The service left a lot to be desired. Pros: the view of downtown. Cons: The place wasn’t busy…we waited at least 15 minutes to be acknowledged and brought waters. When the waitress finally did come over it felt like we were bothering her??? I ordered an old fashion and my husband had a beer…both drinks were expensive and not great…we ordered the crab cakes to eat and it was just okay…I’ve had better that were bigger and less expensive. Subpar service, drinks and food…we decided to split early and go to another restaurant.

Super slow service. And not busy at all. The drinks were good but a bit pricey. The space is beautiful

Was very nice place they definitely need more help with their service staff food was pretty good basically higher-end bar food not real dinner food drinks are very good

Great venue under the sky. Tiger stadium fireworks was a bonus. Beautiful views of city. Drinks were well crafted-new experiences. Forbidden City (cherry margarita) was most special surprise Gregory was a fantastic server; Highly recommend if you can get him.

I went here three times before and had a bad experience due to a really rude manager. I decided to try it again and it was a great experience! Incredible views and great drinks. A little expensive but I expect that and worth it.

Our server was great! She did not charge us a cutting fee for slicing my graduation cake up and was very quick and responsive :)

TMC is one of the best spots in Detroit. Unfortunately, the service has been very slow due to backups at the bar the last two times we have been in. Wait staff has been good and apologetic so I don’t fault them. That said, we will be back as the drinks are first class and the ambiance and views are second-to-none.

We had an incredible historical download from a hometown Detroit native named Gregory who sets this experience above all other cocktail lounges in Detroit! Fifteen stars!!

Sister-In-Law from Chicago visiting Detroit. Took her to Monarch for drinks and small plates - and the view. Her comment: "This is awesome. In Chicago this would be awesome - and this is in Detroit!" Extremely comfortable space. Love that all four corners of roof top are accessible. Very well done.

The lady you check in with downstairs isn’t very friendly, in fact I felt like we were getting interrogated. We had guests that were running late due to traffic and parking issues. She wanted to know when and how long they were going to be. Upstairs the service was SLOW It took 25 minutes to get our first round of drinks. I can understand if they were busy but they were dead- I counted 8 other customers besides our party when we arrived. Every staff member seemed to have an attitude. Also- their credit card machines were down? I feel like with the amount of texts and emails we received confirming our reservation there should have been some type of communication letting us know so we could prepare for this. This was a disappointing experience. We’ve tried to come here few weeks prior and the lady downstairs was extremely rude about not having a reservation. So we made one this time. And we were still treated poorly.

Gregory was our waiter, he was friendly, fun and attentive. We booked a party of 12 for drinks before a dinner reservation somewhere else. It was the perfect meeting spot and really easy to make the reservation. They put us in a private room which was awesome. I was the only one in the group that had been there before and the rest of the group loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Great setting and great view of Detroit. We managed to get seats at the bar, the host on first floor being very nice and accommodating. Cocktails were great, food was just ok (we ordered the truffle fries -very salty and garlicky- and the fish dip had a funky smell). Service at the bar was not professional, a few barmaids were giggling loudly for almost half an hour in Spanish not caring about interfering with guests privacy around nor about the image of the Monarch.

Wow! And wow!! What a treasure in downtown Detroit —and only a hop and skip (not even a jump) from the Detroit Opera House! Great for a pre- or post-show treat. Even on its own, it is absolutely worth the trip into the city to visit the Monarch Club for the wonderful views and great ambiance. It was out first time there and we are already plotting our return!!

Overall it was very cool place to get a drink before a show. Throw shade if you want but I did bring my kids. Yes yes I know it’s a cocktail bar but I wanted to show them a cool experience and it almost wasn’t because they almost turned us away at the door. Their policy says no kids before 9p and I more than honored that coming before 5p. It was a little frustrating. Also, it is insanely pretentious to have your place roped off at the entrance. That aside, mostly good things after. The place is super cool. The lookout and views of the city are awesome. Happened to be there at sunset to boot. Drinks were so so. I had a watered down old fashioned. Wife had a French 75 that she says was good. We passed around several of the small plates, best to worst of what we had; Truffle fries 5/5 Sausage pear flat 4/5 Charcuterie 3/5 Sliders 3/5 Meatballs. 2/5 These are my ratings not my kids.

The ambience was great! It had amazing view of the city and such charm. Nice and cozy feeling, loved the decor. I’m sure it’s even better in the summer on the outside patio! Food and drinks were great too! Highly recommend checking out this little gem!

We attended The Monarch Club for a 50Th birthday celebration on 1/13/24. I’ve been to this same establishment before and the service, ambiance and food was amazing, so it was only right I recommend this same place to a group of friends who had never been. Immediately after being seated ( a group of 8) The waitress walks over and the first thing out of her mouth was “ Just so you all know, the gratuity will be placed on your bill and it’s One bill ONLY, no split checks” at that time, I felt as though we were targeted because she felt like we couldn’t afford this place. Sadly we all left after have been seated for less than 10 minutes and Will Never return
