Welcome to The Rex Seaside Steakhouse.

A neighborhood steakhouse using seasonal and quality ingredients to bring flavor and hospitality to Redondo Beach. Join us in our dining room every night or our Drift Cocktail Lounge on Friday and Saturdays for a night to remember.

Intentionally sourced with an eye for quality, we offer USDA Prime, Miyazaki A5 Japanese Wagyu, and American Wagyu. All are steaks are cooked to perfection over our white oak fire.

Family-owned and operated, we strive to off a one-of-a-kind luxury experience with all the charm of a neighborhood restaurant.

Join us Thursday, May 23rd at 6:00 PM for an exceptional dining experience! This tastemaker features wines from The Prisoner Wine Company paired with Chef Walter's 4-course creations. Each course will be paired and guided by a representative from Prisoner Wine Company who will tell the story of their rule-bending blends and historic label designs. Ora King Salmon Tartare Golden Beets, Avocado, Pickled Shallot, Dill Emulsion Jidori Farms Chicken Breast Carrots, Schmaltz, Chanterelles Filet Mignon Potato Pave, Main Lobster, Bearnaise Cherry Chocolate Hazelnut Tart *$1 deposit is held to reserve a seat. The total cost of dinner is $150+tax+grat per diner. Deposits are refunded if canceled 72 hours before the start of the dinner.

First Time Dining at Rex. My family and I went to Rex to celebrate mothers Day. We started by ordering cocktails. My wife ordered the pinacilllin, my daughters ordered blood & sand and I had a Chopan martini followed by bread , Spanish octopus and Crudo I highly recommend that you try all six. For the main course My wife had the 8 oz filet mignon, Daughters had the salmon, short rib, and I had the best rib eye steak in my life. Love the fact that you are giving plenty of time to enjoy the food and you are not being rushed like in many other restaurants. Love Rex and will definitely be back.

The only real complaint I have is that my $70 steak was a bit over the medium I requested. It was not as tender as I had hoped. But overall, a nice experience, though quite pricy.

We got stuck outside in the wind, no bueno. Drinks and food took forever to get delivered to our table. As a repeat guest the food seems to have taken a slide for sure.

The place is beautiful. Great ambiance! The hostess and servers were fantastic, especially Justin. The prices were as expected for this type of eatery, fairly expensive. But not out of line for this caliber of restaurant. The table setting was done with a casual elegance. Again, service was excellent without being over the top. The ribeye was cooked to a proper medium rare. The filet mignon was cooked to a medium perfectly. The broccolini was too vinegary. Finally, the butter cake with vanilla ice cream was delicious. We just wished it was served with butter roasted pecans with cinnamon and sugar.

Another great evening at The Rex! Kudos to server, Aaron who did a fantastic job, solid knowledge around the menu and ideal attention to our table by the entire staff. They have really cold Smog City IPA beer, which was delicious. I had not previously indulged in the bread which is coated with butter and maldon salt (A grade). The Crudo, kanpachi, truffle, kumquat was also new to me and melt in your mouth good (A). Overall, this is always a great meal, and my latest visit was no exception to the rule. If you drink and enjoy a proper meal with sides and appetizers, expect the spend about $125/person, including tip.

For the amount I spent this place is not worth it. Had reservations, host was very pleasant. We were seated right away. It then took 25 minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us and bother taking our order. We flagged the host down at 15 minutes checking to see if anyone was going to help. She said she would let a manager know, 10 minutes later we got a server to finally take our order. No manager bothered to come over and even check in on us. Server was mediocre at best. Steak was good the rest was just ok. Not worth a second visit.

Service and staff were friendly, nice and accommodating!!! They truly went above and beyond. Restaurant is pretty. No complaints so far but the Prices were very Expensive and not worth the quality of the food. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 for $180.00!!! We requested medium and many of the pieces were well done... UNACCEPTABLE!, especially for supposedly high quality steak place. Not worth the money.

From the time we walked in to the time we left, we felt very well cared for. We happened to be celebrating a birthday, and that fact was not lost on the staff: there was a birthday card which was signed by everyone, as well as a decadent dessert for the birthday boy! Delicious food and excellent service. 10/10 would recommend!

