Trust Bae is an intimate & timed Chefs Tasting counter experience featuring Chef Frances Tariga and her Filipino/Japanese inspired menu. The menu rotates seasonally, and varies from cooked small plates, to nigiri style sushi, and more. Our counter seats 8 at a time, and we do not currently offer any table service style menus. Come early & stay late to enjoy our craft cocktails, and thoughtfully curated wine and sake list.

Strictly comparing this to other popular omakase restaurants in the area (Shinn, Taikun, Thirteen Water, Matsunori, Omakase by Korami, Takumi): I really, REALLY looked forward to dining here from all the hype but left disappointed. For a pretty steep price point, you get a similar assortment of fish (salmon, hamachi, red snapper, sea bream, otoro, chutoro, and uni) but unfortunately, nothing unique and no particular dish stood out among the rest. I felt the fish portions were rather small and the rice was nothing reputable (not warm, didn’t have that “melt in your mouth” feel). Compared to other Omakase restaurants, which go for half the price, Trust Bar fails to let the fish shine. Instead, they try going the extra mile with additions of truffle creme (on several fish), foie gras, or smother in gold dust. It felt redundant and almost unnecessary. Of note, they offer two appetizers and a soup/palate cleanser, which were decent. No wagyu on the menu despite it being $185 pp without included tip/taxes. They also have a no cancellation/refund policy, which I think is rather strict. From what I hear, I believe that the cost is for the “service” and “entertainment” from the owner chef, who we did not have. So that may have partly been the reason for a less than average experience.. but ultimately, it should be the food to make the experience. Conclusion: for $185 pp omakase, you’re better off going to Thirteen Water (or equivalent) twice for the same quality and double amount of food. We actually went to Mari two days later (for $145 pp), which was a true Michelin star experience and much worth the price.

It was fine but not for the price. The waiters and bartender were great but honestly the main person presenting the dishes meant well but was not very polished.

AMAZING! Cant recommend this enough. Chef Francis is a vibe and gets all of us engaged with great stories and jokes. I’ve dined at many spots in NYC and this one will be unforgettable. On top of all that, the food was top tier. Come here for a great time with even better food!

How can I explain this horrible experience? First, don't waste your money in this place. Many better omasake choices in NYC than this new restaurant which put everything into its marketing and not into your experience. We were the only two clients in the restaurant for four employees. I let you imagine the ambiance. I forgot the presence of two friends of the kitchen staff who were impatiently waiting in the background for their friends to finish their shift. When we arrived, the majority of our 16 courses services were already prepared and lined up behind the bar. We had already been presented 3 courses before even receiving our cocktails (the cocktails being probably the only highlight of our night there). It feels like a farm where the animals are fed except that we paid more than $500 to be there. We were rushed like this until the very end. The services proceeded so quickly, despite that we mentionned that we wanted to take the time to enjoy the experience. The two kitchen staff lined up the 14th, 15th and 16th services in front of us to finally put on their coats and leave. We were quite surprised and bothered by this. While we were still eating the 15th course, the waiter asked us to pay our bill for the alcohol. The bill for our Omasake tasting menus was, according to restaurant policies, already paid at the time of booking. A bill which is also non-refundable and where they add a 20% tip automatically. Which is really disappointing considering the overall poor experience we had on this evening. Finally, we communicated our disappointment to the waiter, who simply replied that's how it is at Trust Bae, a 16 course omasake served in 1 hour for more than $500 and that we just had to do a review.. ishh !! Note that the wine and sake list is as poor as the experience in this restaurant, only 3 choices of sake, 2 choices of white and 1 red. Regarding the food, it is good, but nothing exceptional considering the price.

The food was decent. From my understand this was supposed to be Filipino fusion but I don’t see any dishes that had much Filipino influence on. Our chef was good however the entire experience felt a bit rushed and not timed correctly.

I wanted to love this. I was willing to spend almost $400 here. Yet I was sent home with a to-go bag of fish to “microwave” at home. Nothing screams fine dining less than microwave fish.

