Trattoria Toscana in Temecula, California serves up an authentic Italian experience. The chef selects local organic ingredients to create daily specials, as well as importing some items from Italy to ensure authenticity. The décor is charming with a full dining room, full bar, and outdoor garden patio with a wood oven for authentic Italian wood fired pizza. Trattoria Toscana serves lunch on Sat and Sun (opening soon during the week) and dinner (Wed-Mon), as well as hosting events and parties. We offer live music every Fri and Sat evening.

I misunderstood and made a reservation here instead of a different restaurant that my wife wanted for Mother’s Day. I tried to cancel within 30 minutes but was told I would be charged $100 ($25 per person x 4). The online cancelation policy showed up after I booked the appt, unless I just missed it prior. The staff over the phone would not budge in explaining that this is their policy and refused to cancel me without charging the $100. I therefore reluctantly went to avoid the $100 charge. I can understand if a guest booked two weeks before and then cancelled at the last minute - that cancellation just cost the business money. However, I booked the same day and tried to cancel 30 minutes later. I felt like my money was being legally stolen and nobody cared. The food was fine but I felt way over-valued for the almost $200 we spent with tip. We actually did not order much. The prices were just high. Note we also did not order any alcohol. From previous reviews I knew the portions sizes were going to be small, so I filled myself up with bread prior to eating. The portion sizes were actually very small, but I was satisfied due to the bread prior. The waitress was very nice but appeared over-worked that night on Mother’s Day, but that’s understandable. The ambience was nice and perhaps I rated them too low for this. We did actually enjoy the atmosphere on the outside patio, however, we unfortunately will not be returning here due to their cancellation policy, less than desirable phone interaction, and poor value for the food - in my opinion. It’s amazing what being kind and understanding over the phone can do if one wants repeat business, hence we have to decline returning here again. Sometimes people make mistakes. One should not hide behind “it’s our policy.” Most of us hate that response and feel like we are talking to a programmed message. Note, each person was very kind when we arrived and we were treated very respectively.

We went to our reservation and were sat promptly and were put outside by a large storage area of portable patio heaters and stacked unused chairs. The outside area could’ve been cleaned up a bit and the tables should’ve been set up and arranged accordingly. No table cloths just outdoor patio seating and metal tables. No music just the sounds of the cars passing by. The wait staff was good but could’ve been better. The food portions are very small. Appetizers portion is enough for 2 maybe 3 people. We ordered two appetizers and it wasn’t enough. The bread basket that’s provided upon sitting wasn’t enough pieces for the amount of people at the table. Entree portions were extremely small. The special that night was about half the size of my palm. The desserts were not good and the tiramisu tasted as the shot was just poured into it. So boozy that kids shouldn’t have been able to have it. Over all the taste of the food was Three stars but the price and ambience was 2 stars. For $400 the meal should’ve been better.

Our dining experience was disappointing. The food is on the pricey side, which is ok if the experience is good . The food came out cold and by the time the server came by to check on us , it was too late to send the food back . If you bring in your own wine the corkage fee is $25.00, again not an issue , but the server should be serving the wine , not us pouring it . We will return to the restaurant, but I hope for a better experience.

Great food, great service... but bad value and shockingly loud. Went for mother's day and the service was great. Food was great as well but the menu was extremely limited, almost like what you'd expect for a prix fixe menu... not sure if prices were marked up to take advantage of the holiday or if they're just excessively expensive in general but, to give an example, a bowl of butternut squash and bean soup was $19. All in, dinner for three; a burrata appetizer, two side salads, bowl of soup and 3 entrees, and a dessert with tip was $300... for the area, the setting, and the overall experience, grossly overpriced... the music, charming Italian classics, was loud enough to make it hard to hear the server or talk across the table... but all in all, good food and good service with friendly staff. Likely won't be back as it's just not a good value and not good enough to justify being a bad value but solid spot.

It was a very busy Mother's Day weekend and you can see the entire staff hustling and bustling to get all the guests seated as promptly as possible. Food was great!

We were eagerly anticipating TT’s Italian Happy Hour Buffet all week. However, my husband and I were very disappointed with the event. Here's a recap of our experience: The salad greens seemed to be poured from a bag and lacked accompanying vegetables or toppings. Just a bottle of dressing. Olives, tomatoes, onions, croutons, anything extra would have been nice. Only one pasta option (vodka sauce pasta) was available, despite visible space for more choices in the heating pan. Pasta is inexpensive, why not two other choices? We expected more substantial main course options besides the one sandwich, which was only replenished after we inquired about the lack of food. The presence of cut-up potatoes at an Italian buffet seemed out of place. Additionally, we were surprised by a $25 charge to open our wine bottle, which we poured ourselves. Really $25. The total bill of $90 left us feeling terribly unsatisfied and as if we were not provided with adequate value. We were still hungry.

This Happy Hour Buffet was created to be a 2-hour buffet of house made happy hour snack options that are made fresh, plus a glass of Italian wine that was included in the $25 pricing. The Happy Hour consisted of salad, soup, two sandwich options, a risotto, the Italian potatoes, plus pesto pink sauce fusilli. Items are replenished as they are eaten, as Trattoria Toscana strives to create as little waste as possible. We intentionally called it a Happy Hour Buffet so that our customers did not come in thinking this was a dinner buffet, which would have higher pricing and different options. Trattoria Toscana felt that a glass of wine plus food was a good value at $25. The $25 corkage fee applies to all wine that is brought in by the customer, unless it is from one of our partner wineries.

The bread is so silky and the crust is crunchy. It is made daily on-site. Every dish is tasty-wonderful. So good that you need extra bread to enjoy the different sauces! We have to go back for the nightlife!

Our favorite Italian restaurant in the area has been Anthony’s, in Murrieta, for years! So when I saw reviews that Trattoria Toscana was better. I had to see for myself, because I didn’t believe it. It was DELICIOUS! PROS: Temecula-local, realistic reservations (don’t have to book weeks in advance), the food!!! CONS: While my dinner (rack of lamb with 4 cheese pasta), and my son’s dinner (lasagna), were amazing, my wife and mother in law didn’t have the same experience. What they do well, they REALLY do well…some items still need work. Ambiance was nice, but still felt a little cramped. Dessert menu…if you like cannoli’s, you’re set…they were out of panna cotta, and their remaining desserts were underwhelming in a part of town where there’s a lot of tasty dessert options. In summary, it may sound like I don’t like this place, but don’t misunderstand. I LOVED IT…is it perfect? No. Can they improve? Yes. But my experience was wonderful, and I can’t wait to return.
