I struggle with this review as I try to leave only positive feedback. The entire experience at Truluck's was very underwhelming. We had a reservation for 6:00 pm on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was approximately a third full, I think I counted between 8-10 tables, with roughly 4-5 servers working that night. The waiter was very attentive at first and really sold the lobster tail and stone crab claws. We had previously looked at the menu and had a good idea of what we were going to order, but the waiter's pitch compelled us to try both. We ordered our dinner along with an appetizer and then our waiter disappeared. Dinner was served and still no sign of our waiter. We eventually had to flag down another waiter to get more water and order a second drink. Our waiter did return after our request (presumably the other waiter went and found them) and got us a round of drinks. At this point most off our dinner was consumed. The lobster tail was okay at best. The waiter made claims it was the best lobster tail and most customers eat it without butter. I laughed because my wife usually never uses butter and enjoys the flavor of the lobster tail by itself. In this case she made an exception and used the lemon butter provided. The stone crab claws were okay as well, I've actually enjoyed cleaner pieces at other DC establishments. They're cracked in such a way as you have to pick through a lot of shell pieces to get to the meat instead of being split mid-way as to readily pull out the meat as is more common in other places. The value for our dinner just wasn't there. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity added on, which fundamentally I'm fine with as we don't pay servers and staff enough, but for such a high-end experience the service did not warrant the 18% in this case. For two drinks, one lobster tail and 4 claws plus a salmon dish and a zero proof drink the bill was about $350. Unfortunately I just can't recommend Truluck's based off this experience.

The food was Ok.. The salmon was not completely cooked and my husband asked for medium well and half part of his rib eye steak was completely red(raw), he did not eat it at all…my friends silverbass was not completely cooked as well. The crab cakes, cream spinach, crab fried rice and the parmesan potatoes were all delicious! Overall I will give it 3 stars! Enjoy your day!

This was my 3rd time there . I found it by chance for my birthday last year had a solo meal at the bar area and it was good. When my son visited I brought him for dinner and last night I brought my goddaughter for her birthday and hands down it gets better each time. Our waitress Jessica was such a delight and it was refreshing to have someone so polite, pleasant and joyful.

We waited for our friends in the bar before being seated. The bar service wasn’t great. A couple people acknowledged we were there but it was ten minutes before our drink order was taken. Our waiter was phenomenal though and truly made up for it. We had a great time. The food was amazing. Looking forward to a return visit.

We refused sitting until the whole party arrived and once sitted we waited for almost 2 hours until the food was on the table. It was great food, but not after such a long wait. No apologies was issues either.

Food is high quality, drinks are well made but service is extremely inconsistent. One waiter is amazing while the other won’t even bring your drinks. Too many employees walking around to have slow inconsistent service.
