The Rabbits is a family friendly gastro pub & restaurant in the heart of the essex countryside. We pride ourselves on good friendly service and good quality homecooked food with our seasonal menus, we serve real ales, fine wines & premium spirits. We have a great beer garden where you can take in the picturesque views whilst not having to go too far to order any food or drink as this can all be done at our garden bar which is also playing background music around our garden, this is open Thurs-Sunday throughout the spring/summer weather permitting. There is a childrens play area and we also welcome dogs in our garden and inside the bar area. The Rabbits Team look forward to seeing you soon.

First visit to The Rabbits! Won’t be my last, one of the best roasts I have had, I chose the Pork, it was soft, flavoursome, love the pork cracking, my husband had the Roast Beef which was also as delicious.. staff very friendly, worked non stop while we were there, definitely will be a regular there for sure..

Had a nice meal having been to the restaurant before. So was looking forward to a Sunday roast dinner. The beef was lovely however the use of ‘Aunt Bessie’s’ roast potatoes & Yorkshire puddings was a big disappointment! Lovely desserts too but for the cost of the meal I was expecting home made roasters & Yorkshire puds!

5 for Sunday lunch, first time at The Rabbits as been on my radar for a while now and we were not disappointed. Arrived early but our table was ready and we were all sat promptly. Waiting staff were very polite and informative and took our orders. Food came promptly and both starters and main courses were excellent with plenty on the plates for our mains. Decent selection of beers as spirits including low / non alcoholic beers for those driving or who dont drink. Look forward to coming back again and trying out the beer garden bar and outside area overlooking the surrounding countryside. Would certainly recommend

Friendly welcome for Mother's Day lunch. Open fire to welcome you as you enter. Efficient staff to seat you and a gift for Mum too. Good menu good served promptly tasty and hot. Background music not too obtrusive varied playlist. Would recommend and we will be back

The venue itself is nice and situated in a pleasant area, we enjoyed the food and the service was good. My only gripe is I had booked a table for in the conservatory as I wanted to be away from the bar and more brighter area for my kids but I was put in the bar after being told a party was in the conservatory and would be better placed else where which then left us sitting at a table right next to the bar.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, would recommend booking the conservatory looks slightly more spaceous. The fish and chips was delightful and apple crumble was amazing too!

- The tomato and bacon soup spicier than expected. - There was too much bread crumb on the haloumi balls (starter) and the portion was too large for a starter. - The prawns in the crab and prawn tagliatelle main course were more like shrimps. Notwithstanding the above the other courses were very good and the deserts delightful and its hoped theses comments are taken as constructive. Service was excellent. We shall eat thee again.

Lovely Sunday roast - generous portion and good amount of veg. Nicely catered for vegetarians with a nut roast and a choice of meats for others. More expensive it seemed than other roasts but great quality and tasty. Nice desserts. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere for couples - they also had large groups of families but it wasn’t noisy.

Really great sunday roast - we had the sharing roast and the food was delicious, followed by a selection of puddings which were similarly fantastic. Highly recommend for a Sunday roast and we will definitely be back.

This was a lovely place to meet a friend as a halfway point between us. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend.

Didn't get the conservatory seating I requested (I i don't like the main area as I always end up getting jostled as people move behind me). The reason given is that they had two big parties going on and there was no room. I arranged for this well enough in advance and if the seating wasn't available I should have been informed. In fact no seating was immediately available and we had to wait past the booking tome to be seated. Service was too slow, we ended up eating lunch at about 2:50pm for a 1:30 booking. The food was below par. There was less beef on the beef roast, the pork roast was actually a couple of pork chops , the Yorkshire puddings were like card and the gravy was cold.

A lovely and welcoming pub. It was very busy as they had some large parties. We were seated and served very quickly. The staff are lovely, very friendly and approachable and a good laugh. We had Sunday roast which was hot, tasty and great value for money. I would definitely recommend the pub

Lovely visit to the Rabbits Pub this weekend. Great pub, super friendly locals and staff. Loved the fire places!! Food was really good standard and came in great time. Family had a wonderful experience and already looking forward to booking our next visit!

Wanted to find a nice country pub with home cooked food and this place overdid our expectations. We went for the Sunday Roast and omg it was so worth it! You can tell its a good place as they we busy non stop!

First time visit. Staff welcoming and professional throughout. Standard of food first class. The ambience was fun and we enjoyed a lovely family reconnection over Sunday lunch. Thank you everyone involved in such an enjoyable experience.

Noise level only poor because a noisy family came in, which the restaurant can't help. Not The Rabbit's fault at all.

Really nice roasts. Huge portions. I just wish the booking could be longer for a table of 6 people so we could have stayed and chatted more. Waitress very friendly though.
