Ula is a beautiful European Mediterranean restaurant and tapas bar in San Francisco. Sip your martini or quality wine with a seafood-centric menu that has a focus on raw, roasted, and grilled fish and various roasted and grilled meats, pasta, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan selections. The restaurant is maximalist art deco with fixtures that depict jellyfish, oysters, and grand maritime vessels. Just a hop from Union Square, the delightfully vintage dining room begs to be paired with a nostalgic trolley ride and a stroll through the heart of the city. Join us for an evening of melodic mariachi, lively libations, and familial food. Celebrate the Fathers and Father-like figures in your life with our exclusive Father's Day menu and specialty cocktails. Dining with Mariachi Guadalajara will take place in our Vault Room and will feature a special pop-up Mexican and Spanish inspired tasting menu by Chef Victor Cedillo and new cocktail menu featuring El Mayor Tequila and Yellowstone Bourbon. Father's Day Mariachi & Tequila Bourbon Dinner Experience: per person $115 inclusive; payment due at restaurant. Reservation seatings are between 5:00 and 7:00 PM on June 16. A la carte dining is available without Mariachi Guadalajara in our Jellyfish Room. We look forward to welcoming your family.

We read reviews before we went. The bad reviews were overstated. Our food was excellent. The facility could use a bit of updating, particularly if you are comparing it to Farallon in its prime. But it was clean. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, without being invasive and answered our questions. His answers/recommendations were spot on. We love the tapas concept and enjoyed many of the offerings. These ranged from very good to excellent. It is a little pricey, but it is San Francisco and we expected it. I would recommend it and I am picky. My compliments to the chef and his staff, and the waiter and wait staff. You made our evening before the opera something to remember fondly.

This is my third time dining at this restaurant today. It is so convenient to dine before or after seeing a play at SF Playhouse. My friend and I dined before the 3 pm show. It was so quiet today so we had the server’s attention fully on us. The dining room was clean with amazing decor. The service was great. The food like tapas and main course were so delicious. Our drinks were complementing with our food. I recommend Ula especially when going to the SF Playhouse. We shall return when seeing another play again.

Laughably awful. I didn’t have high hopes after reading other reviews but it was close to our hotel and the menu looked decent so we gave it a go. From the moment we walked in, I knew we should’ve walked back out. The hostess was no where to be found. Two other people tried to find our reservation but didn’t know what they were doing. When she finally appeared she acted annoyed that she had to do her job. The service was GOD AWFUL. I’m pretty sure no body cares because they automatically charge 20% gratuity, which they absolutely do not deserve. The waiter never told us his name, never introduced himself, never asked how the food was (maybe because he knew it was awful?), didn’t care in the least, and had zero personality. The steak we got was no where near the medium rare we asked for, the drink we ordered was different each time. The bartender clearly didn’t know how to make it. The food was horrible. So horrible that we couldn’t do anything else but laugh when we recieved our $250 bill for the worst service and food on the planet. It made for a good story that’s for sure, that’s about the only good thing that came from our dinner. save yourself the money and go somewhere else. :)

Tried this restaurant for the first time since it opened (used to be Farallon). It was nearly empty on a Friday at 12:30 which was surprising; I guess that's evidence of the City's problems because it was truly excellent from the service through the to the food. The varied menu is easily adapted to anyones taste. I'll be back.

I lucked out with finding this place. They were very accommodating with great service. It has a nice ambiance and nice decor to look at. The food is absolutely exceptional!

Service and kitchen here leave much to be desired. The restaurant wasn't very busy (now I know why). The server forgot to bring one dish and apologized. There was an inordinate amount of time for the food to arrive, about 40 minutes. I have to say the food was quite good. After finishing, the used plates were never cleared, even once I flagged down a person to get the check and paid it, still the dirty plates on the table. This was a rather unpleasant dining experience, recognized by the manager who comped us 50% appropriately. They automatically charge 20% server tip which was not deserved. I don't think there are going to be any Michelin stars in this one's front window.
