We visited for Mother's Day, and to our surprise, it was not very busy. The facility was nice, with adequate seating. The service was just okay. Our waitress offered more advice about drinks than she did about the food, and once we were served, we understood why. The chicken and waffles dish was unseasoned and flavorless, with the exception of the amount of cayenne pepper for spice. The shrimp and grits were also underwhelming. The wait staff never came by to check on our table, as one would be accustomed to. We were not offered drink refills at all, but our glasses were removed from the table as soon as we finished our drinks. There was also a guy walking around the restaurant in an unwelcoming manner. We do not know if he was the owner or floor manager, but his vibe was all wrong. We did not enjoy our visit, and I would not recommend Tokyo Cowboy to a friend.

A great restaurant to get dinner, since you enter the attention is great until you leave. The food is perfect, my favorites plates was the vegetable salada, the grilled salmon and the tamarindo chicken. A really recommended restaurant.

Very happy we decided to try this restaurant. I’m particular about my margaritas & their Yuzurita is one of the best I’ve had! Everything we ordered was delicious - Brisket Egg Roll, Dashi Corn Waffle, BBQ Prawns, Green Beans, Tamarind Chicken & Green Chile Pork Belly. We tried the 2 dessert options which were a yuzu meringue pie & an ube tres leches. Both were very good, but the ube tres leches was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had - not too sweet & a nice texture. Our server was friendly & professional. Will definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

I know the AC being out was not in the control of staff, and we felt bad that they had to work in the heat, but some warning would have been nice. Why didn’t anyone let us know so we could decide for ourselves? O was told it was broken for two weeks. It was so hot we needed to take our food to go and eat in our hotel room. It was an ok meal. The rice was definitely undercooked- having a hard bite And the sauce on the chicken was way too sweet. The fried chicken needed seasoning. Liked the n/a Japanese ale was really good. The hand rolls were decent, but expensive.

Made the reservation online. They asked if it was for a special occasion. I said me and my wife’s 6 year anniversary. Not sure why they asked. Nothing special was done. We wanted dumplings to start with they were out of them. We asked for soy sauce they were out. But the food we had was good.

We we seated very quickly, and the servers were very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was fun but the AC was broken and the food was super small portions (even for tapas) and spicy. I’d recommend it for cocktails.

Really delicious blend of Japanese and Texan flavors. The yuzu margaritas were outstanding! All the food we had was truely above and beyond. Tim was an excellent waiter as well. The yuzu meringue for dessert was great too, although I think it would be a tad better with a little more tartness.

Terrible service. Saturday night and staff were on their phones, my waitress tried to argue with me telling me they don’t let people taste wines that are served by the glass. She finally agreed and was so annoyed with me. She then proceeded to tell me she’d come back later when the other person in my party arrived even though I was ready to order appetizers. I had to find another waiter to go get her and instead my waitress sent the bartender to help me. They were sold out of a few items which is totally fine. I had no problem with that and the manager did manage to find one dumpling that was sold out that we could taste, at no charge which was very nice. The manager had her nose stuck in the food window and was not paying any attention to staff. Our dirty dishes sat in front of us for probably 10 minutes with the staff, constantly moving back-and-forth behind us and not paying any attention to clear our table as we waited for our next course. This establishment is on the Riverwalk downtown and I don’t know if they thought we were tourists and it didn’t matter what kind of service they gave us because maybe they thought we’d never come back? Unacceptable. I really have not experienced this poor of service ever. Our dirty dishes sat in front of us for probably 10 minutes with the staff, constantly moving back-and-forth behind us and not paying any attention to clear our table as we waited for our next course. Restaurant was fairly full and the staff would regularly just stand in the bar area doing nothing. Really weird night.

The krab roll was the best thing I tried. The waffle was overcooked, the pork belly didn’t melt in your mouth, not a fan of the brisket egg roll, and the tamarind chicken was very dry, not enough tamarind sauce. Place is beautiful with great ambiance and although our waiter took a bit to start our order in the beginning , the food came out quickly after that.

