The Peacock, Austin Proper’s ground floor Mediterranean restaurant and lobby bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menus are inspired by the colorful culinary styles of Israeli and Turkish fare and include spit-roasted meats and vegetables grilled over the restaurant's wood-burning oven, flavorful tagines and hearty mezze platters and dips ideal for sharing. The sprawling bar provides a full dining experience and offer a condensed food menu throughout the lobby and outdoor lounge. Overlooking views of Shoal Creek can be taken in from the Peacock’s patio space and the private dining room balcony.

    The kabobs did not appear to be fresh. Appeared to be pre-cooked and just warmed up and served. Rice was not hot.

    Not a place if you want to go for a leisurely lunch as there felt there was a pressure to vacate the table with other tables still open. Sort from that everything was good!

    Beautiful restaurant. The food was excellent. The presentation was excellent. And our server was fantastic. Lot of good energy in the place. Definitely a go to spot for millennials. I was the only Medicare eligible in the restaurant.

    The food was uneven. Crispy onion hummus was delicious, saganaki was good but lacked any defining flavor, and manti dumplings were barely edible, with a thick and rubbery texture and a tasteless interior. Prices were high, as one would expect at this restaurant, which ranks high in the list of Austin’s most pretentious dining spots. Champagne is $30 per glass…need we say more.

    A little pricey but the food was spectacular. I've been several times but this was the first time for brunch. We started with the English pea & feta dip which is always a favorite and then shared two brunch specials between the three of us. The Proper Benedict was yummy and the latke bottom rather than an English muffin was a nice change. By far our favorite was the Shakshuka. The sauce was perfectly spicy and the dish was served with fully, warm, fresh pita to dip into the sauce. SO GOOD!

    We were there to celebrate a graduation; I had let them know ahead of time. When we checked in, there were no congratulations; even when we were seated, nothing was said. Our waitress was professional and very helpful, and it seems like the special event notice was not conveyed to her. She went above and beyond in securing one menu item that was only on the dinner menu but was able to get it made for us for the graduate. The food was delicious and well-presented; great location, valet parking. We were taken aback by one incident, however. The said off-menu item was brought to the table by another male waiter and when we asked him to place it in front of the graduate (we had to move 2 plates out of the way), he actually rolled his eyes and sighed loudly for the inconvenience. Sadly, that spoiled the mood at the table.

    Great ambiance - good quality food. I could eat two orders of hummus and be happy. Food was a little pricey for the quality.
