Inspired by the rich history of Pier 38, Upstairs at Pier 38 is a place to gather that encompasses locally caught seafood, sourced by the renowned Honolulu Fish Auction, featuring USDA Prime Steak. Our Executive Chef adds their own creativity to the menu by collaborating with Chef Nico Chaize, to create island cuisine using rustic French techniques.

Experience our cozy lounge setting inspired by a “home away from home.” Smokey wood accents with high industrial ceilings, glowing lights, and a majestic copper bar will allow our guests to unwind with ease. Seating in the dining room is spacious and perfect for large parties or an intimate date night.

We are happy to offer a contemporary wine list with old-world treats, locally crafted beers, and captivating one-of-a-kind cocktails. Our team prefers reservations; however, walk-ins are always welcome!

My first time here with my mainland friends visiting on their 8th anniversary. Everything was delicious & we were surprised & happy with the sparkling apple cider & berry cheesecake at the end. My friends appreciated this ❤️

Wine range on the expensive side. Waitress would not ask the chef to consider a special meal modification I made of her. Food is excellent.

The food was awesome but my ceaser salad was wimpy. Lettuce was not crispy but wilted because I guess the dressing was put on way too early and let sit too long. I would have preferred the dressing added at the table. The food was outstanding as usual though.

Our tour guide recommended Nico’s and his French-inspired restaurant, Upstairs. My husband and I were here to celebrate our 30th anniversary so we went with the nicer restaurant Upstairs. A bit out of the hustle and bustle. Amazing Spanish Octopus appetizer and baked Brie. My husband loved his special fish dish. Elliot was a great waiter and explained all of the dishes and flavors and spices. Even gave us glasses of wine and dessert for anniversary. View of harbor is pretty, too, especially at night. Highly recommend.

First time there to celebrate a birthday. Didn’t know what to expect. Pleasantly surprised and glad we went. We all enjoyed our dinners and hope to return again. Service was good too w/a friendly and informed staff! Noticed that tables were spread out adequately to allow for table conversation as well as helping to keep the noise level in the restaurant down!

The food was very disappointing. My meal came cold. We had six people, but one would expect a restaurant of this price range to have the ability to bring plates to the table. I asked for bread, and was charged $15 for four rolls. Nice place, but disappointing.

This was the second choice for a birthday dinner for my friend because of the weather. We all enjoyed the food and service. I thought the prices were higher then I wanted to spend but I have to say it was well worth it. Wait help was excellent.

We had reservations for four people, but two of us had delays. The restaurant was very nice to wait an hour for them to arrive. We were then seated right away. They have a couple nice lounging areas to sit and wait. The food was excellent, but be aware that it is ordered and paid for by course. It worked out ok though. Beautiful view of the harbor. The best part is that they allowed us to have our little 6 lb paralyzed dog to come with us.

If you haven’t tried Upstairs at Pier 38 you are missing a fabulous experience. The ambiance is fabulous…huge oval shaped copper bar; view of a working pier filled with fishing boats and container ships (reminiscent of Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco); a warm atmosphere created by innovative lighting and tasteful use of natural wood. The wait staff is very professional and engaging. The food was spectacular…try the lobster or the fish prep of the day. We’ll be back.

We have been to numerous restaurants on island and this was the best one we have been to. Everything from the wait staff to food to ambiance was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable staff from food to wine with perfectly timed food delivery. The most enjoyable evening out since our arrival a year ago.

Our server, Shelby, was the star of the show. She was very attentive and knowledgeable. My husband enjoyed his French onion soup and I loved the pear and beet salad. The fish entree I had was good. My husband had requested the sauce on his sea bass plate to be different. It came without the change but the server quickly remedied the situation. A birthday cheesecake was a nice surprise. Gave it to my husband and I had the 3 tartlets. The key lime was great. I wasn’t wild about the butternut squash. The crème brûlée fell a bit short. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and had a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Told hostess it was our anniversary because she asked. No special recognition. Disappointing. Food was good, but overpriced. Filet mignon was so small and no starch included… won’t return soon

Food was perfectly balanced flavors (without an over reliance on salt) and the cocktails were exquisitely crafted - truly earning the title craft cocktail. The restaurant does a phenomenal job of making a working port feel like a fancy view - it’s still not a beautiful view per say, but as someone living on the island who doesn’t want downtown Honolulu every date night, this was a perfect balance of high end, convenient, and island views.

The seafood tower was excellent. Our waiter seemed distracted. We ordered escargot and never got it. My son's steak was blood red when we order it medium. No one ever came by to see if we wanted a second round of drinks.

Disappointing - made a reservation noting we were celebrating a birthday, but there was no recognition of this - no dessert (which is fine), but we at least expected a simple "Happy Birthday"....It's not like the resturant was busy, there were at most only 6 tables occupied... Food was ok, but we'll never be back.

Service was very good. Staff was very helpful for drinks and courtesy to our dinner party. Ambiance was good, table was away from the noise in the center of the room, highly recommend a window table.

Had a reservation and waited at an empty front desk for 10 minutes Cold scallops - twice “Maine lobster tail” was 3 inches long and seriously overcooked for 38 dollars. Not like any Maine lobster tail I’ve ever had and I’m from the northeastern US. Martini was great. View was great.
