Welcome to Tortuga's Saltwater Grill! We are a unique restaurant in the heart of Port Aransas' Old Town Historic District, offering a twist on some regional and exotic dishes, as well as some classic favorites. We have become well-known for our charbroiled steaks, oysters and Shrimp and Grits! With a lighter lunch menu and more extensive dinner menu, we have many offerings for the whole family. Grab a meal or choose a craft cocktail or glass of wine from our extensive wine list and enjoy a break from the sun on our large covered porch.

Seven “older” ladies enjoyed a lovely lunch together. The entire table ordered the shrimp and grits with four ladies sharing and it was delicious !! We ordered Boudin balls, crab cake and truffle fries for appetizers. Crab cake was fantastic and the Boudin balls were good. Truffle fries were tasty but would have been better if fries were hand cut. Wednesday is half-off bottles of wine and we enjoyed some nice Chardonnay with our meal.

The crab crusted snapper with a sauce on top, with risotto and grilled asparagus was outstanding and enough for 3 people!! The lobster bisque my husband ordered was delicious and had a HUGE piece of lobster in it. My expresso martini was one of the best I’ve had. Our service was top notch. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a semi fine dining experience.

We love T’a as a go-to reliably yummy place. While half of the meal was terrific (flounder special) there was several instances of “too “. Indoors was too loud. Time to hire an architect that can install a few noise dampening solutions. The Caesar salad was too dressed. Next time I’ll order the dressing on the side. The dessert was too sweet. Cheesecake. It made my mouth pucker. Go for letting the flavors delight and pull back on sugar. Please don’t post this…just pass it on to see if chef is interested. We will be back…and I’ll order my salad dry. Wink wink

ALWAYS love the food and the service is so friendly. Seared tuna and sides were great. Crab cakes and shrimp cocktail made a deliciously full meal. We will be back!

Nice place with well-prepared seafood and good ambience. Waitress was attentive until we got our food and then sort of disappeared. We had to chase her down to ask what desserts were available and for our check. Would give it a return visit next time we are in the area.

Snapper pontchartrain is amazing and melts in your mouth. Steak churrasco also very good. Boursin balls are perfect as a starter and one order easily served 6 of us. However, service was less than ideal. It appeared the restaurant was trying to get by with too few servers and she was nice but spread way too thin.

Bartender was excellent, attentive and personable. Wedge was a bit weak for the price. Both fish dishes were excellent, sides were very good, asparagus was grilled to perfection. Not bad at all for a tourist town. We recommend, and we will return again.

Our waitress was lovely. The food was delicious. I had the scallops, my daughter had the shrimp and grits and the hubs had the Pasta Acadiana. Everything was delicious and we took home leftovers. Also, the lava cake is legit.

Tortugas has been a mainstay of Port A cuisine for years. However, they have a new menu, with many of their old favorites missing. And this new menu comes with a steep increase in prices! We paid $30 for a salad, and $25 for a sandwich. In addition, the service was almost unbearably slow (we waited 50 minutes for our food). We had been regular customers, but with this change, we will find somewhere else to go.

Tortuga's is one of the few restaurants in Port Aransas that takes reservations. This was beneficial to us as we were traveling with an adult with dementia who had a hard time waiting and adjusting to a new environment. I had to call the restaurant to let them know we were running 5 minutes late and the hostess was friendly and accommodating. Our waitress was top-notch and had a great personality. The food was really good and the manager checked in on us to make sure everything was okay. We went for brunch and I would highly recommend Tortugas.

Still our fave in Port A. Always a great selection and Laura our server was a delight. The scallops and the sea bass last night were perfect, and love the half price wine bottle night.

The crabcakes were so good and the lobster bisque is amazing! My steak filet was cooked perfectly and tasted so good. The wait staff is always so nice and attentive. Great place for dinner (and lunch!) - it's hard to find restaurants that take reservations in Port Aransas. I recommend Tortuga's to all my friends who come here. :)

Unfortunately, the chef had difficulty in preparing the correct temperature for the beef filet. After three tries, he finally got it right. The shrimp cocktail was not presented in the traditional large cocktail glass with cocktail sauce and shrimp instead you are presented with an extra large ice filled platter with a small plastic cup of cocktail sauce and the shrimp spaced 4 inches or so apart. It was very obvious that the shrimp was frozen then thawed and put on ice most likely the night before resulting in a mix of textures from semi firm to soft. Absolutely devoid of taste. The waiter was very apologetic and summend the manager who made it right. The crab cake was above average ( mostly claw meat) not classic Maryland Chesapeake Bay back fin lump meat. Did enjoy the correct colored key lime pie. Should have a yellow tint and taste tangy or hint of sour note. Oddly for an elevated restaurant there is an 2.5% service charge if you pay with an card instead of cash. I'll leave it up to you think about that. Let me add its usual to add one the back end a fee for the most popular for of payment verses the less popular cash payment. Although there are service charges the more transactions the lower the fee is however it is traditional that your end product has the service fee refected in the end user cost instead of an precieved penalty to use the most popular form of payment.
