Trattoria Demi has been a local favorite for over two decades. Eating here is like going to a small Trattoria in Sicily. Order the Italian classic Linguine Marinara with Meatballs, and you will find this to be true. The sauce is home made daily and the meatballs have a loyal following! Every dish is made fresh to order so special dietary requests are easily accommodated. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.

The veal was poor quality- but worse, it was over-cooked. In Chicago (or it’s suburbs, like Evanston), once you touch your food, you must pay for it. My guess is that this was a one-off incident. As I have had several excellent meals here at Trattoria Demi, I will dine there again- just not ordering the veal.

It's near Northwestern University and a student hang-out. Food great but too loud for us old folks.

Trattoria Demi has fresh food and great service. They are also a good value. My friend and I shared a bottle of Rose, a Caesar salad and the Ziti Primavera and each paid less than $30 (Mondays are half off wine ). I have also had their pizza and their Farfalle with chicken in the past. I really like the feel of the place, it is easy to hold a conversation and the setting is a softer lighting and muted colors. The staff are very responsive and the bread is also fresh and delicious. Good place to eat and talk, nice spot for date night or family dinner.

Delicious homemade Italian food. Great selection of wines at very reasonable prices for a bottle not true for a glass, too small of a pour in very small glasses.

This is one of our favorite spots to have lunch. They have a wonderful lunch menu, which is a great value. The food is great and reasonably priced. The place itself reminds me of a European cafe.

Welcoming authentic atmosphere with attentive service. Terrific menu with multiple choices in all categories from Appetizers to Pasta dishes, Main dinners to Pizza, all offering homemade quality. They have a respectful Wine and Beer selection to accompany your meal as well. It's a no rush personal environment that allows you to appreciate your meal selection, and leave satisfied and planning your next visit.

Wonderful neighborhood vibe at this unpretentious restaurant in downtown Evanston. All of our dishes were excellent - pasta, chicken parmigiana. , meatballs, and appetizers. Portion sizes were more than enough and the prices were quite low. The bottle of wine was similarly affordable and solid. A friendly red from Montalcino that was under $30. Somehow these folks have figured out how to keep family dining alive. We will back!!

Dinner menu is very extensive, so everyone should have no problem finding something they like. Entrees arrived a little too soon before we finished our salad and appetizer, so recommend you ask them to hold off a little. Meatballs are great, caesar salad just okay, shrimp scampi and veal scallopini were very good. Had a nice bottle of wine. Lunch menu looks very good too. Prices are so reasonable.

The staff were kind and it was cozy inside. The food was really lacking, though. I had the rigatoni with ricotta- the sauce was so bland it was like eating nothing. There are a lot of ways to make marinara really special, but it was flavorless. The food also came out near instantly. Immediately after ordering, I went to use the restroom. Upon my return my salad was waiting, and before I was even able to take a bite, our main courses were brought to our table. I felt that Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day with that.

Very good food! Paste was done perfectly. Since it is a small restaurant, make sure to reserve a table or you may get shut out. We were there during Thanksgiving week and service was very good, considering the waitress was all by herself.

This was our first time to Trattoria Demi. Although smaller than we anticipated, the food was excellent. The lamb shank was amazing and huge. Portion size and quality were very fair for the price.
