Tupelo Honey is a revival of Southern Comfort Food and traditions rooted in the Carolina Mountains we call home.     This was our first time eating at Tupelo Honey in Chattanooga. We have eaten at Tupelo Honey in Asheville, NC twice before. We had a fabulous meal here tonight. My husband had blackened mahi mahi and I had blackened shrimp, rice and gumbo. Everything was made to perfection. The service, however, was spotty: my husband wasn’t asked if he wanted another beer (he did and had to ask for the server) and our check was brought to the table without our being asked if we wanted dessert and/or coffee (and we wanted both).

    Our server, Victoria, was enthusiastic and charming. We enjoyed the food so much. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Chattanooga.

    Our first visit was a little disappointing. We ordered the fried chicken and it was good, but our sides were just ok and not very hot. Red beans and rice were good but the gumbo was very bland.

    Giving a little bit of grace here considering it was Mother's Day, but we were seated at our table at the time of our reservation (7:15pm). It took about 10 minutes before we were finally greeted by our server. We ordered waters and tea only and he returned five minutes later with our drinks and then took our entree orders. The server forgot my son's lemonade and my Father's coffee. It took over an hour for our food to arrive. When it did come out, it was apparent that we were seated without giving us silverware, so it took them another five minutes to go find us 7 sets of silverware while our entrees were sitting on table. It was at this point that the server finally brought the coffee that my Father ordered over an hour before. First time I've ever eaten at this restaurant and wasn't impressed. Can give them somewhat of a pass for the slow food due to Mother's Day, but the other issues should be a given.

    Waffles were good. We did not care for the biscuits and they were removed from the ticket but we found the menu items in general to be overpriced for the quality and the quantity received.

    I was so excited to take my mom here for a Mother’s Day brunch. It started off great, helpful hosts, friendly bartender, fantastic waitress, cool setting. Perfect. Then we got our food. Halfway through my mom’s Cobb salad, we discovered hair in her food. I literally saw a strand of hair hanging from her mouth. She pulled it out and it was very long. She chewed a little more and proceeded to pull a second hair wrapped in lettuce and ranch, from her mouth. DISGUSTING! I literally drove 2 hours (from Atlanta) to Chattanooga to specifically take my mom (a Tennessee resident) there. I was so embarrassed and disappointed. What a way to ruin a Mother’s Day brunch. The manager offered to replace her meal with something else, that they then proceeded to charge us for. Really? How Tacky. To make up for it, he gave her a free dessert. What are we, 9? No thanks. We Won’t be returning to the open kitchen concept restaurant where they do not secure their hair. I only gave 3 stars for the service/staff. Otherwise I would’ve rated them lower for a horrible experience.
