Tupelo Honey is a revival of Southern food and traditions rooted in the Carolina Mountains we call home. We craft brunches, lunches and suppers that bring family and friends around the table and allow for conversations and cocktails to linger longer than usual. Please arrive on time with all members in your party present. We will cancel reservations 15 minutes after the scheduled time. The combining of separate reservations will not be honored. We look forward to seeing you soon!

This was a very pleasant surprise!! Great food, great service, chill atmosphere. We had the Breakfast Bowl- fantastic flavors!!! The fried green tomatoes were excellent and the breakfast platter was great for something so basic (chorizo sausage was really tasty and not too spicy) Overall was thrilled to find this little gem on our first visit to Des Moines 😊👍🏼🩶

Horrible brunch to celebrate our son’s graduation from Drake today. Something happened in the kitchen and “all the orders are messed up”. No specifics but the staff was very inexperienced and we will never go back. Food was about an hour late and not good chicken (their specialty) was tasteless and waffles looked like frozen Aunt Jemima. Our server was mortified and we liked her so told her she needs to look for new job now. We rarely have bad experiences and just sad it was today. Not terribly picky family and our other so. Works in a restaurant so gives a lot of grace. Stay away from this place.

Had a reservation for 4 at 530 on a Saturday. First talked to waitress after 10 minutes, got first drink order in and one appetizer, app never came, never given water at our table after asking 3x, drinks took over 40 minutes to arrive. Put our order in at 5:50. Never got food and our table was informed at 6:35 our dinner wouldn’t come for another 30 minutes as there were 7 tickets in front of ours. Mind you, we put our appetizer and drink order in at 5:40, got drinks around 6:20, and restaurant was 3/4 full on a Saturday. No one apologized, no one came to explain the issue and why it was taking so long, and our waitress who was the least empathetic she could have been basically told us to leave if we wanted because we wouldn’t get our food for a while and nothing she could do about it. So we left. Terrible experience. Usually I would never complain and understand it is sometimes just out of the control of the staff, but the disregard for the issue and still seeing walk-ins continue to get sat making the delays more glaring just led us to believe there is no one in charge, no one cares, and a complete waste of time to make another attempt to eat there. Save the effort and just go literally anywhere else in Des Moines.

The service was sloooooowww. They were clearly understaffed. My waiter Josh did his best but the drinks were about 25 minutes each and the food over 30. Then the food was pretty mediocre at best and bland at worst.

I was unimpressed with the experience. It took 7 mins for the waitress to greet us and get our drink order. Our food took about 45 mins to get to the table. One of our friends’ fish entree was under cooked. I do not plan to come back.

This was my second time there. And we had extremely long wait times for food and drinks and the final check. Overall our dining experience took 2 full hours. It wasn't a bad experience just unexpected. For reference We had an early 5pm dinner reservation for 4 guests.

The fried chicken was very nondescript. It needed salt, wasn't freshly prepared. The sides weren't much better, grits needed additional cheese and the Mac and cheese wasn't hot enough and was very "set up" I would not go back. KGZc makes better fried chicken.

Great choice for our monthly dinner club. We had a party of 7 (6 adults and a 2 yo). Servers were friendly and attentive. Dinner choices ranged from salads to shrimp (spicy) and rice. Very good meals with plenty of food. We will definitely visit again.

Food and drinks were great. Server was great! Seemed under staffed though. Had a reservation but hostess didn’t seem to know where to seat us although there were at least 8-10 visible open and set tables. Didn’t get seated till 15 minutes after reserved time. But once we were sat everything was great.

We had a very nice visit on Mother’s Day. I had made an online reservation for 5 at 12:45. Due to illness, I called that morning to see if they could change our reservation to 2 people at 1:00. They were very friendly and accommodating to me. We walked right in at 12:55. Our wait staff took care of us quickly, my delicious mimosa arrived within minutes. Our food was very good and did not take long to arrive. I had the traditional chicken and waffles and my husband had the smothered chicken. They accommodated our requests easily. I would definitely go again and recommend this Tupelo Honey as a must visit in downtown Des Moines.
