With a curated menu of elevated tailgate fare and an extensive bar program, Utopian Tailgate delivers high times, chill vibes, and an unforgettable experience where the party never ends... and neither do the views.

Perched high atop Piper's Alley, above world-famous comedy enclave The Second City, Utopian Tailgate is Chicago's best never-ending rooftop party. Super-sized Jenga, drinking games, disco dance party, and a whole lot more mix with elevated eats and whimsical whistle-wetters all year ‘round.

Reservations are encouraged, but we always accept walk-ins until we reach capacity. Reservations will be held for 15 minutes. We offer indoor and outdoor table reservations, as well as party booths (with minimum required spend). We're a 21+ venue.

I enjoyed my time I came here for my birthday with a few friends. We reserved a table. We ordered drinks, wings, and fried pickles we were amazing. The the only thing is 2 hours went by they forgot our food😭 and the kitchen was closed by then but the chef made our food and gave us complimentary shots and a large nacho. I definitely will come here again the customer service was amazing overall!

Excellent service by our server (can’t remember her name) and manager Mark. Some of the items were a little pricey, and a couple of drinks we wanted to order were not available. But other than that, everything was delicious!

The atmosphere was electric. Appetizers were good. Drinks exceptional. Will be back when the weather is much nicer.

Service was pretty bad and drinks were good but expensive. Honestly the vibe is cool, but we probably won’t go back. Food was meh

Changes to the reservation were almost impossible. Eventually someone answered the phone after awhile. Security check point gave TSA vibes be prepared to wait in line to get screened and allowed in. We were seated right away because we had reservations. The hostess gave us our server’s name along with info to not order at the bar and only with our server. Additionally told we had our table for 2 hours before we would have to move to bar if we wished to stay longer. Our original server never showed. After about 40 minutes we visited the host again to request some waters. After another 20 minutes a new server came with waters and took our drink order. The newly assigned server then brought out our drinks after 20 minutes and we placed some light food orders. After our food came out we never saw our server again. We played some games. Have ID ready in exchange for games. Eventually we grew tired of waiting. We visited host final time to request out bill. Eventually the bill came out (15 min). The drinks were great wished we were able to get another round. Food was mid. The views were wonderful. The games were fun. The overall ambiance was great. It was not as packed as I thought for a May 60 degree Friday evening. The service was bad. Their excuse was miscommunication and newly trained staff. Team building might be a good idea for the crew.

The night we went the server was very overwhelmed, kept making lots of statements blaming other tables, the bar keg/tap, the printer that conveys the orders to the kitchen, the kitchen. The food was not very good and definitely not worth the wait to get it nor the expense. When we did finally get our food, over an hour after our reservation time, the orders were wrong. This place is a fun, young atmosphere for drinks and activities but go somewhere else to eat.

There's no kitchen, really disappointing if you're looking for food. Great rooftop but have to offer some food options.

I booked a table. Was told there were no more tables and that they couldn’t make anyone get up since people were not closing their tabs… We were also served drinks out of dirty used glasses. Disgusting!
