Traveling palette had former Lawrence residents visit and The Mad Greek was high on their list to renew old acquaintances. We all loved the extensive variety of foods available for the luncheon special. On this Friday late morning the place was packed and already very noisy. Moussaka was perfectly portioned for lunch with sirloin and rich flavors. Everyone ordered the side of Greek green beans which clearly was a favorite with perfect seasoning and cooking. Who could not go to a Greek restaurant without having pita and tzatziki? One of our troop loves the vegetable plate. Before we could order dessert, flames erupted at the table next to us which turned out to be cheese rather than a flambé with a the always special exclamation “Opa!” The tiramisu was creamy and sweet. Looking forward to future adventures at downtown Lawrence’s The Mad Greek!

I may have found my new favorite spot in Lawrence. We enjoyed watching Saganaki being flambéed throughout the restaurant. Everything looks amazing on the menu. My table had the Athena burger which was 10/10, pasta sampler plate (highly recommended) and a brisket bowl that looked heavenly and would my order the next time we’re in town.

Everything was great, from the moment we made the reservation online to the moment we walked out of the restaurant. The Mad Greek is always lively with a good amount of energy, but not to the point of being too loud or overstimulating. And the food is always great! My family and I eat here every time we come to Lawrence from Wichita & KC areas.

Nice menu and food was very good along with good service. However, hectic and loud. A busy night, which was a good sign, but no area for patrons to wait for their table except crowded in the entry and standing around tables where diners had already been seated and were trying to enjoy themselves. The worse part was the total brightness of the lighting, like a high school gym during a basketball game - took away any ambience. Haven't decided if we will try again, except maybe for carryout.
