This is one of my favorite restaurants on the upper west side. The owners and the staff are all courteous and most engaging! Food is delicious! I love happy hour and am grateful for The shell being here

TheShell is my families favorite uws resturant. they have now expanded their menu. every dish we had last night (tuna tartare, oysters, sizzling shrimp, crab cake, salmon, halibut, swordfish) was great. each main has a different side dish, which was also great. attentive, friendly staff

This was our first time at this neighborhood restaurant , menu was very appealing, and food was consistently excellent, everything seemed fresh and tasty. The problem was with the service, and our waiter in particular so should not necessarily reflect the restaurant. He was pushy, and really pressured guests into making choices that they did not particularly want. Also the mixed drinks/cocktails ordered were disappointing. I would definitely give this place another chance though.

Food was excellent. Fresh and tasty. We arrived at 7 and the owner gave us a dozen oysters at the happy hour price. He is an extremely nice guy and gracious host. Some of the best fish I’ve eaten in a long time.

Food. service and ambience were excellent The key to the meal however was the fabulous treatment we received from the maitre d and wait staff The maitre d came over several times to inquire how the meal was and asked if there was anything else he could do or serve us.

This was my first time at the Shell and I would have to say it was ok- not great. I do love that they have Happy Hour even on weekends- a plus! with $1.99 oysters that were plump and delicious. Decent wine by the glass at Happy Hour. My companion had the special of scallops and shrimp on risotto and loved it- but I had the Paella and was disappointed. it was cooked to order but came out overcooked (the restaurant was not busy since it was early) and bland. Our server was very attentive but actually too attentive. Will likely try it again but not sure

Sat at the bar, solo. Great bartender, attentive staff. Oysters were excellent. Grilled octopus was excellent. Banzino was cooked perfectly.

Shell is a neighborhood gem. The food is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive. And the prices are reasonable. We’ve been there four times and sampled various appetizers and main courses, all of which have been delicious. We intend to go back frequently.

Our family had a lovely evening at shell . We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated . We ordered a variety of dishes calamari, Oysters, monkfish , salmon,shrimp. We loved them all ! It was our first visit to the Shell but it won't be our last !

Beautiful restaurant with nicely spaced tables. Great choices for all types of fish, and some non fish items. Most delicious burrata salad. The choices for dinner. Halibut over cauliflower mash, delicious. Tuna cooked to perfection. Special fish swordfish absolutely delicious. Pear tart for dessert. The service was friendly and professional . Highly recommend this restaurant.

We made an early reservation and to our surprise we still benefited from the happy hour and the standard food. My portion of tuna grilled my partner had pasta that he kept to himself. A shoutout to the staff who shouldered familiar customers as well as us. The chocolate ice cream and sorbets are excellent.

The entire restaurant was cold, regardless of where they seated us. The main entrance has no outside vestibule to block the wind, and a side door was often opened/closed creating a wind tunnel.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant, but the restaurant needs a HANDRAIL for entry and exiting. When we suggested this, the management seemed not to be interested. We hope there will not be any accidents!!

Very nice restaurant and I'm glad it's in my neighborhood. I went for brunch with a childhood friend. One item was not available but they had a lot to choose from. My friend had the shrimp and mushroom omelet, and I had the french toast. Both delicious, as were our drinks. The servers were very polite. As for the noise level, there weren't many folks there at that time (1 pm) so it was pretty quiet.

We were disappointed in the shrimp mushroom omelettes for brunch. The eggs Benedict and vegetarian omelette were good.The happy hour oysters were excellent, as was the Pinot Grigio. The happy hour fried calamari was disappointing . We’ve had better there in the past. Service was welcoming and very good.

The Shell is one of our new neighborhood favorites. The food is delicious, the service is outstanding and friendly. Our family has dined here multiple times, sampling a variety of entrees and appetizers - everything we’ve tried has been a complete winner. We hope they’re here to stay.

An extremely pleasant dining experience. We enjoyed the paella M,T,W special. The restaurant’s low noise level made it possible for our group of 4 to have good conversation. A winning combination of food and ambiance! Excellent service as well!

They are so lovely and eager to please. The food is absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. The ambiance is what it is as it was a nice evening and we chose to sit outside .
