Valentina is casual neighborhood bistro and wine bar located in Leucadia along Hwy 101. Named after the owner's daughter, Valentina is a casual and welcoming spot that patrons can enjoy for good food, wine and the company of good friends. An eclectic mix of seasonal plates has been inspired by the owners’ passion for travel, reflecting the style of the classic bistros of Mexico City, Spain, and France.

Join us at Valentina to welcome back Chef Bobby Yates in a collaborative five-course tasting menu with Chef Jonathan Freyberg one night only: June 4th. Bobby has been sharpening his skills in the kitchen of James Beard semi-finalist Scoundrel (Greenville, SC) and is back to visit and collaborate with Chef Jonny, preparing plates such as grilled California halibut with salsa vizcaina and artichoke purée and tuna crudo with saffron and guajillo. The sommeliers have prepared two different wine pairings for the evening as well as a non-alcoholic beverage pairing. We'll see you there!

A really fun variety of delicious choices. We’re torn between ordering the same things we had last time or trying something new. That’s a great problem to have. Very attentive servers, the food arrives quickly and is plated artistically.

Had an amazing experience here. The food is incredible. We ordered 5 different tapas and all of them were delicious. Everyone is really nice here too.

Great food, ambiance and service. A fun place to dine with unique flavors. Dinner portions could be a tad larger but the small plates were perfect; we ordered several of those as our main meal and shared. We often dine at Valentina, both for lunch and dinner.

We really enjoyed Harvey. He and the rest of the staff did a fantastic job adjusting to our needs and made our Mother's Day brunch quite enjoyable.

Food was good but their cocktails are batch made (so not freshly made when you order). We both got a martini and whatever was in them made us both sick that night. Pretty disappointed in that and won’t be able to stomach going back anytime soon.

Thank you for the review! We have limited space at our wine bar, so we batch our cocktails fresh every day. We use only gin and vermouth for our martini. We're not certain which of these two ingredients made you sick, however we appreciate the opportunity to review the product and ensure it is reaching every guest as we hope it will :)

I celebrated my birthday with friends at Valentina’s last night and it was an AMAZING experience! Super cute venue, the food was great and the service we received from our server Kimmy was exceptional!! Will definitely be back. Thank you for making my birthday feel special 💞💞

Valentina is always fabulous. The food is amazing and unique, always consistent. The wine list is also great, with many options but it doesn’t overwhelm. Service is always fantastic. We are so lucky to live down the street!

Small, stylish, comfortable restaurant with a solid tapas menu. We had the anchovy toast, quail, patatas-bravas and the Iberian ham fritters. Delicious, lots of different flavors. Our server, Emma, was helpful and friendly. We'll be back!

Eggplant toast-dry & unseasoned. Broccolini salad was something that could have been purchased at a grocery store salad bar or buffet. I’m extremely confused why they’re so blasé about veggie/vegan options. In Europe, vegan options are literally everywhere. (I think they’re trying to go for euro vibes?) The staff also like to say “no” a lot. Wine was lovely. Vibes were loooovely as always.

A great restaurant (decor and ambiance - A+) with excellent service and delicious food. Only reason for giving 4 and not 5 stars on food was because of the somewhat limited menu. Not a huge deal as what we ate we thoroughly enjoyed (bread, gambas, croquette, shishito peppers, patatas, black rice, crème Catalan…would order all again). And, they do have an extensive wine list and excellent cocktails, which helps smooth things over!

We had a family birthday dinner here, and we all loved the experience. Spanish food and oysters were top-notch. Very casual atmosphere and decor, and our server was excellent, prompt, and knowledgeable. Wine-list is expensive, especially when Spain offers so many great values on wine. We had a bottle of Champagne ($84) and their lowest priced Albarino ($72), and the total bill came to over $400 with tip.

My hubby and I came here for a date night. The food was fresh, creative use of flavors that paired beautifully together. Delicious! The service was excellent as well. We’ll be back. ;)

Delicious cold water oysters as a starter. We had the gambás w/garlic oil w/fries, beef tartare, basque cake for dessert. Attentive and welcoming staff. Highly recommend!!

This is the 3rd time after coming at least 10 times that the food was sub par. When I first started coming to this restaurant, the food was unbelievable. It was perfect. It was delicious and there was no problem. The last three times I have come there was one problem after another with the food, including this time when the food was placed on our table, my friend and I smelled very strong and unpleasant fishy odor. This was a first when I complained about the muscles tasting somewhat off, the manager tried to make it sound like there’s always some kind of a fishy smell too muscles. I stopped him because this was a bad fish smell. It wasn’t a bony smell that oysters or shellfish have which is lovely and we couldn’t figure out if it was the muscles and the fish or just the muscles my friendtook the skin off of her fish and she seemed to think it was OK although she said that the flavor was not great!

we started with the artichokes (which we always do!) and they were delicious as expected. then the Caesar Salad side was the perfect amount to share the Sea Bass was perfectly cooked as well. Had to throw in the Patatas Bravas just because they are so good!

This is one of our favorite neighborhood gems. But, I forgot how loud it is inside! We had hoped to sit on the covered patio, but I made a mistake with open table, and we were seated in the inside area which is very crowded and loud. We asked about sitting on the sidewalk, but was told that the tables are too small for a party of 4. Bummer. It was so loud that we could not hear each other talk. Very unfortunate. The food was delicious (except for the croquetta, which was all bechemela and no ham) Zero texture. Anyway, the mussels, gambas, squid and fish entree were superb. We will be back, but hope for a better seating choice

Been coming here for year. Sad they had to change the paella slightly… it isn’t as good as their original. Overall service was awesome, food was delicious and we’ll be back again!

Harvey was our waiter and he was awesome: gave great direction, suggestions without being overbearing, attentive to any needs and warm, friendly. The food is next level- truly a dining experience- not a mass restaurant throwing together frozen ingredients. Highly recommended!

Overall this is by far the best spanish food in SD, I loved everything was really good I’m happy we found this place. The service wasn’t rude they just were so crammed with having to take care of everyone it was a tough watch and also you could feel they were very drained from everything. The only thing missing from Valentina is a waiter or two more… thank you!
