Located in the charming beach town of Gearhart, OR - possibly best known for being the summer home & final resting place of James Beard, the godfather of American fine dining, The Pacific Way is located in a history filled 1929 building. Depending on the coastal weather, you may chose a cozy space indoors, warm by a fire or dine in our covered dog friendly patio. Our menu changes seasonally & the chef offers chalkboard menu items regularly, so for the latest information please see our website: pacificwaycafe.com. You'll find our menu is seafood forward, but it is worth noting our pasta is made in-house and there's always something special on deck for the vegetarian and carnivore in the group.

We recommend making reservations for dinner, but for weekend brunch & small plate afternoons feel free to walk-in!

Fantastic food, knowledgeable staff, helped with food allergies, picking right beverages for the dinner. Special roses for moms on Mother's Day. Very pleasant.

We ate here for Mother's Day. The pork belly appetizer was awesome. The seafood pasta was good but perhaps it could have used a bit more taste so I had to salt and pepper it a little. My husband's salmon was good but again, probably could have used a bit more taste. The freshness of the foods were excellent. We thought the $10 berry lemonade that they had special for Mother's Day was overpriced for a glass that did not have refills and which had a lot of ice. Overall, it was good but not outstanding.

The reservation was confirmed multiple times. (plus) The staff was nice, helpful and pleasant to us when we arrived. Food was delicious and plentiful. I will recommend again.

Pacific Way was in an unassuming building in a small town and blew us away with their inviting service and outstanding food. My meal ranked in the top 5 of all meals I've had. The charred carrots with chili I am still thinking about days later. The waiter recommended it and we started with that and the beet salad. There was a perfect balance of bitter and sweet, acid and crunch. The halibut was tender and delicious, with a sauce that elevated it to the sublime. The goat cheese cheesecake with marionberries was startling and intriguing-we couldn't stop eating it and discussing it with every bite. I have already recommended it to my Portland friends as worth the drive for the restaurant alone.

We attended your very special restaurant on Thursday, May 2, for an event with Stoller Winery. Wine was great as was their staff, the restaurant is absolutely charming, the wait staff was excellent and I know we will certainly visit again. Met the new owner Alan who was also very delightful. Our group loved the experience with the wine pairing and selection of dishes. The spice on the lamb was out of this world! We loved the creativity of the menu and side by sides of Stoller wines. Can't wait to come back!

First visit under new ownership. Found all to be very nice. Food was great, atmosphere pleasant, staff very accommodating. Thought a $25.00 corkage was a bit steep, but otherwise it was a nice visit.

This is a very cute restaurant in the heart of Gearhart. The menu items are expensive and some are good. My halibut was delicious, but the side of greens was undercooked. The crab cakes were over cooked and dry. The beet salad and green salad were quite good, and cheesecake was also very tasty. Overall, for the price, I would expect more consistency with respect to the quality of the food.

We had Easter Brunch at the Pacific Way Cafe which was our first time dining there in over a year. The new chef has really upped the game here and we were blown away by the food. It was a really well done menu and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the steak and eggs. Gearhart is lucky to have this quaint, beautiful restaurant serving delicious chef creations that are sure to delight. Will definitely be coming back!

Food was spectacular! We had the miso glazed king salmon, and spiced halibut. Both were excellently plated and had enormous flavor and subtle accents as well. The Beaux Freres bottle list was a sweet surprise, one of our favorite Oregon wineries!

The reservation asked if it was a special occasion, and I replied yes! It was one of those big birthdays. I asked for a romantic booth or table with a view if possible (I had never been there before). We came in behind a walk in couple, that were seated in the main dining room with quaint fire place, it was really nice. Even though I made the reservation weeks in advance, we were seated out front by the door. It was too bright and freezing! I was very disappointed. Customer service used to really mean something.

Gearhart is a small town with not a lot of dining options from what we found so to have the gem was a bonus! Missy and crew seemed a bit short staffed or training new hires but they pulled it off wonderfully. Food was superb, and we were made to feel like locals the entire time. We were not rushed, and the service was spot on. They even awarded us with a special dessert because they said we "seemed cool". There was a recent 1 star review from a customer so I was a little worried for what we might experience but Mr. 1 star was probably having a bad day or the restaurant did just have 1 off night in the last 364 days. Give it a try!

