In the 1950s, The Speckled Trout was a place to stop and fill up your gas tank. Now, you can fill up on fresh mountain trout, soup beans, and hoecakes and wash it down with local farm beer or fresh rosé. We explore the roots of Appalachian food and beverage culture and re-create it in our kitchen by preserving and reviving ingredients of our local heritage.

Join us at The Speckled Trout for a taste of locally sourced regional fare by Chef Michael Foreman and warm hospitality that will keep y'all coming back!

Delicious food and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. We sat on the patio with our dog and enjoyed the upscale food and broad beer menu.

Had dinner on a Monday night. Drinks were ordered and were good but no one asked if we wanted another. Split one starter that was $15 for 4 small biscuits and some trout spread. Also had Trout poboy sandwich and crusted trout as main courses and both were ok but expensive for size of portion. Dessert was ordered and was just basic anyone could fix. Service was prompt but no follow up throughout dinner. We were celebrating an Anniversary and that was on the reservation so they seated us next to bathroom entrance with bench seating. Total with tax and tip low $101.

The smoked trout was really, really good along with the Mac & cheese. Service was very good and friendly. The only, and I mean only thing less than positive I can say is that it sits at a very busy intersection in Blowing Rock but don’t let that stop you. Great food, great draft and canned/bottled beer selections and wine. This is our second time eating there and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times!!

Our dining at Speckled Trout was excellent, as always. The food was delicious & presentation was lovely & inviting. Our server was very pleasant & engaging & was helpful w our questions. A table near us was a bit loud, but not terrible. 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

More is not always better - food is way too salty and over-spiced. Results in a dish that is just sort of all over the place. The sides and flavors should enhance one another. Waitress was very kind and attentive. Love the creativity of the bar tender, though only one of the 3 drinks was something I’d order again.
