We were seated in the bar - which was unexpected, but okay. The table was awkward. Food was good, but not as good as last time I ate there in 2015. As with most restaurants these days, what you get never seems worth what you pay.

I had the pasta dish with sausage, mushroom, and a brandy cream sauce. It was incredible! The service was outstanding, I’m not sure if he was the manager, owner, or a server but the gentleman who waited on us was incredible attentive and really made the experience!

This was our first time here and I have to say from the moment we walked in to the moment we left EVERYTHING was fantastic!! The service was phenomenal. The host and server were super attentive. Working in the hospitality industry, to see the Chef/Owner touch every table to check in on each guest was the best. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and the short ribs - DELICIOUS! We will definitely return and recommend this cute and cozy Italian restaurant!

Very disappointed we went there in 2020 right after Covid opened up it was amazing yesterday the food was subpar my ladies Wellington was over cooked my scallop dinner was nothing to rave about the best thing I remember was the Sauvignon blanc I drank it was excellent

Everything about The Red Door was magnificent! The service (Jake, you're amazing!), the lovely ambiance (small, intimate and relaxed), and the food (incredible, delicious, we wanted to keep eating) were outstanding! The owner, Luciano, was hospitable, welcoming, gracious, and ensured we had a wonderful meal. The extra bonus for me, as a Celiac, was the abundance of gluten-free options. And holy cow, the handmade GF bucatini was to die for. Be sure to find your way to The Red Door if you're ever in the Hillcrest neighborhood.

Online menu for separate prices for Lunch and Dinner. But in fact we were charged Dinner prices for a Lunch menu. When we asked about it we were told they now all All Day Menu prices. But website has not been updated. Apologies accepted, but still hefty price to pay for outdoor seating on a noisy corner full of traffic. Bathroom was dark, and grungy. Wait staff and Chef charmed us but actually food left us wanting.

Not as good as it had been before. Portion sizes far too big. We went at 7.30 and we were done by 8.15. Emptied out by the time we left.

We started with the butternut Brie. Delicious. I had the pepperdelle ragu which was quite good. My husband had the chicken parmigiana, which was a rave! Very tender, not dry, very flavorful with a good marinara. My choice next time. Don’t miss the Tiramisu, light and the perfect finish! California Cab was very good with our meal. We’ll be back! Service was attentive. Shout out to Jake and Nicholas.

Staff friendly and attentive. Starters (Mac and cheese and arugula salad) were lovely. Main dishes were plenty of food but meat was a bit tough. Probably won't be on my regular restaurant rotation.

Love this place! Food is great! Service is excellent! It’s so cozy it feels like you’re hosting a dinner party in your living room minus the prep and clean up. I would recommend to my friends and family!

Everything about this restaurant is fabulous! Please go if you have not been. we were on the bar side which was very lively and had beautiful music. The restaurant side looked lovely as well. However, we did not dine on that side. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and the chef came out to speak to us as well. Definitely recommend and we will be back to try the beef Wellington!

It was a wonderful evening with friends, incredible food, and incredible service. They made us feel at home. I appreciated the Chef coming out and saying hi. Jake made excellent suggestions and was very attentive. I will be back!

We got the beef wellington and the special flatbread. Loved the flatbread! Just a little salt and pepper on the beef wellington which made it perfect. We will be back!

The food here is reliably excellent across the board. Standouts for us were the flatbread and eggplant parm. But it’s hard to go wrong. They have some nice Italian wines on their list as well. My only criticism is that the noise level is very high when it’s busy in the dining room. But it’s certainly lively!

Food was fabulous. The chef came to our table & asked about our meal which was very kind. I think our server was the only 1 in our area & they got distracted or busy with other tables so we had to ask for things a few times. No harm no foul. They were very nice. Would eat there again.

This is a hidden gem and would say it's my favorite restaurant in San Diego. The food is beyond spectacular! If they have the squash blossoms on special- they are a must! Meatballs are out of this world and pasta is always al dente. Nice touch When the comes out to your table. Reasonably priced!

Server Ryan was extremely attentive and well-informed re: menu and specials. Food was great - especially loved the snapper. The Sinatra singer/sax player in the bar was absolutely delightful. Look forward to our next visit.

The strawberry vinagrette salad dressing was very sour. I was expecting it be slightly sweet and there wasn't enough strawberries in the salad. The lasagna was good but not the best I've had. I didn't like that it had so much sauce. It would have been nice to have some bread with the meal.

I normally give this place 5 stars, but two things happened that brought my rating down: (1) It was cold in the inside seating. The three women next to us asked the waiter to do something. He shut the front door, and then turned up the heater a bit. But the owner said he wanted the front door to stay wide open. Bad on you, owner. The customer comes first. (2) Prices, especially on their signature disk, the Beef Wellington, have gotten out of hand. $58? Really? It will limit my return trips. Decor hasn't changed in years. Ambience? Well, at least the muzak was good. But with places like Anime around, I doubt if I will come here again for awhile. Cheers!

The bar area had live jazz music which was very pleasant. Not too loud. The chicken wings were very tasty. Not super crunchy but the sauce was very flavorful. The grouper was cooked perfectly with crispy skin. The lamb shank was huge and so tender. The toffee date cake was just right. I’m also picky about my coffee after dinner. They made it fresh and individual and it was hot just like it should be. Overall a wonderful date night with my hubby.
