Live Jazz at the Whitby Bar is returning every Friday night from 6pm to 9pm. Enjoy classic Negroni cocktails as you listen to live jazz music from The Sam Taylor Trio.

For our Afternoon Tea service, please book via Open Table through the EXPERIENCE option. To confirm your afternoon tea reservation, we require a credit card for our cancellation policy. Should you cancel within 24 hours of the booking, a $50/pp cancellation fee will incur.

The Whitby Bar and Restaurant, inside The Whitby Hotel located in the heart of upper Midtown, offers modern American food in a uniquely eclectic setting. Open daily for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.

Join us at The Whitby Bar for a delicious Afternoon Tea served in the colorful restaurant or the elegant Orangery. Served on Kit Kemp's beautiful Sailor's Farewell Wedgwood china, enjoy delectable finger sandwiches, including smoked salmon mousse, Egg salad & Truffles, selection of mouthwatering cakes and homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves. $75 per person or $95 including a glass of Joseph Perrier. Afternoon Tea service reservations are booked through the experience. We ask you to cancel your reservation by 10pm the day prior. We have a 5 minute grace period in case you are running late. Please call 646-928-4207 If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. Special requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance.

I went for the afternoon tea, and it was amazing. There was an issue with my reservation, and they were able to accommodate me and my party. Everyone was nice and accommodating.

Charming venue with great latin jazz on the weekends and delicious food with experienced and polite servers. Crisp clean white table cloths and great wine menu too

There were seven or eight servers standing around talking but definitely not there to work. I had to get them multiple times and no one asked how our meal was. The food was okay but overall I wouldn't recommend it or go back.

Went for afternoon tea. Very nice decor. Service was slow and inattentive. Portions were small, and most of the items were underwhelming.

Wonderful dinner at The Whitby Bar. Delicious market salad and the salmon with mashed sweet potatoes was divine. Loved the blackberry plum cake, too. The room is gorgeous. Look forward to returning.

Our afternoon tea was a fantastic experience! They were even able to offer gluten free options for my daughter who has celiacs disease.

Beautiful hotel and inviting spaces. The server and assistants were very engaging and checked on our table often. Prices were typical for fine NYC hotels. It is a recommended spot for me and my friends. Make sure you book on Open Table as they have limited spots because of taking care of in-house guests first.

First time after going many times disappointed with food and service from restaurant. Maybe will try bar area. Need to change menu. Good served warm not hot and didn’t back left overs as requested. Ambience not change very nice. Like music but alittle loud fir conversation

I loved everything about the Whitby bar. Cool and beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, wonderful bartenders, just an all-around lovely evening. Yes, on Saturday night, there was a jazz band and the lovely singer was excellent

I have been to The Whitby for afternoon tea many times. Recently I returned with 3 guests on April 6th. I also had them order take-out dinner. I did not question the bill while at The Whitby but thought I would review it again at home. I noticed that afternoon tea does not actually include tea and that is an extra charge. I am sure that has become necessary due to the increased cost of doing business. We had a lovely time. The staff is very accommodating. I had to call and ask for a change to a later time and the hostess very graciously took care of it.

A beautiful escape from the busy streets. Colorful, happy spot. Service was excellent. Food was unfortunately average, needed a little more taste to sandwiches, little bland. Scones a bit dry. I am a picky afternoon tea goer though. Chai tea was terrific. Would definitely recommend. Great experience as one of the more affordable teas in NYC

Service was incredibly slow for not a busy restaurant. Over 30m to find someone to place order. Meal was completed before anyone passed through to request a condiment. Tip is automatically applied so I guess it’s to be expected. Staff were nice just nowhere to be found. Food was good but experience was unnecessarily dragged out and not worth returning. Bathroom was clean restaurant itself is nice.

We came for tea time, staff was helpful but took forever for our good to arrive. My tea had gotten cold by then. The tea time sandwiches were decent, scones were very crumbly. I've been to the Plaza tea time and it fares far better than this and is around the same price. Ambiance is nice and the place is cute.

The Whitby is a total delight! I can’t wait to go back. It is a beautiful and intriguing hotel-great art everywhere. And warm, colorful design throughout. The staff is so friendly. A great find in midtown!

My daughters and I were excited to have tea in a new spot in NYC. We have been to several spots when we visit the city and were excited to try The Whitby because it was close to the Gershwin theatre. Our female Asian server argued about accidentally serving my daughters’ tea to me and mine to them instead of simply switching. I was shocked when the bill came and were charged the expected fee for 3 teas and an extra $30 for “specialty loose tea” when the simple earl grey was included in the overall price. She corrected the bill and claimed she forgot that the tea was included in the cost of TEA. Servers taking advantage of out of town visitors in the city is a shame.

Poor quality of food in general. The pastries luck of delicacy and taste. Any French patisserie around the city have better quality products. Finger sandwiches were tasteless. The tea was not refilled upon request but instead the waitress added hot water to the kettle Awful experience.

The tea time experience was so great! My friends and I had such a good time - staff were nice, food was great, hot water was flowing and the best part was that we were not rushed to leave! 😁

While the ambiance is lovely, the staff was friendly, the scones were burnt. I have had tea here several times, but this time they were off. On another note- the fries were AMAZING
