The Mayor’s House By Selda is NOW OPEN! A full service restaurant in the historic The Mayors House home in Bishop Arts District in Dallas’ Oak Cliff. Led by acclaimed chef, Habip Kargin, and serving delicious dishes, kebab, a variety of fish, pilaf, pide, pistachio desserts, and more! We have a patio off the front of the restaurant where we offer hookah. We also have a small patio upstairs with great downtown views. Downstairs we have a full bar, a place for special events.

The food here is amazing. Some of the servers are good. Some of them have never waited tables before don’t be afraid to just snag anybody and tell them what you want. Don’t wait for anybody to come to you. Always ask for the dessert tray at the end of the meal it won’t come automatically and it’s really something to see. If you can get a seat at the bar, the bartender is fantastic. He is a craftsman, professional and makes perfect drinks. He can make any drink. Just tell him what you want. The specialty drink list is amazing.

4 of us dined at The Mayor's House last night (first time). We knew it was Turkish cuisine but didn't have many expectations beyond that. Our great server recommended three appetizers to share (shrimp/garlic/, a cauliflower dish and a Turkish savory "pastry"....all were soooo good. Three of us had the lamb dish she recommend as well. We savored every bite and the accompanying salad w/ pine nuts and rice were excellent too. The fourth person had a meat dish and he said it was also very good.

The place is so lovely! Food is so delicious! The branzino (whole fish) was absolutely the best we've had. The fried cauliflower was so flavorful and the lamchops so tender and juicy. We had a Turkish red wine that was simply wonderful.

Celebrating Mother's Day at Mayor’s House was an absolute treat! The moment we entered, the ambiance set a warm and welcoming tone for our evening. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the variety of dips paired with freshly baked bread that was nothing short of divine. Each dip, rich in flavor and authentically Turkish, was a perfect starter to our meal. We also tried the salmon which was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning to complement its natural flavors without overwhelming them. It was a hit at our table, appreciated for its moist texture and delicious taste. No meal is complete without dessert, and Mayor’s House excelled here too. Their dessert selection provided a sweet finish to our Mother’s Day celebration. Each dessert was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked, leaving us all impressed.

The food is special. Authentic and super flavor filled. The entire experience was excellent from greeting to paying was a joy. Finally, the drinks off the menu were perfect.

The Mayor’s House was outstanding in every way. We started with cocktails at the charming bar. They were perfectly prepared by a terrific bartender. The meal was upstairs and everything was just right. Service was friendly and professional, with a nice recommendation when we asked for Turkish wine. Each item we ordered was wonderful. Our favorites were the fried cauliflower, spicy ezme and the signature lamb kabob. We are eager to return.

This place has everything it needs to be an exceptional dining experience. However, due to the service, it ended up being an unpleasant dining experience. First let’s start with the vibe. The location is fantastic and the patio is amazing. They have live music, plenty of patio seating, and string lights. Upon being sat and taking it in we soon realized no one had come to greet us after being sat for 15 minutes. Finally someone came to take our drink orders and we thought we were all aboard the good service train. Our drinks came out 20 minutes later so at this point we are there for 35 minutes and finally getting our drinks. We rush all of our orders in while we finally have our servers attention. Fast forward 45 minutes later and we had empty drinks, empty waters, and still no food. An hour and 30 minutes later the food comes out all at once. We had ordered 4 starters, a couple salads and then 2 entrees. The food was not coursed out so it made it very difficult to fit all the plates on the table. Once we dug into the food though, this is when they began to win us back. The food was incredible. There was nothing we ordered that we did not like. Then again, we were reminded of how bad the service was. I had to get up and ask the hostess to send someone to clean off our empty plates, refill our waters, and order another drink. The manager comes out and quickly buses our table and personally orders our drinks. Those drinks never came. We finally asked for our check and that was also a very difficult task for their staff. I recommend the food, ambiance, scenery, but please be ready to have subpar service.

Our waitress was very sweet! Although she spoke little english that didn’t stop her from giving us wonderful service! The food was super fresh and tasted way better than what I expected! I hope to come back again!

Even though we had reservations, we had to wait for our table. We went to the bar and the bartender never greeted us, didn't offer us a drink menu and his way of asking for our drinks was to stand in front of us and raising an eyebrow. This is so not the city for that type of service. Our waitress, on the other hand, was attentive and went at our pace. She managed to be attentive without rushing us.

The restaurant is a special place. The food was excellent, service was awesome, setting was exceptional, and the price was value oriented. All the dishes that we had were awesome and we had a bunch. On a conclusion, it is a repeater!

We are regulars at Selda’s in North Dallas. Everything was just a step above what we have already come to know and love. Great food, service, quiet enough for conversation and a crazy large and super fun dessert tray. With the easy parking, this is a must try for anyone who loves Mediterranean food.

It was good all around. The only reason for my 4 star was the noise. The upstairs room between the music and people being loud I could hardly hear my partner at the table. I’m sure this is the age of the house not the owners etc. We will just request to not sit upstairs next time. Otherwise we will definitely be back. Very reasonable prices for Dallas and really great food.

Mediocre food; horrible service - took around 30 minutes for someone to come give us water let alone take our order; waitress didn’t write down our order when she finally came around and brought out the wrong drinks; meat was dry. Not worth the hype.
