Le restaurant jumeau State Bird Provisions (juste à côté), The Progress est aussi la vision des chefs-propriétaires Stuart Brioza & Nicole Krasinski, mais avec une portée plus large: un menu familiale choisissez-votre propre aventure qui illustre la cuisine Californienne contemporaine et rustique. Dîner dans la salle à manger propose un menu à 62 dollars/personne, y compris les collations et quatre grands plats choisis par chaque table et ajusté à la taille du groupe. Le bar en face est ouvert aux clients sans réservation toute la nuit et dispose d'une version à la carte du menu. Had an excellent time! Couldn’t have asked for more from my first visit to The Progress. The broccoli dish was truly outstanding; I’ll be thinking about that one for a long time. My cocktail (one punch man) was incredible as well.

We had an excellent dining experience at The Progress. We started with the caviar potato cloud, which was light and multi-faceted (recommend getting individually as not really shareable). We also had the morel mushrooms and mulberry toast - both great. And finally the half duck, which was a tasty and a large portion - the other portions are on the smaller side. The waiter recommended a total of 4-6 dishes for 2 people (the duck counts as 2). Ambience was calm and quiet. The waiter was attentive and checked in often to see if we needed any other drinks or water refills.

The restaurant was not what I expected that was supposed to be in the top 25 in SF. I eat in the city a lot and I thin it was to "cute". The food was more Asian Fusion than California Cuisine.The waiter started out telling us we should try a few small dishes. We ordered the duck for 2 because that was supposed to be the signature dish. and the freshly dug potatoes. The potatoes came first and it was at least 45 minutes before the duck came. By the time in came to the table it was a huge plate and the duck was lukewarm. I was not impressed with the ideas of the two dishes I had.

Took my kids for my birthday celebration and it was ASTONISHINGLY great. The service was impeccable - warm, welcoming professionals all around. The ambiance is relaxed elegance. The food was OUTSTANDING. We ordered one caviar cloud to share and had to get a second - too delicious. And the duck lives up to the hype. Every single detail was perfection - we can't wait to go back.

One of the best, if not the best, restaurant I’ve been to in SF in 2 years. The style of the restaurant and the food they serve is both new and on point, unlike many of the other restaurants just vying for a Michelin star. All the food was great, but if I could recommend one item from each category, get the bird’s eye view to drink, the potato cloud as a starter, the artichoke toast as a veggie, and the noodles for the entree.

Food is innovative in preparation and flavors are unique. Service was attentive and met all expectations. The ambiance is comfortable but it could use a bit more warmth. Overall, the restaurant is well worth a visit.

The food is high quality and creatively composed. We sat at the bar which was a little cold and occasionally breezy when the door opened and closed. The main dining room is a stylish modern design of what might have been an industrial space. Not warm but polished. The menu is varied with choices for vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters alike. I particularly liked a few of the appetizers. Several of the dishes were centered around fresh seasonal vegetables. The sauces were unique and delicious. While this is not an inexpensive restaurant the food is fairly priced.

I cannot say enough about how amazing this food is. It is our special spot for dinner for every celebration. If you have not been, you will not be disappointed!!

We had a reservation for the evening and when we arrived on time we were told that we had to wait because the previous diners were still at the table which was fine. We were waiting by the front door and then told to move into the bar which we complied with and then another person told us to move back to the front door after being at the bar area for barely a minute. We informed this person that we had been told to wait in the bar and so he left us alone. While waiting for a table we found other people being seated who came after us. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes probably to get seated. We were a party of three and so recognizing that seating a party of three can be a little bit challenging We didn't have an issue with the wait. Once at our table it took forever for two of us to get our cocktails once ordered. We had to ask 3 different staff about the drinks before they finally arrived. the table next to us, the gentleman got his beer twice while two of us waited for our first cocktail. The food was amazing and there's no complaints there but the service and the wait staff that was tending our table need some improvements. And it was evident that we were getting poor service when compared to what we were seeing around us. We ordered everything from the appetizer menu, one main meal and everything from the dessert menu and when we would ask to explain what something was as it was brought to our table it felt like we were being brushed off. We had one vegetarian in the group and so we wanted to make sure she knew which ones were for her. So I don't know if this is how the service is typically or there was something else going on. We were comped for the drinks without asking so that is greatly appreciated but again service could have been a lot better. Again the food was the highlight and it definitely lived up to our expectations and I would come back again.

Main server was brusque to the point of slapstick. The service from the sommelier was amazing and made up for the deficiencies on the other side, including with great input and guidance on food, etc. Wines were exceptional. The food was really good but there were some odd decisions (burying good caviar under overpoweringly salty and crunchy breadcrumbs that made it impossible to taste/perceive the pop of the caviar, etc). Overall a nice experience.

The only good thing was the duck. Beautiful restaurant. The sparkling Pinot Gris was sour. It was a disappointment for my first Michelin star restaurant.

The Progress is our favorite restaurant in San Francisco. There’s so much thought behind every aspect of dining here. It’s so fun to talk to the staff about what to order because inevitably there are details that make dishes stand out that one might normally pass over. Can’t recommend highly enough!

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at The Progress. Although one main course had to be replaced, it was done so in a timely manner and the replacement dish was fine. The servers were attentive, kind and helpful and the food was as interesting as I remember it from a few years ago.
