Food and service was excellent! All 4 meals were wonderful. This was our 2nd time bringing new people. Ceilings are high and don’t absorb the noise.

Incredible food and service. Cannot hype it enough. It can be fairly loud inside if it’s crowded. Sitting on the patio was perfect! I’ve been twice in two months. I’ve loved everything me and my companions have ordered and would order it all again! We live in the neighborhood and will be back soon (and again and again). This is the sort of spot I’ve been waiting for in Kensington!

My experience at Trattoria Da Sofia was great! They're new to my neighborhood and I've been very interested in trying them out, so when I saw that they were offering a Mother's Day pre fix menu I knew this would be a great opportunity to try a lot of what they offer on their menu. I had the calamari, ravioli de pesce, and chocolate cake. Everything was served at a timely manner and the food was fresh and delicious. I'm looking forward to my next visit since I am walking distance from the restaurant.

Wow! Amazing experience! My husband and I took my mother in law to celebrate Mother’s Day! What an amazing experience! The crispy burrata and short rib was our most favorite! All our dishes came out so tasty! They were super accommodating with our mocktail order! Service is top notch! Every course came on time and we were just pleased with the whole experience! She also loved the complimentary glass of bubbles for Mother’s Day, so thoughtful ! Will definitely be back again!

I went to TDSofia on opening night about 8 weeks ago. I was impressed with this 'neighborhood' Italian bistro. 8 weeks later they have continued to be a great place to take friends and have an enjoyable evening. The food is good 'family' cooking. The service great and the ambiance is relaxing. This will become my local go to place to eat. The food. Huge portions, good prices, Italian flavors like grandma makes. Focaccia is my fav. Burrata is fresh. Pasta delish. House wines are great choices. Enjoy

I wanted to like it cuz it’s local. The decor is Incohesive with a part modern look and then marble pillars and fake plants everywhere, looks awful. The food is priced for quality and flavor but does not deliver. The server brought us pasta and never offered parm and pepper! Garlic bread was good not much else! Other reviews did not exxagerate, the acoustics are so bad I could not hear the conversation at my own table. The prior restaurant was only ok but this place is a no no sorry :(

Servers were very charming and enthusiastic and are an asset to the restaurant (though we did have to flag them down after our meals arrived for some parmesan). We started with a salad and involtini, both of which were not remarkable but ok. Two in our party had fish (salmon and sea bass special) Sea bass was thought to be good; salmon not so much. It was the two pasta dishes, however, that we really found lacking. I ordered the rigatoni in vodka sauce and added meatballs. The meatballs were good but the pasta itself looked like it had been sitting around under a heat lamp for some time. All dried and congealed on top. The pasta had become overcooked while sitting around. The sauce was a little too sweet. The other pasta was the carbonara. It seemed more like pasta in cream. Little guanciale, no egg and little cheese. Same pasta problems. The noise level got pretty high at some points but not sure a restaurant can do too much about that. Really wanted to like the restaurant but can't say I'll be back.

They need to tone down their music and also play Italian not dance mix. The food was very good. Next time we will sit outside.

Our first-time dining here and we loved it. The service was excellent, impeccable, and spot on. Both our meals were delicious with good sized portions. I highly recommend this restaurant. Will certainly be back with friends.

Lovely experience for four of us. Francesco was our server and he went out of his way to accomodate us. Cesare salad, Lasagne Special, Bolognesa and Chocolate Cake. Nero d’Avola-Stemmari and White Blend-Conundrum. Cheers! Great to have you in the neighborhood.

The food was very good, and all three of us enjoyed our entrees. But the noise level was awful. There is nothing to absorb sound, and the background music (vocals?? Seriously) was far too loud. We all had to speak very loudly to understand each other. Our waiter was attentive, and though we said we wanted to enjoy our cocktails, the food came too quickly. Later, I wanted to order a glass of wine, and despite three waiters in the dining room, I had to raise my hand to get someone's attention. This may be the growing pains of a new establishment, but the ambiance and noise level mean we're not likely to return. Sitting in the outdoor patio might have been a better choice.

We had an early reservation and wanted to like the restaurant because we loved Cucina Sorella. We were seated and seemed like the wait staff did not communicate with the kitchen staff...we were not given the complimentary bread and marina and when we asked our waiter he was so clueless that he said he would bring us more, where we stated - no, not more, we would like bread we did not receive any. When our appetizer arrived the kitchen staff attempted to take our menus when we hadn't ordered our main meal and was surprised when let him know that. The food and drinks were okay, there was nothing that stood out. It is billed as a family restaurant so it does get very loud and the tables are tight as it gets busier around dinner time.

We were excited to try a new local establishment. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. Minestrone soup was mushy and bland, service was poor, and ambiance felt more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Hopefully it's just growing pains and, with time, they will be able to up their game. We would love to support a great new restaurant here in Kensington!

What a gem! This place has the best Italian food in town. The Risotto ai Funghi was creamy, rich, and just explodes with flavor. I also loved their Tiramisu—it was the perfect end to our meal. Can’t wait to come back!

Just had dinner at Trattoria da Sofia and it was fantastic! The food was flavorful, fresh, and authentically Italian. I can't recommend the "Filetto ai funghi" enough, it was perfectly cooked. This is definitely one of the best Italian spots in town!"

This restaurant is a real treat! The Margherita flatbread had a perfectly crispy crust and fresh toppings. Great for a casual dinner with friends. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely be returning!

Dinner at Trattoria da Sofia was a delightful experience! The atmosphere is cozy, making it a perfect spot for a date night. We tried the Pollo alla Parmigiana and it was heavenly. The chicken was tender and the sauce was just the right mix of tangy and sweet. Highly recommend!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Trattoria da Sofia and it was an unforgettable evening. The ambiance was romantic, the food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. We loved the Caprese di Bufala and the Gnocchi al Pesto. Highly recommended!

Great addition to Kensington! Sofia’s cocktails were excellent, the Limoncello spritzer was great & packed a punch. The Carbonara was delicious and Butternut squash Risotto sublime. We will be back!

A new Italian restaurant in Kensington. Great menu, reasonably priced with some offerings that you don’t see at other places. Pasta was good, seemed fresh. Full bar and wine by the glass or bottle. Great, friendly wait staff - many appear to be Italian. The interior has undergone an extensive renovation with outdoor seating available, little too chilly last night. Looking foward to our next visit

The “background” music was too loud for guests to hear each talk across the table. We did ask for the music volume to be lowered but never noticed if that was gone. We did need to ask for items more than once. We all enjoyed the food and felt the quantity was good.

This was our 2nd time going to Sofia for dinner. I had requested a table outside if heaters were working since we had invited my parents and I knew it would be hard for them to hear at the inside table due to noise level. The food at Sofia is very good! The servers and bartender are excellent! The decor is tacky and does not go with the quality of food and beverages. Fake flowers are really not a good look but that’s just my opinion. You have to do what’s right for you and your budget. 😉

A welcome addition to the neighborhood! Service was outstanding (plentifull and very attending) and food was very good. The Involtini di melanzane was delicious as was the Barbabietola "beet" salad. Sugo Pittinicchi was a very good entree as well. Very simiiar to my Sicilian grandmothers...the sausage and pork rib were buttery soft from marinating for hours in the sauce. Only the arancine were a bit disappointing...flavor was great, but the breadcrumb exterior was soggy versus dry and crunchy like in Sicily. Restaurant was noisy and crowded which added a fun energy to the room. We will definitely be back...
