This was our second time here because we Jace such a great meal the first time. Great wine list and deficits, authentic Italian that's different from your everyday standards. Great for a group or a twosome.

Great service, fun vibe and amazing food! The servings are smaller, which I appreciate because I can rarely finish a meal at restaurants. And, the plating of the food is beautiful! Definitely recommend this restaurant when in Chicago!

Both dinner and brunch at UMMO are absolutely divine. After our meal we ventured upstairs to the loft for live jazz in a few more cocktails. A Chicago must try!

Came for brunch. Drinks and service were spot on! As fast or as slow as we would have wished. Pleasant and helpful without hovering. Wonderful food…the wagyu was a standout, can’t wait to return.

Food is mediocre at best. Service was so slow once we ordered. We couldn’t eat the gnocchi because it was like melted rubber. When we complained they did take it off the bill. Branzino was best dish. I will not be back.

Best meal I had during my stay in Chicago! So much so, I ate there twice!! Service, food and atmosphere superb each time. Their attention to detail and their professionalism is to be commended. The food - outstanding. I normally don't order chicken when I dine out, but this roasted chicken was sent from the heavens. Ummo will be on my list for any future visit.

We were disappointed with our meal here. The service was helpful but the food disappointed. The arancini was delicious, but we found the avocado burrata not balanced and missing the vinegar, and the mushroom gnocchi was really disappointing. The texture and flavour was lacking, and the gnocchi itself wasn’t formed or cooked quite right, it turned in to mash potatoe on the plate. There was also a cocktail that I returned as it was lacking sweetness and balance, and I NEVER not drink a cocktail. Lovely space but was a very disappointing meal.

Was blown away by the dining experience at Ummo! Unique dishes (with lots of flavor), modern plating, and cool, lounge-y ambiance makes this one of my new favorites in Chicago. The waitstaff were friendly and accommodating (I called to push my reservation back 30 minutes with no issue). Despite a late res time we were served quickly and given great recommendations from our server, Francisco. He was extremely knowledgeable about the flavors and preparation style of each dish. We ordered the octopus, cacio e pepe, lobster ravioli, branzino, and wagyu steak, which were all exceptional. The ravioli in particular was unique and delectable. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the branzino had a ton of flavor. We ended our night with tiramisu and our waiter comped us some delicious red wine because we were celebrating date night. :) Would absolutely recommend trying Ummo for any foodies in Chicago who want a unique and flavorful experience!

Food was not worth the price & the service was lackluster for the price point. One of our pastas was not served with the pasta course & then brought out after everyone was done eating… then the server said they would take it off the bill & it was still on when we paid. Also there were 2 flat beers sent to our table. Just overall not worth it at all - would not recommend.

Very delicious. Loved the food. I will say the waitress felt a little pushy on ordering more plates of food. Altough portion sizes are small, they are filling. Would recommend.

Absolutely loved our experience. Our server Madison was so much fun and had lovely recommendations for us. The cocktails were tasty and well balanced. We loved the Italian wine selection. The wagyu, Caesar, burrata and risotto were all excellent. Deserts were mind blowing. Loved the sweet/savory mix from the Pomodoro and the Parmesan cheesecake. The manager also stopped in to say hello which was a nice touch. 10/10 would recommend UMMO.

The best dining experience I ever had. Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, best service from the staff. Very accommodating and the waitress knew everything about the food, the chef, the silverware (LOL). Will definitely come back again.

Loved the vibe & design of the dining area, the velvet & dark wood elevated the experience. The service was lovely all the way around from hostess, to server, and bussers. The food & drinks were delicious. We started with meatballs, avocado & burrata, and arancini. We shared multiple pastas as the main course and were very pleased. The lobster ravioli and cacio e pepe were our favorites. Definitely will be back.

Food was ok. Service could not have been worse. We were seated for about 30 mins before the server came to the table. We had to flag the server in many opportunities and ask for drinks. Towards the end of the night, the restaurant was empty and he was standing around talking to other servers and we were still waiting for drinks. Then he had the audacity to add gratuity and service. I have never asked for gratuity to be taken off a bill and I did for the first time last night. Will not be back.

We went for brunch and the food was excellent - perfect omelet, smoked salmon on home made brioche and innovative crafted cocktails. Great service as well - Spencer was knowledgable and friendly - we even got a tour of the entertainment loft upstairs. We'll be back for dinner!

The entire experience at UMMO was exceptional. Our table had an excellent server, Fernando. We order the lamb, the lobster ravioli and tortellini; presentation was beautiful and the food was amazing. We had the tiramisu and cheesecake which were like no other dessert we have ever had before.

I would put Ummo on your shortlist of new restaurants to try. A new Italian restaurant is a tough bar to meet, and Ummo not only hit, but exceeded it. Great food all around, and even better atmosphere. Highly recommend the Mortadella & Ricotta fritters, Arancini, the Tortellini, and surprisingly the Pollo Rosso was excellent too. After dinner, would also suggest grabbing a few cocktails in the upstairs Loft area. They have DJ that will go on around 10:00pm.

Ummo’s food unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. The side of carrots was the best part! Service was inattentive, even when ordering a bottle of wine and many dishes. I would have to recommend trying another restaurant if you’re considering here!

I'd say Ummo didn't quite live up to its hype. Upon arriving at the restaurant, our waiter's demeanor seemed forced and somewhat off-putting. As we ordered, we had some inquiries about the menu, but our waiter made dismissive remarks about certain ingredients, labeling them as "rich people food" and expressing his personal dislike for them. This lack of professionalism significantly detracted from our dining experience. Moreover, we observed our waiter attempting to flirt with a woman at the neighboring table, which was unprofessional. Furthermore, the food itself was rather underwhelming. We tried the cacio e pepe, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. Other meat dishes were overly salty and failed to justify their price. Overall, the evening was just okay, and there wasn't anything compelling enough to warrant a return visit. It's best to explore other dining options.

I’ve been looking forward to dining in at UMMO for awhile. I came in with my girlfriend this Tuesday around 7. I had high expectation considering the executive Chef Josè Sosa’s impressive background. I was not disappointed to say the least, also as someone who enjoys dining frequently. This was the best dinner of the year so far! It really checked all my boxes. Ambience was very sexy. Our server Fernando was knowledgeable, charismatic, and unobtrusive. My girlfriend and I felt like we were food critics because all we could talk about was the food the whole dinner. Every dish was delightful. We were treated like royalty even though it was our first time there. Mortadella do pistachio ricotta was heavenly! Market oysters were vibrant and delectable. Octopus carpaccio is equally as beautifully plated as it was delicious. The burrata with caviar enhancement is literally to die for. We practically licked the plate during the pasta course with the lobster pasta, and raviolo. Whole dinner was perfect, and the grand finally the Pomedoro dessert! It was the one the most interesting and exciting desserts I’ve ever had. I could keep literally keep raving about the place, but I’ve already written an essay. Anyway, can’t wait to go back to UMMO!
