At the Summit, you’re in for a refreshing dining experience with a view that’s almost as spectacular as the food itself! We are offering The Summit Food & Spirit menu that includes appetizers, pizzas and sandwiches. Dinner specials will be available after 5pm on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Did not feel welcome in the establishment. From the moment we walked in, my wife and I felt uncomfortable because we are not townies. The food was really great, but we were in and out as fast as we could be because of the looks we got from everyone at the bar.

Our first red flag is the address listed was wrong. We ended up in a residential neighborhood. Then, the restaurant is in a family oriented hotel, this was just ok. Denny’s is better. This is not a restaurant I would have expected to be with open table. We tried the walleye strips, Gordon’s fish sticks have more fish on them, which was the reason we decided to give it a try. This place more like a restaurant in a bowling alley than one listed with Open Table or with 4 stars.

We enjoyed sitting by the window overlooking the ski hill. The menu needs an overhaul. Although my walleye was pretty good my boyfriends breaded pork sandwich was inedible.

The scenic view was amazing, but the food was just ok. There was no line strictly for people who made a reservation, so make sure you just go right to the host station and tell them you have a reservation. The waitress was good, but the drink I ordered was wayyy too strong. She was kind enough to take it off our bill, without me asking, when the drink was undrinkable.

The view of the colorful trees and the Mississippi River was spectacular! Our food, a Reuben and chicken wrap were good. Our server was inattentive and it wasn’t because of a lack of servers. There were plenty of napkins right on the table! We would dine there again.

The food was awful, and then cold. It was dead during dinner on a Friday and now we know why. This was our first and last time we will come here when we visit Galena!! The best part about this place was the beautiful scenery to get there.

First time visit. We wanted to escape the busy weekend crowds of Galena. Although we made reservations for Sunset Grille, they weren’t seating in that restaurant rather they only had the bar and grill restaurant open. Beautiful sunset views overlooking the river and ski slopes. We had the brisket and wallet strips. The fish was tasty. The brisket was lathered in bbq sauce a bit too heavily. We would go back for the views not necessarily the food.

I had the salmon which was very good and was accompanied with a very taste sauce. My husband had the ribs which was also very good and well prepared. The broccoli was done to perfection and not overcooked and tasteless. Our compliments to the chef!

The Walleye strips and brisket burger were both great. The view of the river was beautiful. It took a long time for a server to take our order. My husband had to go back up to the hostess to get assistance.

We had made reservations 10 days prior to our arrival and 24 hrs before arriving I got an email to confirm our reservation. I replied back to let them know we would be there. When we arrived there was a sign where you would normally enter to go and see hostess saying to go next door to the summit restaurant and check in there. We checked in 10 min before our reservation time and the young girl said sorry we’re not seating anyone at the Sunset grill as there is a wedding there today, I explain to her that we had reservations that were 10 days old and that no one had said there was a wedding or couldn’t accommodate us. She just shrugged her shoulders and said well follow me so as we walk through the summit restaurant she brought us to her table in the middle of the restaurant and I asked can we sit where there’s a View and she said oh sorry we can’t separate those tables. When all she had to do was pull the two tables apart so at that point I was pretty perturbed and said to her well we wanna sit there anyway, another waitress came over and said oh sorry you can’t seat them there at which time I said kindly oh no we’re going to sit here thank you very much and sat down. Our waitress Yolanda was very nice, speedy with our drinks and was in generally good spirits. the rest of the staff that brought our food out was very impersonable set our food down didn’t say a word to us and walked away five stars for Yolanda one star for the rest of the staff.

Resort dining. Amazing views of the Mississippi River. Wait staff are very pleasant. Way too much mediocre food. I suggest a pizza or a sandwich instead of the dinner menu.

My husband and I stayed at Chestnut Mountain Resort for a few nights. I made a reservation at their restaurant for his birthday. We arrived to our reservation 5-10 minutes early. We waited at the hostess desk to be seated. We had multiple employees look right at us; we even saw what looked like a manager, calling over an employee and talked to them, while both of them kept looking over at us. Yet no one greeted us or came up to us or asked us if we needed anything. There were no other guests at the restaurant, so they weren't busy with anyone. The restaurant was completely empty. After waiting for 15 minutes or more, we walked away and went elsewhere. Very disappointed in this experience. Will not be returning.

Food is mediocre and overpriced. Nice view of the Mississippi. Really the only thing to recommend about this restaurant. In the evening there is no shade and the sun is right in your eyes for at least two of the people at the table. Not likely to go back.

We ate on the outside deck overlooking the Mississippi River. It was quite warm outside, but the restaurant provides huge umbrellas to keep the heat down. The view from the deck is breathtaking, considering it's in Illinois. We ate, as we usually do, the Walleye fingers. They are breaded and served with a Wasabi Cucumber sauce - excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone - just when I'm not there so I can get a seat.

Went for our 10 year anniversary. Made reservations 2 weeks prior. We were sat on the sidewalk outside where people were walking around us or within our bubble. Couldn’t even have a conversation without having some kid come running through us. Service was terrible, server never came back to check on us for drinks or see how our food was. She came to bring us our bill and we wanted dessert, that was a bad decision too. If you want frozen then thawed food for a good penny, then this is your place. Food was not good for how much we paid. The only good thing about this place was the fall colors on the trees. Super disappointed. I understand COVID has made things difficult, but the least they could’ve done is put us up on the patio overlook so we weren’t interrupted or felt like we were in the middle of chaos.

First time to the Galena area and this restaurant was well rated by "yelp." We decided to eat at the bar as the outside dining was uncomfortable due to the wind. So we are sports people and the bar was outstanding for anyone who wanted to watch sports. At least 6 TV's and big TV's. Unfortunately the bartend, I will cal "J", was the most unattentive server I have had. More interested in washing glasses, leaving the bar for whatever reason, my wife and I sat there for 20 minutes before we had to summon him to take an order. The "chips" came out cold, the "wedge salad" wasn't very good.....not much bacon and dressing. Never got a "how are things, folks?" Etc. First time in many years that we walked out with a $0 tip. And I usually tip 20-25%. Too bad. I think it is a nice place, but our experience was sub par at best.
