Velvet 48 is a premium wine bar in downtown Burlingame started by 20-year wine industry veteran, Jason Cooper. We offer over 40 wines by the glass, 1100 wines by the bottle, a cultivated beer selection, and a variety of delicious savory and sweet small plates.

We have wines across every price point so there is something for everyone, from the casual wine drinker to the wine aficionado, who will be impressed by a wine collection that houses some of the finest wines in the world. We aim to cultivate an experience for our guests that starts with a complimentary splash of our house label, Velvet 48 Sparkling wine, followed by outstanding service from our Wine Specialists to guide you through our expansive list. We offer a discount of 25% off bottles purchased TO GO.

Due to the nature of our alcoholic license, we are unable to allow anyone under 21 on the premises, including infants.

We love Velvet 48. The complementary rose always starts the night off right! Lots of wines and price points to choose from. We love the flights!

Amazing wine bar! It small but not crowded, the music selection is fantastic but not too loud, they dont get crowded enough for the noise to drown out music or conversation. The food is delightful, and their wine selection is one of the best I've ever seen. Got a bottle of Trimbach Clos St. Hune to take home after sampling several delicious wine flights. Staff are also incredibly friendly and make you feel like family.

A great wine bar in downtown Burlingame for wine tasting and snacks. I feel so comfortable in the cozy space and the service was top notched. You can have a conversation here easily so it's a great afterwork hangout or if you need a cool place to do networking.

This is our second time going now. Service again was very good and super attentive. The wine selection is outstanding and honestly overwhelming. We just usually get the flights to be able to sample what they recommend. The flatbread pizza is very tasty with good crunch texture. Will go back again!

The spicy calabrese flatbread was delicious. The wine list is enormous, including many by-the-glass options. I appreciate that they are willing to take reservations for even just 1 person, which I recommend for Friday/Saturday nights.

Had a great birthday experience here. The staff were so nice, friendly, and welcoming. They were very attentive to all the guest. This place is a very chill vibes…drinking wine and having great conversation with friends. Love the simplicity of this place

We booked here to have some drinks and a light bite to eat for our anniversary. Reviews were pretty good so decided to give it a try. The place is a little tucked away from the street so you won’t see it unless you know to look for it. But once inside you’re in for a very pleasant surprise with a nice clean place with shelves of wines all around. There’s a small bar, some bench seating, and a handful of small tables. The service was super friendly. Being our first time their our server explained how we could order a bottle of wine, an assortment of different choices of wine flights, a small selection of beers, and some food choices. We ordered the spicy reds flight, European reds flight, and a Margherita flatbread pizza. Before ordering we were offered a small glass of their house sparkling rosé. And for dessert we had the pistachio ricotta cake. Everything was very good. Our service throughout the evening was very friendly and attentive. Best of all, the flights were labeled so we could remember what we were drinking. If you’ve ever had wine or beer flights you’ll know what I mean so we were very appreciative of this nice touch. We will definitely be back. We really enjoyed the service and the quality of the food and drinks.
