Very quiet on a Sunday night but had an enjoyable meal with friends. Kids entertained by the football on TV, and all had good service.

We went to The Neighbourhood for drinks and a meal out for my birthday, and it was amazing. We got there before our time slot as not living in Edinburgh and not knowing exactly where it was. we wanted to ensure we had time as we were walking. We were told it was fine and could grab drinks and was shown to a little booth. The place was quiet, which was nice but still had others in. We had a couple of drinks before ordering food. We were looked after by Finlay and Archie. Both of them were very polite, kind, and helpful. After we had dinner they asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu to which I replied joking "do they do birthday cake" I was then asked about the booking being for a birthday as when I booked it asked if it was for a special occasion. I said and when they asked if it was mine or my partners I said mine. We both ordered the sticky toffee pudding and they had gone above and beyond with it being on a larger plate saying happy birthday in raspberry sauce, five macaroons around the edge and a dusting of coca powder and icing sugar. Along with the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and a pot of toffee sauce they also put a candle on it which was just amazing. We had an amazing night and I felt very spoilt just from the service. A massive thank you to Finlay and Archie.

What a great evening we had here on Saturday 2nd December. Despite having a wedding party to cater for, they kindly pushed our booking back an hour at short notice. Food and wine excellent and service outstanding. Thank you

Cosy booth in a spacious basement with a warm welcome from the staff member on a quiet evening. Food was what we expected and wanted for the money and occasion.

This was our second visit to the Neighbourhood and it didn't disappoint. Lovely fish and chips and steak dinner served by excellent staff, especially Thomas. He's an asset to the team.

We were pleasantly surprised by the courtesy and level of attentiveness of the waiting/serving staff. The food choice was limited but it was very good and clearly freshly cooked and served very promptly. There was a television at the back (with sound muted) which was the only thing to disturb a peaceful enjoyable meal for two.

Excellent food but service was poor. Initially the service was good with our food and drinks order taken promptly. The food was excellent. BUT the 4 staff, including a manager, didn’t attend to us again … the plates were not cleared or dessert menu offered. The staff were too engrossed in their own conversation. Very disappointing as the service the previous evening was good. So good food, lose the TV with subtitles that were a distraction, improve the service and all will be good!

Both times I've visited this venue recently for a quiet meal with partner has been perfect. Quiet, nice low lighting, privacy dining in a booth with attentive staff but not too overbearing. Meals served promptly and were tasty. Bar & waiting staff exceptionally nice and friendly. I really like this place!

Lovely food, lovely staff, took a wee while to be served but it was Mother’s Day. They forgot a starter but this was soon rectified and without us saying anything was removed from the bill. Would definitely visit again

The menu was varied, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and informative. The food was good and plentiful, and there was a Scottish beer on tap! It was all good but the best bit was the staff!

We've eaten here a few times now and every time has been great. There's a very good selection of choices for vegetarians as well as fish and meats. I personally really like their burgers and my wife the fish and chips. The staff are really friendly and provide good, unobtrusive service and the food came out in a very timely manner; we didn't feel rushed nor that we had to wait too long. All in all a very pleasant night out with friends.

very nice ambience - though we were right at the back of the room and couldnt see anything it was quite nice to be left alone. Food was good and service was excellent.

We were two and ordered nachos and two burgers. It was plenty of food for the two of us and all of it was really good. The waitress was very nice too!

The restaurant space was dark and gloomy we were the only diners in our largish area, there was no atmosphere and any ambience was lacking. It needs to be more informal and welcoming. It felt dowdy and corporate, not living up to its name of The Neighbourhood. The menu was interesting and the portions generous The starter of prawns were good. I had fish and chips The batter was stodgy and bready, the chips were overly large and unappetising. My partner had salmon broth and it was was a generous portion and very tasty. We had a delicious side salad. All in all the food was fine but something needs to be done with the decor and surroundings to make it more attractive. It is competing with some other very trendy places in the vibrant community of Bruntsfield

Lovely find! Very attentive and friendly staff and a lovely garden area. Food was tasty and service was quick. Only downside was that it was very quiet, so not much of an atmosphere. That said, there was an event happening later in the day so they had blocked bookings to enable the staff to properly prepare - which I thought was great. Look forward to going back when it's a bit busier!

The majority of the dishes on the menu appear to involve deep frying in some way or other so not a place to go if you want to eat healthily. Salad side dish unimaginative and lacked dressing. Most waiting staff were adequate but one was particularly poor - taking order to the wrong table then forgetting our drinks order. It has the potential to be good and outside looks lovely but would go back for drinks rather than a meal.

Wait staff was polite and well meaning but unfortunately quite incompetent. The ambience was of a hotel patroned mostly by the elderly and the playlist playing in the background seemed to be targeted at that audience. The lighting was not great (not as pictured) and the decor was fake and had a “canteen” vibe. The food was mostly okay.

Lovely location, nice grounds- such a shame there was minimum gluten free options. You would think that most places do vegan, vegetarian so I can’t understand why no gluten free.
