The quality and presentation of the food was excellent. Service was somewhat slow, with the waiter handling too many tables. The noise level was too high for a great restaurant. The price point was such that I am unlikely to return.

Food was good but the service was probably the worst I’ve seen in Boston. Our waiter was rude and it took a long time to place orders. They didn’t serve soy sauce with the sushi and it took a very long time to get some. It’s a shame because I live close by and the food was good, but will never be coming back here given how atrocious the serving was for the amount of money you spend.

Asked to move tables because we were too close to the people next to us (touching knees). It was made to seem like a very inconvenient request but they did it. After that no one came and served us for 30 min. Once I complained they came and let us know kitchen is closing so we have to order fast. Ordered the crab fried rice and it came covered in an unnecessary amount of herbs and greenery. We thought it was a salad. The “noodles” were awful. Ordered toro nigiri that never even showed up. All in all a huge disappointment and we’ll never be back. We will also warn everyone we know to stay away.

Service and ambience were delightful but the food servings were minuscule and very expensive for what they were. With the exception of the caviar which was fabulous simply because the serving wasn’t very small and the taste was amazing.

Uni was great, but on the pricier side. Nigiri was the star of the show; we tried 6 different fish, but the toro was my absolute favorite. It just MELTS. If you're going to try any sashimi it has to be the tuna tataki with foie gras *chefs kiss*. The wild turbot was also delicious. The fiddlehead tempura was the only thing we ordered that was underwhelming. Atmosphere is a cool, loungey vibe but it's a little difficult to find the bathroom (definitely ask the staff).

We’ve been here multiple times. The sushi remains top tier. Special treat for our new college graduate. Highlights: The spicy tuna foie gras sashimi and foie gras nigiri were amazing. Also the unagi nigiri. Oh and the milk punch cocktail, and coconut rice pudding.

I don’t know which one was better; service or food! Staff are very informative about the menu, and service was right on the time for every dish. It was my first time experiencing this cuisine, I loved it! Don’t expect American portions, but you will feel full after having 3-4 dish per person. Definitely will come back!

Loved it!!! Incredibly relaxing date night, we did chefs choice and it was so tasty with a really ideal sake pairing.

The first waiter that talked to us had the worst breath ever, not a great start. Doesn’t seem like there is any dress code for the wait staff as they were all very poorly dressed, wearing shorts, old sweatpants etc. The tasting menu was not worth the money. Not even close. Uni spoon was not even close to as good as anyone said it was, to much egg yolk, no texture. Overall very disappointing for $600

We had another excellent meal at Uni last night. We go to Uni every time we travel to Boston as the food is creative, great flavor combinations that compliment the main ingredient of the dish, and executed flawlessly. The service team is very knowledgeable about all the dishes both with questions when you order the dish as well as an explanation when each dish is delivered as the food flows out tapas style. Mark is a great Server as we have had him several times and the entire service team hustle to ensure that you have a great dining experience.

Fantastic food and cocktails! So many fun nigiri and sashimi to try, and a lovely staff who were attentive and helpful when we needed advice. Highly recommend!

Loved the food and service but disappointed that despite a reservation there was no table available in the main restaurant (we opted for seating at the bar rather than being squeezed into the downstairs area). Not what I expected given what we spent on the tasting menu plus drinks/wine.

Uni was great for our party of four. We had a vegan, a vegetarian, a red meat fan and an omnivore and everyone left satisfied. Our drinks, with spirits and without, were fun and different and the service was fantastic. Easy going and at our speed.

Most of the food was delicious but very disappointed in the Wagoo beef dumplings. They were overcooked and bland. Large birthday party was near us and they were very loud, making our experience less than ideal

We tried the prix fixe tasting menu, which was expensive ubt imaginative, and some dishes were excellent. The experience was marred by the very loud noic levels in the restaurant. Serivce was friendly, but a bit slow between courses.

I went one year ago and was much more impressed by the drinks and the selection of food. I felt this time the options were very run of the mill Japanese with nothing inventive. The Uni spoon was great both times but not worth $26. For the price of everything on the menu I wanted to be surprised by the curation, I just wasn’t. There are just so many other upscale Japanese places in Boston that feel more devoted to the craft. If I see updates to the menu I’ll consider going back but at this time it’s probably not a place I’d go again if I’m looking for a really well curated experience.

It’s unfortunate when poor service ruins your experience. When you request spacing between dishes, and everything arrived in extremely rapid succession, so much we had to pile the uncollected items ! Having to request your drinks and soy sauce…in a Japanese restaurant! Our waiter was MIA, and truly didn’t care about his job. It wasn’t even a busy night! As we were leaving I informed the hostess of our less than perfect experience, she offered to have us talk to the manager, but by then all we wanted to do was leave. This was truly a disappointment! Expensive food and poor service! We will not return.

Something has changed with Uni since our last visit. The service was excellent. The sushi was good. Not sure what's going on the music choice. It's too hip hop and too loud. Is that a Sunday night thing? Lastly, the value proposition is now at the point where you should look around at alternatives.

Absolutely phenomenal food and service. We had about 14 dishes at dinner and each course continued to “wow” and surprise us. The whole team there was great, no matter who was dropping dishes or drinks. Chef Baz creates some of the most memorable meals and the GM Harrison was a pleasure to speak to. Will definitely come back!

Waited over an hour to eat mediocre food. I specifically asked the hostess if they could make my friend feel special for her bday, and she made a big show of promising she would (and told me she would let the waitress know). And they completely forgot to do anything for her. We won’t be back.

We were seated behind the beam, at the sushi bar at 8pm even though we had reservations, so the seating arrangement was bad. The sushi was mediocre, the soy sauce came in 20 mins after we got the sushi. And they have this new thing called “kitche appreciation fee”. There are really good sushi places in Boston, i would not waste money there.
