Come kick off Summer 2024 with our Summer Solstice Dinner at the Prado in Balboa Park on Thursday 6/20/2024 at 6:00pm on our Garden Terrace! Enjoy tray passed appetizers and a welcome cocktail upon arriving. Chef John King will introduce 4 courses paired with wines from Justin Winery and cocktails from St George. Seating will be at a communal table on our lower Casa del Rey Moro Garden Terrace, final payment will be due at the end of the event.

The Prado is a beautiful restaurant. The table was fancy and the decor is lovely. The waiter was amazing he was so good. He told us everything we needed to know about the menu. He was really good. The food was okay. It was brought out on time and it was fine. They also have a good wine selection. I think it’s a great place to go for a special occasion.

Food was really bad! Steak was overcooked, dry and rubbery. Came with carrots and celery sticks with dipping ranch. Ranch was watery and licking everywhere. Carrots were old and dry, probably peeled 3 days ago and kept in open container in the fridge. Paella was served in a very rusty metal dish ( literally had rust on it) and I could only taste a metallic rusty taste in that whole dish. Pork chops prime rib was a little dry but not so bad as the other dishes. Potato puree/ mashed potatoes had absolutely no salt and tasted just watery and bad. I have never had a worse experience in a high expectations restaurant before! Very bad! Server came to apologize that she didn’t bring broccolini when we never ordered that. She mixt up orders. Chairs at the patio tables are metallic and very high up compared to the table height, so we literally had to bend over to eat. Good luck if you’re a tall person, you’re going to be in a very uncomfortable position. We went out for Mother’s Day and came back super disappointed.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. We arrived for their Mother’s Day experience brunch and the staff at Th Prado at Balboa Park truly went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and attended to. As for the brunch food, it was an absolute culinary delight. The Prado delivered excellence in every aspect. With a special thank you to manager April, and our server Jorge. A must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional service and delectable cuisine.

Love love love this restaurant. They do such a great jobs with birthdays.. my mom and her best friend of over 40 years celebrated their birthdays on Saturday and this restaurant hit the mark all around. Food, service and time. I love coming hear and will be back again to enjoy more celebrations or just for lunch... it is a great venue.

Waitress was rude, by ignoring us. She did not want to take our photo and after that request ignored us and was rude in making us wait for more than 20 mins for check had to ask someone else for help

We celebrated our anniversary and the staff gave us a card with all their names personally signed on it. The was a nice touch. On top of that the whole dinner experience was fantastic.

Awesome service and our waitress, Leslie, was incredible... she help us celebrate our anniversary with dessert and the sweetest anniversary card signed by the staff. We enjoyed Tuesday Night Date dinner option.

We arrived to the bar prior to our reservation and had a lovely experience with our server. Our strawberry margaritas were perfect and the crab dip was especially tasty. When we were seated, Brittany, our server, recognized my birthday and made us feel special for our entire dinner. My guest loved her mushroom risotto and I had the hanger steak special with shrimp and it was delicious. We shared the roasted cauliflower and it was delicious. Brittany brought me a flan on a lovely plate that said Happy Birthday(in chocolate) as well as a card signed by the staff and chef. I had a wonderful evening. The atmosphere is so nice and the food is great at a reasonable price point. Highly recommend!

We love the Prado. The food is always excellent, and the staff easily and with a smile remember returning guests. We got engaged at the Prado and just celebrated our first year wedding anniversary. The experience was wonderful. If you have not tried this lovely establishment then do so.

It was nice place, but they closed the patio which make the restaurant much more enjoyable. I felt like the prices were very inflated. A one course meal with for two with no drinks or bread was $80 and it wasn't like we had stake and lobster. The food wasn't anything special either. Disappointing!

Lunch was the perfect mix of wonderful food, impeccable service by Lisa, and the beautiful patio setting. The compressed arugula salad with salmon was delicious with a glass of Prosecco. My husband had the huge hamburger that was cooked perfectly was served with a large salad. It was a delightful experience. We’ll be back.

How do you keep customers coming back? Do what The Prado does. First off, the food is delicious. I had a meal that I would never be able to make at home, which is why you go out. Second, have incredible people working there. Everyone was absolutely friendly, and had a smile on their face. Finally, it was our anniversary, and we received a card that was signed by the staff. Now, I don't know if they truly enjoy signing a card for strangers, but it was still an incredible gesture that really helps make one want to come back. Also, the Happy Anniversary Flan was also wonderful. You can guarantee we will be back.

First of all, the Absolute Best Raspberry Lemon Drop Martinis anywhere. Food was delicious and service could not have been better. My group of friends and I love The Prado.

Great atmosphere but the food was not great. We split the paella and the chicken fricassee—the paella was all rice with barely any seafood. The fricassee was just not good. Too bad as the ambiance is gorgeous and the service was very good.

Absolutely wonderful experience! My wife and I sat outside on a sunny Saturday afternoon overlooking Balboa Park. Our server was so friendly, helpful and personable. The signature cocktails (the Sidecar) were fantastic and our entrees (salmon, salad and a glass of sauvignon blanc) were a perfect combination. I grew up in San Diego and live in LA but seem to rarely get down there to enjoy a weekend in the city. The park was beautiful and we were able to visit several museums. Lunching at The Prado brought back many fond memories of the area and was a capstone of a wonderful weekend!

The Prado is a fun place to visit and eat mostly because the Balboa park venue is beautiful. My wife and I have been visiting for many years, and we feel like the quality of the food has been in a decline. There are many much better San Diego restaurants to eat.

We have eaten at the Prado multiple times before, so I was surprised at how disappointing this meal was. The food was just not very good. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, and the shrimp had little to no flavor. My husband ordered the Seared Prime Beef Sushi Roll. I had a few pieces and it was mostly rice, with very little in the middle. My husband had ordered this appetizer before and the rice to inside veggies ratio was significantly higher this time around. For dinner, I ordered the pan-roasted sea bass, it was overcooked and quite dry. The veggie puree around the fish was no great shakes either. I will never order either of these two dishes again. If this had been my first time eating at the Prado, I would never go back. But it has been fine in the past.