The cocktails were very tasty and the sake was a great addition to the meal. The corn waffle was very interesting. We also ordered the pickled veggies which were very refreshing. The only issue was that the handrolls were hard to share (which is to be expected- they’re handrolls) so that’s not really a problem. We sat outside on the balcony which made for some fun people watching.

Nice- and cutesy. Food was good and drinks were as well. I gave 4 stars bcuz we had reservations and 2 in our party were late and they wouldn’t seat us- the hostess didn’t even mention they had a bar- where we could have a drink. You can’t see the bar from the front. I understand the policy about your whole party- but clearly we were going to stay and order- we could’ve ordered a small plate and drink- while we waited. Once seated -I had to suggest that the waiter tell us about the menu and drinks. I think maybe a little more ‘warm ness’ from the staff?? They def came around and were eager but I felt like we had to do the suggesting. The food was quick and hot. Delicious. We got the egg rolls and dumplings as our starter. Pork chop and chicken as our plates. Waiter suggested the best sake I have had- so delicious. And he also suggested a great cocktail. His recommendations were right on. Downstairs they also have a tiki type bar - by the same owners. It looked super fun for another time. Tokyo cowboy was very easy to find, the chairs and table were comfy, music was playing but wasn’t loud. Very nice atmosphere.

The food was fantastic. We tried a variety of small bites, and shared entrees, and they were all delicious. It was a bit noisy indoors for romantic anniversary date, so we sat outside on the patio overlooking the river, which was very nice. Feel like our server kind of forgot us a few times though being outside. She was very friendly though. One of our entrées was never put in so we ended up just having it taken off at the end. we had made a reservation commenting that it was our 30th anniversary. I wasn’t expecting a free dessert or anything, but I thought they might wish us a happy anniversary. Nothing was said. Just would’ve been a nice touch. Still a great restaurant, and it’s a relatively new business so I think they’re working out the kinks in service. We will definitely be back.

Our food and service were outstanding! Seating was at a counter very near to the kitchen because the restaurant was heavily booked. No problem with comfort of seating except for heat because of proximity to kitchen. We loved Tokyo Cowboy!

Service and ambiance were on point. The food was less than filling and the Salmon handheld “taco” lacked flavor. I’m not super motivated to go back based on this experience.

First time for the entire group and our server was not only rude, but not the slightest bit helpful in navigating the menu. His tone was condescending and combative from the beginning and it felt like he didn’t want to understand when requests were made like substitutions. He literally told the table that they did not have low ball glasses, as we were staring at a table that had them directly in front of us. I personally asked for sake and a beer, then another cocktail (as I was going to share the sake/beer with the table), but decided against the extra cocktail when the server gasped and stated something to the effect of “you are going to drink a beer, sake, and (the name of the signature cocktail).” The food was good, but nothing to write home about. It might have just been the service that set the mood for the rest of the evening though. Ehh

All the food was delicious. We ordered the hot chicken dumplings, crab & hamachi hand rolls, corn waffle, & tamarind crispy chicken. We had a great time!

Tokyo Cowboy was a great place to have Sunday brunch. I really like the very comfortable seating. I wasn't sure I would like the oriental flavorings but WOW it was good !

Waitress was awesome and really explained menu and lunch options since it was new. Only complaint is the rice was all overcooked(dry) but the sauce from the Cajun shrimp added nice flavor. Will definitely be back and also enjoyed the Tiki bar

I enjoyed my experience here. Very nice environment, with delicious choice of dishes I would recommend it for a date night or anniversary.

Food was absolutely amazing and outstanding, Michelle, our server explained everything in perfection 🤍 which help us understand better what to order, worth every single penny in there 🤍 would definitely be back for more

We will be back! I wish they had champagne glasses. I dislike bruit in a wine glass. My opinion only. Service could be a bit better because the place is not that large. Overall, we enjoyed everything and definitely will be back!
