                                                                                                      We went at 5:30. It was quiet. Music doesn’t start until later that evening. Tried the steak pie from a recommendation. It was good. The whisky sauce is really tasty. We had the toffee dessert afterwards and it was very delicious. We paired the toffee dessert with a dram and they complimented each other very well. It started to get busy as we were leaving. We weren’t rushed by the staff who were very helpful and pleasant.

                                                                                                      If you’re looking for a quality pub just off the Royal Mile, consider a nice dinner here. Regular pub food here…well prepared. The real draw of this place is the ambience. Dark wood, fun quotes and wall decor, friendly and helpful staff with nightly music (starting about 9:30; we were too tired, unfortunately). Had a nice, fancier dinner the night before but much preferred this place! I ordered a delicious hamburger. Husband ordered a Haggis Tower (which he loved) along with a meat pie (also loved)!

My husbands main was good but I ordered the rob Roy steak and for the price I was extremely underwhelmed. Music was great and good atmosphere. Very tentative staff but they need to communicate better. We were checked back by 3 different staff for the same course at one point and asked if we wanted pudding menus before our starters were even finished. Felt like I was being overly watched. Nothing a bit if communication cant fix.

                                                                                                      Highly rated on "Trip Advisor', so gave it a try, wish I hadn't. The service and Ambience are good but the food is pretty poor. I had the burger which was tough and tasteless, the bun was dry and the sauce was awful. The chips were ok.

                                                                                                      The food and service were fantastic and great value for money. Sadly we visited with COVID restrictions so the atmosphere wasn’t great. I will definitely bust again when in Edinburgh, when things are a little more ‘normal’.

                                                                                                      One off our best experience of great food in a lovely restaurant I had the steak pie which was out of this world and deserts are really delicious with a great range of food to suit everyone would recommend to everyone to give it a try you’ll not be disappointed
