Toku Unagi and Sushi opened its door in the fall of 2019 on La Cienega Blvd in an area renowned as one of the most luxurious dining areas in Southern California. Our specialty, the Unagi, are Premium Unagi directly imported from Japan every week. Continuing the legacy of our founder, with the same cooking method and the Toku's special sauce created over a century ago, you can now experience a truly authentic Japanese Unagi dishes one could not find here in the states before. Along with our Unagi, we also serve authentic sushi made by our very own Chef with decades of experience. His creations also includes sushi rolls unique to our restaurant. We also serve tapas style Toku original small dishes, unlike anything you'll find at other Japanese restaurants, as well as everyone's favorite and always popular Japanese Agemono (fried dishes).

Authentic Hitsumabushi, the same taste that I had in Japan. All the dishes were great! An excellent restaurant! Free Parking is a plus. I will revisit this place!

The food was fresh, great tasting authentic Japanese food prepared by Japanese chefs. The place gets busy so need some patience but will be worth the wait. I would definitely go again and wish the restaurant was closer to my home so I could go there more often. The restaurant is a place where I would bring guests and friends from out of town for authentic Japanese cuisine. Reservations are recommended. The location has a nice view of the city lights at night.

Unagi was outstanding. However, that's a given, since it's Toku Unagi. The shrimp tempura was disappointing. The shrimp and fish was tasteless, probably due to being frozen prior to cooking. The tempura itself was a little greasy. It's not up to the standard of an upscale Japanese restaurant.

Oh wow. This place knocked it out of the park! I'm not a local but have been to LA tons of times. I always like to hit up a Japanese restaurant when in town. Stumbled upon this gem just looking on maps and so glad we went here. It's located on the upper floor of a small business complex and it's very un-noticable. The chefs all great you with a warm welcome. The service was great and the food was incredible. We had some really unique, authentic, and wonderful dishes and will absolutely return. While I'm not normally a fan of Unagi, I had to try it, as it IS their specialty. 10/10 would devour again.

I tried the unagi at Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa in Nagoya, Japan in Mar 2023 and really wanted to try the unagi without sauce, the "crispy" type, again. I tried to look for a restaurant specialized in unagi and didn't expect to be able to find one in LA. I am really glad I did and foods at Toku Unagi & Sushi are great! We ordered the Matsu Ohitsu, Shio-Yaki Ta-Ke, Umaki, Kimo Kushi, and Matcha Creme Brulee, everything was great!

Japanese Unagi is my favorite food but it was impossible to have authentic Japanese Unagi in Los Angeles until I found this restaurant. I ordered hitsumabushi Ungagi and ohhh, it brought me to tears in appreciation! It transported me to Japan and felt as if I was in Japan having Unagi!! The service was also excellent. I appreciated everything about this restaurant. Thanks for bringing wonderful Unagi to Southern California for those who love Japanese Unagi!!

For an authentic experience with unagi in LA, this is the place. Pricey for sure but if you’re not going to Japan anytime soon, this is a great alternative. All the other sides I ordered was great as well. If I’m lazy, I will order takeout but definitely worth the drive to this otherwise busy area in LA.

The restaurant was nicely lit, quiet so you can enjoy the food and the conversation at your table, and the food was wonderful! Everything was delicious and the service was great too! We had Hitsumabushi, uni chawanmushi, sashimi, ohitashi, kani cream croquette, and some sake from Hyogo prefecture. 10/10 would come back again, thank you so much!

Last night was our first experience at Toku and we were impressed. Disclaimer: we travel to Japan for our vacations often and are very familiar with just about all aspects of Japanese food. The vibe when you first walk in is of a nice restaurant in Japan. It is clean and modern, and the requisite jazz music is playing in the background. The seats, table settings, and furnishings are elegant, and a nice added touch were privacy screens set up between some of the tables. All 3 of us in our party ordered the 7-course omakase, and we only ordered one thing, the kinpira renkon, separately. It had nice heat and a good blend of soy sauce and sesame oil. As for the omakase, it was definitely an experience, which made me regret ordering that kinpira renkon as the courses kept coming. (From a quantity standpoint, not quality). Being known for their unajyu, it goes without saying that everyone that comes here should probably try Nagoya-style hitsumabushi (look this up, as there is a specific way to eat the eel) at least once. The 7 courses were: 1. 2 pieces of eel served namasu-style with ikura 2. sashimi (4 pieces including toro, plus a scallop topped with uni) 3. traditional chawanmushi with kamaboko, mushroom, and shiso 4. grilled unajyu served with yuzu pepper, sale, and wasabi 5. tempura (2 shrimp, shishito, and fish) 6. the hitsumabushi eel served with hijiki, pickles, dashi broth, and a pot of tea to pour over the eel and rice. Last course was a frozen mochi cut up with berries. The meal was sublime and the menu could've come from a high-end ryokan. I can't believe we found this in Weho. I can honestly say I can't wait to go back.

Suck a great experience! It was my first time here. And it was amassing. The food was so good. The service was prompt and quick. And I was satisfied. Full and very happy. My components to the chef. And the team at Toku it was everything I hoped and more. Highly recommend!

Very friendly people and very delicious food! It was for a birthday celebrating and the manager there help us set up the cake and even sang a birthday song for us. It was a very wonderful dinner experience and we would definitely visit again!

Authentic Japanese food. Very fresh sashimi and we all loved it. Tampura was nicely deep fried and not oily at all. My favorite was the Ankimo (steamed monkfish liver). The taste was intense and it went so well with the ponzu jelly! Tatsuta-Age was tender and well seasoned. Their signature Shio-yaki Matsu (Japanese Unagi) was great as well. Meat were juicy with a touch of sea salt that u can taste the original taste of the fish. The Terriyaki chicken and beef however were too salty as there was a pool of terriyaki sauces. Definitely could tone down the sauces’ favor. Very good service and nice collection of sake as well. A good choice when you don’t wanna have American style rolls.

ひつまぶしが好きで、友人と2回ほど来店。今回は予定外の収入がありお世話になっている友人をディナーに招待。おまかせコースが普段の予算より少し高かったけれど、全てのお料理が新鮮でとても美味しくて、7品目もありお腹いっぱいでした。とてもリーズナブルでしたが、特別な時用にまた食べに行きたいです。
