                        We had an incredible meal. This is my new favorite restaurant in Nashville. Amber must be the best waitress in the entire state. Our service was phenomenal!

                        The Optimist is the first dining experience my fiancé and I had when we moved to Nashville. It was spectacular food, service, and ambiance. We went there often, and everytime had a great time. We went last night, to celebrate my fiancés new job, and sadly our experience wasn’t on par with our past experiences. We sat at our table with empty champagne glasses, and no drink menu…we had asked for a drink menu and our server said “yes, I’ll go get you one” and he never did. A different server dropped plates off to our table and I asked her for a wine list, and she got us one. Our server saw her getting it for us and intercepted and asked if we wanted a drink. I quickly placed a drink order for us without thinking it through, because I didn’t want him to forget about us. He seemed busy. And in his defense the restaurant was very busy. My fiancé ordered the Mahi mahi, which was the most expensive thing on their menu. The fish came out and it was half a filet. I saw the small size and immediately knew that wouldn’t be enough, even with our two sides to split. My fiancé asked our server if this was correct? Half a filet and being the most expensive thing on the menu with no sides? He said yes. We were both pretty shocked. The server was kind enough to say “let me go talk to them and see if I can get you the other half of that filet”. He came back several minutes later and did give him the other half. I was happy he tried to make things right. The fish was delicious, the brocolini and asparagus were also very good, and my lobster roll was tasty. I truly hope that they modify their menu to say that the mahi mahi is half a filet of fish for $53 with no sides. Otherwise it’s a tad deceptive. As for our server, he seemed busy and could explain his forgetfulness. But he truly pulled through when he fixed the fish situation with us. I think we will take a break with The Optimist for a bit, and see if things change for the better for the next time we dine.

                        Nice place for good tasting seafood. Little dark, little pricey for fish only with no sides. Good experience but most would be a one time visit

                        It was a great experience. Our server was phenomenal and very attentive. Food quality was very good. We will go back.

                        Went for my boyfriend’s birthday. He had chosen it. He thought the food was spectacular and so did I. The oysters were fresh, the ingredients were fresh, the taste of the different flavor profiles were paired just so.