Don't bother going to Rex if you're looking for the best steak in the LA South Bay - Go to the Arthur J. Not easy saying that The Arthur J is good value but compared to Rex ....IT IS!!! Rex cost over $200 per head and the service was not consistent with that. The app was good ... Steak Tartare. The Filet was fatty?? The service was SLOW... inconsistent... lacking. Asked for salt and pepper 3 times before it arrived. Didn't bother to ask my wife if she'd like another glass of wine when the next bottle of red arrived for the rest of us. Went to the Mexican Cantina across the street for drinks after and the service was exceptional. 70th Birthday party upstairs used as the excuse for poor service .... don't you staff for that??? not so much the King "Rex" of steaks .....not a Baroness of steaks... more like a Carl's Jr of steaks. Sides are $15 and are tiny Summary : No thanks ...grill at home of go to The Arthur J

The restaurant has a great ambiance. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided us with her recommendations. My son ordered the Rex steak cooked medium. I like a fatty cut of steak, so if you're like me, I would pass on this and opt for the regular ribeye. The "bread" and octopus were delicious as appetizers, and I highly recommend it. The tagliatelle entree was bursting with flavors. However, the pasta was more linguine and not the flatter and wider noodle of a true tagliatelle.

Not our best experience at the Rex. Took 30min before we placed an order and another 1 hr for food. We’ve had much better experiences in the past and left disappointed.

First time at the Rex and we were impressed. The steaks, toppings and sides were delicious. My husband ordered medium rare and his steak was definitely medium, but our server took the steak back with out question and my husband had a perfectly cooked steak in 6 minutes. We were seated at a table in the bar (we made our reservation just the night before) so the noise level was rather high. I suggest making reservations as early as possible and request anywhere but the bar.

I hate giving a poor review, love the restaurant! The new version of their hamburger is awful! They need to bring back the original juicy and flavorful hamburger. The new version is dry and stiff and the thousand dressing and pickles are too over powering. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL REX BURGER ♥️

Normally take my mother or younger brother here regularly for birthdays and special occasions. Sometimes make appearances for drinks and apps at the bar. But wow… never had such a bad experience until tonight… service was extremely flat, unappealing, and honestly subpar. Cocktails and appetizers were solid, per usual. But waited 50+ minus for main entrees. Tagliatelle and broccolini side was insanely salty, lobster gnocchi came out underdone, fishy, and ice cold. Tour of beef was not made to asking temp (extremely overdone), but sea bass risotto was great. Really pains me to leave an unpleasant review, but Rex has definitely taken a step backward…

Overall a great experience at The Rex. Found decent parking, which can be difficult in that area of Redondo Beach. They had our reserved table ready and we were sat near the bar. Very cool to watch the wide variety of cocktails flying out of there. Espresso Martinis were popular that nite. Kyle, probably one of the managers greeted us first as our server was busy with 2 large groups. He was excellent and recommended some delicious drinks. Bee Stinger is a must try. Mescal gives that killer Smokey taste. Wifey and I shared the Wedge salad; so crisp and loaded with pork belly pieces. Amazing. Our server, Francisco helped us decide on our main and sides. We opted for the ribeye with crazy good honey carrots and mornay Mac & cheese as sides. Steak was sliced and served a perfect medium cook. Can’t forget the wonderful sauce it comes with on the side. Then to top off the nite, Francisco and Kyle gave us a scoop of ice cream dessert in honor of our wedding anniversary. Incredible evening. Wifey was very impressed and wants to go back when the weather gets warmer to party on the 2nd floor. Thanks to The Rex team for a great 16th wedding anniversary dinner.

Where to start… we have tried this place several times over the past year whenever our usual restaurants are booked on a Friday night and been disappointed each time. The service is always subpar; you’ll wait around for your drink order to be taken after you are seated. Once the waiter does decide to take your food order, your entrees will literally take 45 minutes or more to arrive. I’m not kidding, even when there are several empty tables in the restaurant and they aren’t that busy. Then, when your food does come, it won’t be all that great. The ‘manager’ will just prance around talking to people who are clearly his friends, instead of asking how your dinner experience is. I have never had this sort of experience at any of our local MB or HB restaurants, which are always packed wall to wall and busy as hell on the weekends. It makes sense why you can always book a rez here on short notice, even on the weekends… Just make the drive to Slay or Arthur J whenever you want excellent service and a great steak every time.

Truly one of the best meals of my life and I have dined all over the world. We were celebrating my nephew's birthday and the service was attentive and outstanding. Where on earth do they get the incredible bread!!! (and I am not usually a bread eater)

2nd visit to the Rex but last night was terrrible. The food was served 1hr after the appetizer and steak was salty, carrots undercooked. I won’t be back.

Nice dinner. All the food tasted good. My only complaint is the steak had way too much fat! You need fat for flavor, but almost half the steak was fat. I would expect better for those kind of prices

This was our second time dining at The Rex. The ambience was great and the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding from the moment we arrived to the establishment. The steaks were flavorful, which was a plus. Drinks were made to perfection. I have no complaints. We will be dining there again for sure. Thank you.
