mins. Finally found a manager to grab the server. Server had an attitude and did not explain how the menu was going to be charged that night. Took 2 hours for entree to come. Bill was $600 when we only order 4 things and no drinks. Apparently is a fixed menu night and was not explained this. Won’t ever come here again. Horror

We had a 7:45pm reservation. We waited 20 minutes for our table. The waiter, who was also our host when we came in, took our drink order after about 10 minutes. The drinks did not arrive before he came back and asked us for our food order. It was Valentine’s Day so it was a fixed menu, and there was only one choice for first course. I pointed this out, and that’s what we “ordered.” The waiter came back twice asking if we’d made the rest of our choices, and the drinks still had not arrived. He then told us we had to make the rest of our food choices because the chef “demanded” it because of the busy night and fixed menu. Since it was almost an hour into this “experience” and we still didn’t even have drinks, we decided to leave. Beautiful restaurant, though. Sad we won’t be back.

Verbena truly went above and beyond to make our Valentine's Day unforgettable. The food was fantastic, and we had an amazing time. When our server disappeared mid-service, the manager stepped in with such kindness and attentiveness, ensuring that our evening wasn't disrupted. It was clear that the staff and management genuinely care about their customers. As we entered, they surprised my date with a complimentary rose, and as we left, a thoughtful parting gift of chocolate added a perfect finishing touch to an already wonderful evening. Verbena's exceptional service and personal touches made our experience truly special, and we'll definitely be returning.

Great oysters with incredible sauces. The pork chop was off the charts - cooked perfectly and served with beans and greens. They have a menu that there were so many good choices that I had a hard time deciding what to order. Our server, Joshua, was very attentive and made some great suggestions on what to order.

Our new go-to for brunch since we live close. I was able to order stuff not on the menu (eg added a side pancake to my avocado toast and scrambled egg, all of which were excellent). Drip coffee is delicious and my husband loved his espresso. Comfy atmosphere. They serve Easy Tiger sourdough, which is our personal favorite for toast. Friendly, attentive staff.

Hard to impress with a holiday prefix, but chef made a wonderful effort. Incredibly diverse and creative moles. A little light on the salt for my taste. Flavors are quite delicate, and could be brought forward with a touch more salt. Great bar.

First, let me say, our waitress was very nice but seemed too busy to take care of a six course meal paired with wine. New Year’s Eve, restaurants should be going above and beyond and that didn’t take place. The DJ outside in the patio was preparing for the party outside. His music was extremely loud and was competing with the music inside. It made it difficult to hear the first hour. For $110 per person, we were not given any descriptions of what we were served unless we asked. The wine pairing was extra and again, nothing was talked about when served unless we asked. I do not feel the price vs value matched. It should have been an experience and it definitely wasn’t.

We had a large party and the restaurant was super accommodating even with 2 babies in tow. The service was excellent and Craig the manager was so sweet when checking on our meal. Food was delicious and the chef’s recommendations were spot on! Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful casual place for Christmas brunch after a very big family Christmas Eve! The wait staff was energetic and helpful. We had plenty of space for conversation and excellent food.

The food was wonderful. Presentation was very different but really pleasing. Everything about it was nice except for parking in the correct lot as it is all paid parking.

The amazing GM, Craig, made my family’s experience in downtown Austin one to remember. We’ll be back. Alicia’s great service, too! Loved the pumpkin spice espresso martini (even in December) and the lamb!! Must try’s.
