Tick Tock Diner, an iconic symbol of the American diner with locations in both Midtown Manhattan and Clifton, New Jersey, has mastered the art of casual dining, providing customers with high quality ingredients, generous portions at a reasonable price and a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere that keeps them coming back year after year.
The 280 seat Midtown Manhattan location opened in 1997 at 481 8th Avenue (corner of 34th Street), across the street from Penn Station. Tick Tock Diner has long been known for its American comfort food. Today, it remains true to tradition while offering more dining choices than ever before on its extensive menu, accented with Italian, Greek and Tex-Mex influences. Keeping in the diner tradition, breakfast is served all day, featuring more than a dozen omelets, farm fresh eggs any style, pancakes, Belgian waffles and French toast.

Tick Tock Diner is located 1 block from PennStation. Quick to get to. 11am Brunch menu was varied and service was fast. Plenty of time to walk/stroll to Times Square for a 2pm show. We returned for coffee and dessert before the 8pm train. Staff/Manager excellent people.

This is a classic diner. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a grilled cheese cooked to perfection. Coffee is in metal cups. And the service staff is experienced, busy, and attentive.

Our server was overwhelmed with the amount of tables she had in her section. She had a hard time keeping up with drink orders and getting with each table in a timely fashion. I don’t feel that her level of service was her fault just another example of staffing issues. Food was good, location was good too.

i have been to this diner several times i just love their california wraps or sandwiches good food it gets crowded but its touristy

Our server was pleasant and easy going. She came back several times to check on us to see if we needed anything. My son and I had the Mozz sticks and we each had the Philly cheese steak sandwich that came with delicious fries. Our food was great and the portions were very generous. It was the perfect meal before we headed out to watch the NY Rangers beat the Florida Panthers. This is a must place toeat before any MGS event.

Pretty awesome! VERY friendly, accommodating service, Food outstanding, location optimal. Coffee is GREAT. The city ambience can't be beat. Will be my go-to in this neck of the woods forevermore.

Classic nyc diner. Good food, they let us talk and catch up wit our friends. Service was good would recommend.

Delicious food. Don’t bother making a reservation. They don’t honor reservations, it’s first come, first served even with reservations.

We had a BLAST! Our server was the best person we met on our trip to NYC! Funny and Kind! Our kids kept asking for us to go back!

A bit tired. No need to make a reservation. It was very quiet. Food was served quickly and was good but the staff seemed disinterested.

We’ve been twice on our last two visits to NYC. Both times we were lucky enough to have Mike as our server. Such a sweet and funny guy. The menu goes way beyond the standard fare. Definitely one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever enjoyed.

Hard to find a real diner in Manhattan. Typical diner menu and food is very good at reasonable prices for the area. Had an overstuffed chicken club sandwich for less than $20. And my dining companion really enjoyed his fish sandwich. Don't bother with an egg cream here.. Service is good, but water glasses need to be refilled.

Food was disappointing. Had a 'sriracha shrimp wrap' which wasn't in the least bit spicy, way more wrap than filling. Not worth the $20, including tax; street food is way better.

We were there for dinner before a concert. Typical diner menu, did have some fun appetizers (Mac & cheese bites were great). I had a pastrami Reuben and it was over the top delicious. Pastrami was so tender and juicy. The best Reuben I ever had. Awesome. I have to tell you though, New Yorkers are the most incompassionate , least empathetic people on the planet (born & raised here, I’m embarrassed to say). An older gentleman was passed out on a the men’s room floor and instead of helping him, people were just walking around him to get to the urinal. My daughter noticed this (she was on line for the ladies room) and ran in to help & stayed with him until the EMTs arrived (something the restaurant manager should have been doing). The whole episode ruined the feel good vibe we had about the place.

Food is always great. Brunch is crowded but has great selection (including anything off the rest of the menu). Something for literally everyone.

We ordered chicken & waffles, apple pie pancakes, and a fruit bowl with two sodas. The chicken was good but it was supposed to be four pieces. I received 1 thigh piece cut in half, a wing, and a leg. Opt for chicken tenders if you plan to lie to your patrons about the quantity. The waffles was hard and hollow because of the lack of batter. The pancakes were completely awful. No taste whatsoever! The food was served to us cold. I told the waiter that the sodas were flat and he just shrugged and said “yeah we’re out of syrup”. If you knew that then why wouldn’t you let me know that? Overall it was nothing I would return to. Before leaving the waiter told us “I like it better when people tip in cash.” I thought it was a rude thing to say considering the fact I had only seen him once!! The kitchen staff had to deliver our food. 0/10

Horrible experience. They refused to honor a reservation for a group of eight that traveled an hour and a half to dine. They cited “it was too busy.”

We had and early lunch before going to Madison Square Garden for a show. There were 17 of us and they accommodated all of us beautifully. The food came out quickly and though there were 2 mistakes they fixed them and we ate and paid in more than enough time. Very professional and friendly staff. And the proximity to the Garden is great!

It was a perfect spot for Christmas dinner and considerably less expensive than booking a family Christmas dinner at a restaurant. Touristy but perfect!

We are here a couple of times during our stay. The breakfast was amazing and lots of it too! The staff were friendly and polite and anything we wanted was no trouble for them. We ate on Christmas Day for dinner and the food was fantastic. The best steak I’ve ever had and my son loved his Philly cheese steak and my wife her pasta! Great portions too! We were all full, fat and happy when we left! We only wish we had more time in New York to eat there again!!!
