I met up with some friends for dinner at The Thirsty Koala. It is a great place on the Ditmars Boulevard strip of restaurants. Great food. Great service. Friendly vibe.

We had a 2:15 reservation for brunch on new year’s day. We were seated and waiting for our server for 25 minutes and eventually we had to leave because we were starving and no one had even come by to take our drink order. Then it seemed like the Owner/Manager was yelling at one of the servers which was just uncomfortable.

The Thirsty Koala have been the place for major team events for the past 2 years. They have been very good with accommodating and delivering great service to our party of 12-16 at all these dinners. The atmosphere, drinks and food will always leave you happy.

Love this place! Food and drinks are always delicious and amazing! Very cozy, warm and welcoming feeling letting you know you’re part of a great neighborhood. The owner Kathy is awesome and she’ll come and say hello to ask about the food but also you - so sweet. On Mondays prepare to be serenaded by a talented musical duo!

Food was pretty good but portions aren't large for the price. Raw oysters overpriced and small. Service was OK, not a lot of diners but still forgot an order. Had a cocktail during happy hour and it tasted watered down. Not very good overall experience.

I have been to this restaurant two times for dinner. I came with my family for brunch this past Sunday. Just realized their brunch menu is limited and they don’t have seafood or large appetizers that I like. The restaurant was quite noisy so we had to raise our voices in order to talk. Overall, both service and food are good and i will definitely come back again for dinner.

We had a birthday dinner with our grandma at the restaurant. Both food and service are very good and our waitress was very friendly. We particularly enjoyed the fish tacos and beer battered fish. I also like the pastured steak dish and will definitely come back again.

Our waiter was excellent, the outdoor dining had a great vibe and the food was tasty. We particularly liked the jalapeño corn fritters. There were vegan and gluten free options that were delicious! Creative cocktails were inspired. A great brunch all around.

Had the 10th anniversary Ned Kelly sandwich minus the bell peppers. Was pretty good but my friend wasn’t impressed with her food. I chose grilled veggies minus bell peppers again. I think I liked the grilled veggies more than the sandwich. The zucchini was especially good, slightly sweet & crunchy, grilled to perfection. I wanted a milkshake & they made me 1 even tho they don’t serve milkshakes. I personally think all restaurants should sell milkshakes but up to them. The milkshake had shaved chocolate, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream & was milk chocolately. My friend got house fries which weren’t actually fries. They were potato chunks covered in bell peppers. They gave us actual fries later on which was much appreciated. Service was excellent this time.

The food was ok nothing special , the place was fine , the service was really bad only 2 guys playing as hostess, waitress, bartending, buss boy etc so they were rushing , forgetting the order , bringing the cocktails after the food, and of course stressed . I would never go back to this place. Even if it’s not their fault there is really bad organization with their staff that makes ur experience very unpleasant

I know cost has gone up for everyone and everything but I’m not motivated to keep eating out when restaurants are nicking and dimming you. Cost has increased while quality is decreasing. You can’t even get a refill on your coffee anymore and its $5 for a cup. Plus it a guaranteed 18% tip even if service is not good I got my latte after my meal and it’s because of the machine but said anything or mention I should get another beverage

everything was just great...the staff is accommodating, friendly, & attentive... food was delicious & i'm looking forward to returning there asap so i can try a different dish.... i had the chicken marsala with incredible sauteed mushrooms & grilled veggies..my friend had a fish dish which looked great...i want to try a fish dish next time...the portions are quite generous, so go prepared to eat ...there were a lot of regulars coming in, pick-ups, etc...and the owner, kathy, seemd to know them all by name...the thirsty koala is like the "cheers" of restaurants....you really will feel welcome...
