Established in 2012, I started Urban Grill and Wine Bar to add a quality restaurant with a full bar and boutique wine list to an area that is in desperate need of something unique and family operated. Having spent most of our adult lives in the restaurant business, my wife Jaylene and I understand the importance that our food be of the highest quality and our service be very friendly and professional. Our menu offers a variety of dishes from simple but delicious sandwiches to the best steaks and seafood around.

Loved my experience with Urban Grill and Wine Bar. I had reservations for Mother’s Day on the patio but it was raining and the hostess quickly gave us an additional option of sitting at the bar since seating was full inside. Erin our bar tender was so warm and funny! I will definitely be going back to this establishment soon!

Our birthday celebration at Urban Grill was first class. From, Robin our knowledgeable and attentive waitress to the timing of the courses everything was spot on this night. The Halibut special was as good a cook as I've ever had and the Fettuccini Bolognese (meat) was excellent. The Apple fritters for dessert put us over the top for wonderful dining experience.

Food is very good with fresh, good quality ingredients. Our waitress did a great job of describing the dishes and answering our questions. Drinks were also great! We hope to make this a regular place to eat

First, the service was excellent. The ambience is quaint and we had a nice quiet table so we could enjoy our date. Also, the food selection on the menu looked fantastic. Kudos to whoever wrote the menu for the excellent descriptions and good pictures. But I will never go back and here is why – The crabcake had so much mayonnaise and other chemicals underneath it that it overwhelmed the dish to such a degree that my date and I who shared one, ate less than half of it. When we could manage to taste anything other than coleslaw infused with mayonnaise and an array of other creamy looking chemicals, the cake itself had a good texture and a nice ratio of crab meat, binders, and breading. But again that sloppy an excessive amount of mayonnaise and other “stuff” underneath the dish made it look unappetizing, and on that point, it did not disappoint. My date ordered the lobster risotto which she said was “good”, though she never offered me a taste, and she ate less than half of it so I will leave that to your discretion. I ordered the pork chop, which was described as “to die for“ and where the crab cake was overwhelmed with sauces and mayonnaise. The pork chop was slightly lacking in au jou or dressing if you will. It was slightly overcooked, but not to any degree that would make it undesirable. it was beautifully presented, and if not for the complete failure on the potato, I would actually go back if only for the chop. But it was served with what can only be described as a small baked potato that had serrations on the top as if the cutter making au gratin potatoes had only made it halfway through. The potato in general was overcooked to the point that the skin had to be cut with a knife and the potato itself was dry and generally pathetic. It was delivered with butter and sour cream but the overall failure of the potato was such that I didn’t even bother.

We have been coming since they opened. We had reservations but ended up eating at the bar as there were a lot of open seats and the floor was crowded. We actually had a bit more privacy at the bar. Great service at the bar as well. Glad to see that the restaurant is staying busy!

First time at this venue. Initially so noisy outside with the festival outside asked to be moved indoors. But attempted to be seated in the bar rather than restaurant. We were relegated to feet from the kitchen. The specials were rattled off with descriptions but no prices. But this looks like a mid level place so prices should be comparable to the menu prices one would hope. Burrata was the appetizer plenty for two people but literally a blob of cheese and an occasional cherry tomato and a piece or two of garlic drowned in some very tasteless pesto. Dinner entrees followed the Lobster tail special was a 9oz tail served on a bed of mashed potatoes however showed up on a bed of fingerling type potatoes instead. That was rectified poster haste however it was not as described. And while asparagus are seasonal these apparently came from the redwood forest as they were thick and woody. One would expect that the kitchen would peel them to reduce their girth and remove some of the coarseness of the vegetable. The surprise came when the bill arrived where a $90 charge for the “special” — I’m sorry, but market price for a 9oz tail at a seafood restaurant in Dallas proper is about $45-$60 at the more fine outlets. This was outrageous. Not to mention their highest priced entree is below $60. We did not stay for dessert the noise level made it prohibitive to have a conversation and so we paid and departed. Overall, the food and service are adequate. There is nothing that jumps out as “Wow” but solid choice for a downtown eatery in McKinney.

One of the best meals I have eaten in a restaurant . Food was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Mussels and pork chops was AMAZING. Took the crème brûlée home and the sugar topping was still crunchy when eaten. Such a beautiful gem for the McKinney area. Could not have asked for a better experience 🩷.

The 6 of us had a wonderful time last night at Urban Grill. Our server, Brady, was attentive and encouraged us to try the specials that night. My friend got the lobster risotto, served with shrimp and a scallop… and it was delightful. My filet mignon was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I subbed in the spicy glazed brussel sprouts for the asparagus and it was the outright winner at the table. I would love to get that recipe! It was nice for my other friend to get excellent gluten free options… all in all we enjoyed our evening and certainly will be back.

The Urban Grill is always a great place for getting together with friends. The food and cocktails were very good, the service was excellent. Waitstaff were cordial, professional and knowledgeable. I've eaten there multiple times and will return!

The food was prepared perfectly with excellent flavors. Our party had seafood and steak entrées, both of which were excellent. We started with calamari and tuna tatar and enjoyed them both, although the ratio of cucumber to tuna was a bit off, taking away from the flavor of the fish. However, the seasoning and sauces were excellent. We did not try dessert, but likely will next time. We had no room this time. The wine selection is pretty extensive including international lines.

Had the Lamb and it was delish! Our drinks were tasty. The Smore old fashion very good! The Charcuterie Board we had as an appetizer and even my little one enjoyed a few bites.

My husband and I finally got to eat here after wanting to try it for a while. The ambiance was great, the food was absolutely amazing, and the service was superb. We will definitely be returning in the near future!

I wasn't sure about this spot as I am not from the area but everything was amazing! Lamb chops cooked perfectly, great wine selection, and the meatballs were very tasty! I will be back.

Service was fantastic! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. This was our first visit and the food was very good but not exceptional. Cool atmosphere and very extensive wine list!

Came here one Saturday with some girl friends. We thought we needed to make a reservation, but once we got there, the place was EMPTY. The food was good. The service was good. I’d say everything was good. Just not exceptional. It was weird to walk into an empty restaurant. But we would probably do it again.

The filet was my favorite of the evening. Better than any known steakhouse. Sea bass and lobster risotto was a close contender. Don’t miss the crème brûlée for dessert!
