Welcome to Varia, a Romantic, Upscale Italian Restaurant in Norfolk.
Varia, our Italian restaurant and wine studio, features wine by the glass and a pianist six nights a week. Indulge in homemade pasta, freshly tossed pizzas from our brick oven, or signature Italian desserts like the tiramisu. Varia's modern Italian fare is made from only the best local ingredients and the wine studio features over 100 hand-selected wines, including 50 by the glass.
The dining room's intricate finishes and the warm glow of its reclaimed chandelier, formally of the Historic Cavalier's ballroom, offers an intimate ambiance that invites conversation over a full bodied merlot. Guests can book the ultra private dining room only accessible by hidden doors in the bookshelves for special events.

                                                                      The food and drinks were fantastic. We definitely recommend the carbonara. A wonderful saxaphone player added a nice, relaxing touch to the welcoming atmosphere. But it was our server, Kaylee, who truly made the night special. So friendly, attentive, and efficient. Well done.

                                                                      Service, wine, and drinks were wonderful. Issues with food were, octopus was tough, would use smaller more delicate variety. Then entrees were very long in coming. Not an issue with server, she was great. The braised short rib was FANTASTIC, but both the 24 hr. Pork Chop and octopus were over spiced, and overpowered the tastes in the dishes. Loved the music concept, but given the separation in spaces, could barely hear my server or wife until much later in the evening.

                                                                      We were seated immediately. Had awesome service and food. It was a great atmosphere. This was our first time visiting Varia but we will definitely be back.

                                                                      The food was alright. The actual buffet was good. The $4 cup of coffee was bad. The butter poached lobster was terrible. For almost $60 a person the water and coffee should have been free. Never going there again.

                                                                      We booked the Mother's Day Brunch. We were a semi- large group of 4 adults and 2 toddlers. They had no high chairs and only 1 booster. Luckily, they had bench seating on one side of our table. The raw bar was very fresh, however there were no labels or utensils for specialty items (no cocktail utensils for shrimp and oysters, not enough serving utensils on the buffet, no soup spoons/labels for soup, no labels for dressings or charcuterie). The plated meals for the event were fine, but side portions and menu variations were not available. Desserts were fine, but there were limited non-chocolate options, and again, there were no dessert utensils. The server was attentive and polite, which helped with the missteps. Drink options were good, and bottle service was well-executed.