Trust Bae was highly recommended by a Filipino friend. She enjoyed all of the Filipino influence in the food. I didn’t taste any Filipino influence in anything I had. There was nothing unique about the omakase. The quality was inconsistent. The sushi rice was over seasoned and very wet. The shrimp was overcooked. The uni noodles were very good. The cocktails were excellent. I appreciated the extra takeaway meal, but since I was in a hotel, I had no where to store it or reheat it, so I wound up taking a bite of everything to taste it and then threw it out. Overpriced for the quality, but you won’t go away hungry.

Food is excellent both in taste and presentation. Staff is friendly and attentive. Experience was very conversational, Chef Frances is very funny and also very informative. Would definitely come back with friends and family. Worth hearing my parents complain they can make the same thing from going to ShopRite.

generally disappointed.food wasnt bad, but as an overall experience i'm confused. service was subpar- the pacing of the meal was not good, and at the end it felt like "okay show's over everyone gtfo". decor was really tacky and i cant tell if that was on purpose to be ironic, but the irony fell flat considering the meal was mid. Re: service- everyone felt very new and like they weren’t well trained.

We were very excited to go to Trust Bae given that a Filipino Omakase menu sounded like a wonderful idea to us. At $185/head it's not the most expensive tasting menu, but far from cheap either. I found the food to be good, but none of the courses really blew me away. Still, that would have been fine had it not been for the chef making the experience really uncomfortable for us. We were sad to hear that Chef Francis wasn't there and instead had someone named Deja. As an intimate omakase environment, the chef at Trust Bae is as much a performer as they are a chef, but her idea of hosting was bizarre at best. Apart from describing the dishes, everything out of her mouth was either some kind derogatory stereotype of about some group of people. ("She's white so she can't cook"' "All Filipino's are nurses" "Men are slobs" and more) or some uncomfortable presumption that she would make about the guests like presuming two women together were lesbians and on top of that asking "Who is the husband?"; or asking us about out babysitter when we never told her if we had children. It was really, really inappropriate and unprofessional on top of the fact that she was drinking the entire time we were there and bragged that she had four drinks before we even started our dinner at 6:30p. I've heard good things about Trust Bae but if there's any chance you might end up with the person as your chef, I would be remiss to reccomend going there until they find another chef to back up Francis.

A unique and incredible omakase experience. The chef that served us was extremely charismatic and talented. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Trust Bae - you can tell that each course was carefully crafted and prepared with love. Lastly, we were also given a to-go item at the end of dinner which was a thoughtful gift for those who still had space in their stomach (we definitely didn't)

Trust Bae was a welcoming and enjoyablw experience, from beginning to end. This was our second time coming - brought a notable chef friend with us to appreciate the artistry and flavors. Exciting presentation and appreciable whether you're familiar with Philippine cuisine or not. Highly recommend.

Such an amazing showcase of Filipino flavors. Amazing drinks, (we got the Queen Pia and Hot Number), great presentation (hello, gold dust!), and all of the 16 courses (the oxtail lumpia and the smoked Spanish mackerel were my favorites) were SO. GOOD. Treat yourself, this place is too good to miss!

An incredible and energizing meal. I have been fortunate to frequent many of the best restaurants in NYC, and this is one of the best meals I've ever had. It's a lively Filipino party with your favorite auntie, who is also an incredible chef. The vibe is warm and welcoming, plus the chef is hilarious. They were very kind and accommodating. 1 million stars.

Loved this omakase with a Filipino flair! Chef Frances was fun and inventive! So are her kaiseki and nigiri dishes! My favorite is the lotus root Otoro Tartare Taco! We’ll definitely come back!

Chef Frances was amazing.16 coarse Filipino/ Japanese Omikase. The experience was so friendly interactive/ food was sumptuous. The 90 minutes went so fast. We are going back in October.

My second time and it was just as great, if not better!! Chef Frances and the whole staff really takes care of you. The service and experience are top notch. I already have my third reservation made!

The food was so great and Chef Frances is very entertaining. This was such a great experience! We’ll be back next time when she changes her menu in few months.

Being a Filipino-American, it was so refreshing to see my culture’s food being taken to a completely elevated standard. I’m sure for those who don’t have a reference for Filipino food, it’s an expensive way to enjoy it, but a great way for those boujee people who want to try Filipino food for the first time. I highly recommend this experience
