Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.

Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.

On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

Updown has several beautiful spaces in which to host your private event. We have a beautiful conservatory Private Dining Room overlooking the farmhouse lawn. It is perfect for groups of 4 to 14 for a seated meal, or up to 20 for a drinks party. The main restaurant can accommodate up to 50 sitting or 150 standing and is ideal for a larger party.

Enjoy the best roast chicken around every Thursday night at Updown, in our beautiful dining room set amid rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines and watch the chefs in the open kitchen cooking whole roast chickens in our huge wood oven. The three course menu always has a seasonal starter, roast chicken to share, and a dessert option, for £30. Here's a sample menu: Asparagus Soup with Poached Egg & Pancetta - Whole Roast Chicken to Share with Wild Garlic, Gratin Dauphinois & Green Salad - Chocolate Torte with Creme Fraiche £30 pp Our a la carte menu is also available every Thursday for other main course options.

Delicious fresh ingredients and a wonderful overall experience. One thing is that although the lemon tart was fantastic I would have liked a bit of choice in the desserts. Thank you. I will be back!

A great experience in a special place. We came on a Sunday with a 40£ set menu, and everything was really good. The starters, the roast, the dessert: just perfect. Great service and an incredibile atmosphere. We arrived by bike and they accomodated us with storing our bikes in a more secure place than the car park. Highly recommend!

People must try the Sunday Lunch here. On a sunny afternoon the food, atmosphere and the gardens are just perfect. Even the wine was good. Waitresses busy and professional

My first time here after hearing about it from two of my work colleagues who have stayed here in the last few weeks. Absolutely blown away by everything, the food absolutely impeccable, the grounds are just amazing. Definitely recommend a visit. Well done to the team and the owners such a beautiful place