I’ve been coming to Seaside and Cannon Beach for the past 20 years; I’ve never really had a reason to stop in Gearhart until now. The dining room, ambiance, the staff, the owner, and especially the food was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and they had an amazing wine list. My girl and I got the tasting menu and everything blew me away, the portions, the presentation, everything. They even brought out candles on the desserts for her birthday. If you’re ever looking for a nice dinner this place is perfect, absolutely a destination for us every year we come back now.

When we crossed the threshold, we stepped into a warm cozy place with amazing food and incredible personal service. Can’t say enough about this restaurant. It was so obvious that the owner, the servers and the chefs really cared about us and any special culinary needs/requests. So refreshing to know there’s a restaurant that really cared about making our dining special.

This restaurant is excellent! This is easily the best restaurant on the Northern Oregon Coast. The chef was recruited out of Portland and the food is beyond anything we've had in Seaside, Astoria, and surrounding cities. The crab cakes are a must and I highly recommend the goat cheese cheesecake. You won't leave anything on your plate.

We were at a table in a side area next to the window, so very private. The lighting was perfect and there was music in the background. The menu was unique. It would be nice if they had a small version of the tasting menu. A good experience. We will be back!

Everything seemed fine to the point of actually getting our entrees. Our reservations were for 7:00 pm, we were seated promptly, and the waitress took our order c. 7:15-7:20. Wine that we ordered was served pretty quickly, the focaccia was nice. Then things went wrong: our entrees weren't served until well over an hour later. The waitress kept coming up and apologizing but no one offered us any food to nibble on while we waited. And then they were served in a staggered fashion. My wife got her duck first after about 1 hr 15 minutes while I didn't get my halibut until 1 hr 30 minutes after ordering. When I finally got my entree, the halibut was overcooked, dry and tasteless. It was served on a very tired bed of kale (I think). We were finally told by the owner who was somewhat apologetic that they'd "overbooked for that night, there were only two people in the kitchen, and they were doing a heck of a job." Huh? That's an excuse? No "you're totally comped, here's some more wine, desserts on the house." Instead, he said "what can we do? Would you like more wine?" My wife - who was treating me since it was my birthday dinner - said, well, you could shave the cost. So he charged us half! Not classy at all. Overbooking implies that they're trying to make money more than offer a quality experience, as does an understaffed kitchen on a Saturday night. This was supposed to be my birthday dinner, but no one said anything about that whatsoever, as the time went by or at the end. Our whole night was ruined and this experience, which left us both really in a bad mood for the rest of the evening, placed among the bottom five worst experience I have ever had anywhere for dinner. The waitstaff wouldn't even look at us as we left, let alone offer any further amends. Embarrassed I guess. Or another shifting of blame maybe. We will NEVER go back.

The Pacific Way has improved so much from when they first opened. It's a bit spendy, but the food was superb. We had a great dinner, and will be back.

The menu has a very interesting combo of cuisines. It’s a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors and it works well. I had the salmon and it was outstanding. The salmon was wild and very succulent. There was enough that I was able to enjoy it for lunch today. The salmon came with an assortment of roasted vegetables including some I’d never had before. The salmon was $38 and well worth it. There was nothing ordinary about it. We shared a mini-cheesecake for our friendship anniversary. The cheesecake wasn’t overly sweet and contained goat cheese. Very different. I’ve already decided to return for my birthday in February and indulge in the rib eye steak for $54. The wine and champagne offerings was very generous. We sat in the window facing Pacific Way and it was quiet and private. We met the owner Allan and he and his wife own the restaurant and bakery. Don’t get me started on the bakery. The best breads and almond croissants. They also offer sandwiches with interesting combinations of ingredients. So good. I live in Seaside where good restaurants are few and far between. Having the Pacific Way back is a welcome option for dining in the area.

New ownership has brought an exceptional chef (Departures with GG) and intriguing menu. 300 bottle wine cellar is great fun and diverse. Highly recommend!

What made this restaurant was the ambiance. It was perfect. Kind of old world, PNW charm. We were in the room with the fireplace. The scallops crudo were excellent. The steak and halibut were fine. The staff was friendly. Left a little disappointed that we felt pushed out. Lights were being turned off at 8:30, with us and people at 2 other tables in the main room.

This was a special afternoon event...Pacific Northwest Oysters and Bubbles...6 different varieties of oysters and 4 types of bubbles...just delicious. However, it was typical of Pacific Way Cafe owner, Alan, and his team - attention to detail, wine selection and delicious food. Definitely a wonderful place to spend a lovely afternoon, or delightful evening. We'll be going again often.
