Le restaurant est fier d'annoncer... Le chef Tyson Cole est le grand vainqueur du James Beard Foundation Award 2011 pour le titre de « Best Chef Southwest ». Merci à la famille Uchiko et Uchi ainsi qu'aux amis pour leur soutien ! Uchi propose les talents culinaires de Tyson Cole, chef exécutif et maître sushi, lauréat du « meilleur nouveau chef en Amérique 2005 » élu par le magazine Food and Wine. Son menu alléchant est basé sur la tradition japonaise, associée à de nouvelles saveurs et influences. Uchi signifie « maison », et comme beaucoup de bars à sushi au Japon, Uchi est situé dans une maison ancienne rénovée. Son design dynamique ajoute une nouvelle dimension au quartier et a été chaleureusement accueilli par les gourmets d'Austin. Uchi accepte un nombre très limité de réservations et conserve bonne partie de la salle à manger pour les arrivées spontanées. La plupart des tables se remplissent donc sur le principe du premier arrivé premier servi. Tous les groupes doivent être complets avant d'être placés.

Uchi did not disappoint! This was our third night on our culinary journey in Austin. Without a doubt, it was the best Japanese food we have ever had. If we come back to Austin in the future, it will be on the top of our list. The signature dishes here are truly special. We opted for the Chef’s tasting menu as we were not sure of what to pick. It was definitely worth the choice. It is a must go to restaurant for anyone wanting exceptional food and service!

I haven’t been there for 2 years (I do not live in Austin) and it was just as AMAZING as I remembered. My favorite sushi restaurant in any city in the US!! It is delicious and such a fun experience.

Absolutely fantastic experience from walking in the door to walking out. Service is on point and seamless from host stand to bartender attending for us while awaiting seating… to the beverage server who helped us during the main and the sushi chefs behind the sushi bar. Great culture of workstaff. Food was incredible… fresh, clean, delicious, interesting enough to be entertaining without getting overly convoluted. The hot rock wagyu was a fun at-table feature. Sake options went exceptionally well with the seafood. I hear the desserts are good but finish with their savory seared foie gras and a glass of Sauternes and you’ll be in heaven without needing a traditional dessert.

From ambiance, to food quality, to the level of service, Uchi will always be a perfect spot in my book. We had such a good experience with Omar for happy hour. The food was so fresh and delicious and our table was touched by everyone. We had an amazing time :)

An Austin institution for a reason. Imaginative food and impeccable service. The acoustics could be better, but we were able to carry on a conversation comfortably. A must in the Austin food circuit.

Amazing! Dishes were well thought out & did not disappoint. Tried something from every column & I would highly recommend doing the same. We don’t like to be rushed at restaurants, especially nicer places, and the waitress seemed impatient with us. Still nice. The food runners, sweetest people & very knowledgeable about raw fish. Overall great experience.

Saca was so knowledgeable about the menu, which was great because it was our first time. Just tell her what tastes and textures you like and she will deliver. We told her we wanted to stay under $200 each, and what we got was filling and insanely delicious— the steak literally melts like cotton candy. The chefs back there are performing magic. Great spot for dinner dates, girls nights, or even family dinner.

The wait was a bit longer than expected since we made reservations but the food was worth the wait! So delicious. We adored the gluten free crispy chicken & salad wraps. Sushi was delectable as well!! 10/10

The 10 course meal is ridiculously overpriced. Although it tasted great, it felt very rushed. The server had a hard time with me explaining to her that I wanted a sake-bomb-like cocktail. Just a hot sake, a beer, and a small glass. I think she assumed I was going to bang the table or something. Like it wasn’t already loud enough in there. My husband and I left spending nearly $500 there. Buyers remorse for sure! I will not be back.

Uchi is always on the list of top restaurants in Austin. We have wanted to try it for years. We finally got a reservation on a Saturday night. To say we were underwhelmed is an understatement. I don't get the hype. I would say it was very eh. The service was great. The noise in the restaurant made it next to impossible to have a conversation. I would not go back. The food did not wow me in anyway.

Dining at Uchi is an excellent culinary adventure of the senses. We dined recently for my daughter birthday! We enjoyed the delicious dishes of sakana , the shag roll broccoli katsuanothrr fish dish and the outstanding complimentary dessert! The staff is so friendly and helpful.
